Any one on 7-29-06 / 7 Night Western!!!! Is Back

Looks like meeting up before the cruise may be a bit of a challenge. Marci...I totally understand...I have a feeling that if I tell my boys we are meeting our cruise friends today instead of hitting the parks I'll get a loud groan :rolleyes2

As we get closer and hopefully have more people join in we'll see if we can set something up for a pre-cruise meet.

Since I haven't been on a Disney cruise before I don't have any idea of where to meet once on the ship but I'm willing to help with the planning! :thumbsup2

Aloha,
Jen

I'm arriving with the girls on the afternoon of the 26th. We are staying at Caribbean beach for the 3 nights before the cruise. I've read through this thread and hoping someone can answer my questions. I've seen people making "adr" - what is this? Advance Reservations? Also, I've read people referring to "passports" (and not the ID kind ) what are these? TIA

Lisa

;) When wer talk about passport (no id one) we are talking about a book on DCL. You can go to there wed site and see what we are talking about. It is www.passporter.com. Hope this helps. :sunny:

My kids and I will also be on this cruise.... Our first I'm a little nervous going it alone as a single mom. Me, D11, S11, D8. Should be fun. My kids will all have their birthdays on the cruise (they will turn 11, 11 & 8) So they are very excited! I have to take my old saying... You can't scare me I have twins! to heart.

Hi, Lisa. Yes, ADRs are advanced reservations. It doesn't guarantee you a table at that time, just that you will be put in line for the next table of your size. Some restaurants don't have a very long wait, while others have a long waits even with ADRs.

Welcome! You'll see lots of single parents on these cruises...but I'm not sure how many you'll see with twins! :teeth: You'll do just great, as Disney is used to helping make everything easier! Join in and chat with us. We aren't very talkative yet, but as the cruise gets closer I think this thread will get busier!

Hey Suz - I'm solo too for the cruise (DD who will turn 12 and DD who is just shy of 8) - I'm trying to figure it all out. So many things to remember and do! I really want to make this trip special and so many people have such great ideas! I hope I can remember everything.

ps - I'm a twin too :cool1:

pps - thanks for the info on the passporter and ADR

;) Welcome! I just added your name to the 1st thread in this post. It has a list of everyone that we know of going. It will be fun.
I agree with Marci there is alot to talk about. We are almost 90 days out. I am so happy.

:flower1: What would be the best night to make res. at Palo's? My 90 make is coming up quick and I want to be rady. ;) Thanks

We like doing Palos on Saturday night. Especially if we start off in Parrot Cay or Lumiere's. If our rotation has us at Animator's Palate on Sat., we will probably shoot for the second round at AP for Palos. Who would ever imagine that this much thought goes into where and when we eat. Then again, they haven't experienced Palos...probably! :teeth: :teeth:
We did the villa's for spa stuff when we were on at Christmas. I think DH wants to do it again so he can try a different massage...the stones! He has generously let me have the stones massage before, so he would like to try it as well. It is a great treatment. My other fav. is the Aromaspa Ocean Spa wrap and massage. Definitely feel relaxed!!! :cloud9:

I've been reading on the main cruise board the different ways that people tip the CMs. How do you are do it? Do you give anything else like phone cards etc. Since our DD 2/12 will be using Flounders ( though I'm hoping they will let her move up since she is toilet trained) is there anything that those CMs would enjoy?

Aloha,
Jen

;) I did phone cards with there tips. I bought them at Sam's. They came 10 to a package. You have to make sure they are international calling cards I was told. I ma unsure this time becasue I am woundering if everyone uses cell phones now.

Hi, Jen!

I've been reading about it as well and trying to decide what to do. Two years ago I gave phone cards and cash to our concierge team and to other special CMs. From what I've been reading, I might change to Wal-Mart cards, candy etc. I also gave my birthday cake to the CMs in the Oceaneer's club. Food seems to be a big hit, as they don't get all the same food that is served to passengers. What other ideas do people have?

Do you think the CMs would enjoy some Macadamia Nuts? I could bring along some cans and use those for a little something extra on top of the tips.

While I'm thinking about food items I was wondering about coffee. If coffee on board is anything like what you find at WDW then we will be going through withdrawal ;) Usually on vacation we brew our own Kona Coffee or stop at Starbucks. Is there a coffee pot in the cabin?

Aloha,
Jen

Jen -- I would think they would love Macademia nuts -- I know my family does! That would be something a little different and specific to where you're from as well.

When we were on the Magic two years ago they did not have coffee machines in the rooms. I didn't drink coffee at that time (I do now....) so I can't tell you what it's like.

;) Sorry Jen no coffee pot in the room. I would love that to. You have to go up to the drink station were there is coffee, soda and milk 24/7. I liked the coffee but it is not Starbucks. :sunny: The new adult area has different coffee so that is were you would most likely get coffee like Starbucks. :sunny: Flo

<gasp in horror> no coffee pot in the room.... public visability to get coffee before coffee in the morning? Oh man.... I guess I'll have to perfect the art of skulking through the hallways.... :rotfl2:

Hi all,

Well I've just been into to town and have paid my flights, I know it must be getting close now!!! ;)

How are you all getting on with excursions and Palo, I think its this weekend isn't it you can book?

pixiedust: Im sending you some special, Uk limited edition, Pixie dust in the hope that you can all get what you want. pixiedust:

Jen, what are macademia nuts? Are they sweet - we don't get them here in the UK. Something else we don't have are the Reeces peanut butter sweets, sorry candies. They are yummy! Oh and the mickey waffles for breakfast - now im back in hyper mode :goodvibes

Take care all
:wave2:

You can have your coffee, tea, whatever delivered to your room at whatever time you want in the morning - can even set it up the night before. That is what we did on the last cruise & worked out really well. Maybe you can request STRONG coffee. :cool1: :cheer2:

Everybody has such good ieas! The Macademia nuts are an awesome idea! Marci is right, they like it when you bring something from home! We have brought different things off and on. Once we brought t-shirts from our local college...Bradley University. Both DH and I are alumni. The crew were so kind in saying that it meant alot since we had gotten close over a few cruises. We have also taken microwave popcorn with our city on it..Peoria! This was a HUGE hit! They appreciated the food, and thought it cool that it came from our home. I have also made small pottery(to put their jewelry on, etc., and bracelets. Our family logo tends to be BELIEVE...simplifying the Faith Trust and Pixie Dust, philosophy! I had BELIEVE on whatever I make.

Helen...great choice on the Reece's!!! They have been big in our home lately. The ortho recommended them as easy on the braces. So DD and I both have been eating them. And, Macademia Nuts are delicious! You will definitely have to try them on your next trip!!!

Have a great night all!
