Any one with more news on the demise of the Disney Stores?????

Just looking for any news on the Disney Stores....
We were just at the mall.....quick run in and out....so we didn't have time to stop at TDS.
But while there we overheard a woman say she was just a TDS and EVERYTHING was 50% off!
Is that true? Could they be gearing up for the "sale"???

Also, the DisneyStore.com has a HUGE sale going on this weekend. All their bedding and bath on sale up to 60% off!! Got a GREAT deal on the quilt I have been thinking of getting.

So anyone with any news??????

Yes, the disney stores have a 50% off sale this weekend.

They will be closing stores with leases that run out soon to get down to 300 or less stores.

Other stores that have leases that expire in year or more away will add adult and infant lines this Oct.

Or maybe someone will buy them out. Who knows.

Oh, there are also about 7600 items on disney's ebay thing, they run out in 3 hours. All kinds of stuff.

I think most of the stores in Atlanta have closed, but the one closet to us actually closed to renovate. I thought that was odd. There are walls up around it with signs for new employees and that it is temporarily closed due to renovations. Last time I was in I asked if they were planning on closing, too but she told me this particular store is one of DS's top selling stores, I don't know why. Don't understand what the difference is? I just live in plain ole' suburbia. I do hope there isn't as much crap in there, though. true, I have two little girls but ya can only take so much of that stuff.

The big sale they're having is the semi-annual sale - nothing unusual. Most eveyrthing (except Nemo, media and a handful of other things) are 50% - 75% off.

FYI -- DVD's are not on sale. I didn't see that CD's were either.
They did have a few adult t's. I bought one just to show adults will buy clothes!

We walked through the store closest to us yesterday just to see what they had. I noticed that virtually everything was on sale but couldn't find a single adult clothing item. They did have a few snowglobes in the back which were not on sale. I left empty-handed since our son (10) has decided that Disney stuff isn't "cool" any more.

I hope that Disney keeps this store open. It is still decorated in that whimsical way with all of the Disney figures along the top and Goofy crashing through the store window.

When she said "media." she means DVDs, VHS and all audio. I beleive most of the books are not on sale either.

They did have a few snowglobes in the back which were not on sale.

The only snowglobe we have in our store that is not on sale is the Nemo one.

It could be that your store just doesn't have any at the moment. Our store has the new "americana" t-shirts (which I bought yesterday), and maybe a few older styles.
