Any one on 7-29-06 / 7 Night Western!!!! Is Back

:wave2: Just saying hello to everyone. After a stormy weekend with no power things are looking much calmer and warmer now.Valerie and Tif - What beautiful pictures! Those will be something to hold onto for some time. I have loads of scrapbook stuff that I always intend to do - but somehow never get around to it. I can just picture of page for each of you because of the uniqueness of the photos and the event!

Helen = congrats - admittedly belated on your #1. I hope you are feeling better.

Marci - hope your mom keeps improving - even if its just little by little.

Jen - I completely understand about christmas - I just put up Halloween last night! I wanted to skip it completely and head right to Christmas - but the kids you know? We also have to do elaborate pumpkins - this year I'm doing a puking pumpkin - gross I know - but at least it doesn't take forever to carve.

Flo and everyone else - I hope all is well and that those summer 2008 dates come quick!

Have a safe and happy Halloween everyone pirate: :joker: :wizard:

Helen...so sorry about Sally. They are so helpless and look to us for everything!!!! When we can't fix them, it is soooo hard!

Lisa...glad you have your power back. It is amazing when we think life was like that all the time for people! You guys are truly troopers getting through it!

Jen...I agree on the Christmas decorating. Usually have at least two trees up by now. With all the stuff I am doing for the kids fundraiser bazaar, I am way behind. Tom promised that Sunday he woul put up our 14 foot tree and if he can, he will put up the 9 footer. Both trees take 4,000 lights...and I'm picky, so it is totally my job. The 14 footer is the traditional tree...with the mismosh of ornaments. The 9 ft. is the Disney tree...it is in our library. I always enjoy that one. Then we do an 8 foot in our master bedroom...Tom and the kids do that one...1,000 lights and NOT to my specifications. Then it is all Lenox ornaments. It is very special. Upstairs we usually have at least one tree in the kids study area...very simple. We also have other little trees throughout the house. Lit garland throughout the house...wreaths on all doors. That is just the start! I will try to take photos this year so you can see.

My dream job would be to work at Holiday Services for Disney! If I could also be a guest relations tour guide through the park. And then maybe...all the "ifs" and dreams...sigh!

Well, better run!

This must be a bad time for Moms. Mine has taken a turn for the worse. Actually she is in a great deal of pain and is stubbornly not going in to the hospital to make sure that we can get this under control. Please pray my friends. My sister is very scared right now. My dad too. He won't leave her side. He definitely hovers.

Marci...I am still praying for you and your family and your mom!

Thanks my friends!!!
Love
tif

Tif - I am so sorry to hear about your mom. All this mom stuff is so terrible. My mom is turning 60 this Friday and we can't even go out for a nice dinner because my mom has no fun eating from all of her radiation treatments. But not to complain - we can still go out. I am sending prayers out to all the moms.

Christmas!! I love it. I (believe it or not) have a tree full of over 100 Goofy ornaments!! And of course we all have Goofy stockings. Since we are music people we have 100's of Christmas CDs. Last year we made a compilation of our favorites and gave it out as gifts. It was so cool. It had a mixture of jazz, traditional and contemporary carols.

Enjoy a safe Halloween everyone! I of course have class and will be late for the fun. Ugh!

Valerie

Tif, so sorry to hear bout your mom :wizard: and prayers. Yours to Marci.

This is to funny about christmas. I love that holiday to. The trees the pine smell and everything else. :sunny:

Tif, my dream job is to work for Disney to. That would be great. Dreams do come true :goodvibes

Valarie, I to have a bunch of Christman music. I love the holiday songs. I start to paly mine on November 1st so that is tomorrow. I also look forthe radio stations in the car that are all Christmas. or play my cds.

flo

Helen -- the part wolf, part husky compound dog (came up as a stray and stayed, thankgoodness, as he is a wonderful dog!) named Butch is also terrified of fireworks. He normally won't come in our house, but on July 4th and New Year's Eve, he heads to the door. Same for thunderstorms. I hope your babies make it through the week more peacefully.

A lot of :wizard: sent out to everyone's parents, but especially Tif and Valerie's moms.

Tif -- did they talk her in to going to the hospital?

Jen -- I also love Christmas! We decorate a lot for Halloween, so we won't start Christmas until this weekend, or whenever Randy and the boys can start getting it down from the attic. I'm afraid we won't get all our Christmas out this year, with me spending so much time between work and the hospital, but I'm going to try since the boys really look forward to it. We currently put up 4 trees, but I'm thinking of adding another one near our staircase.

Valerie -- I also have a lot of Christmas music. Everything from Elvis to classical to country to Disney to Bing Crosby.

Hi Flo, Lisa, Carla and everyone else!

I hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloween.

Okay Ladies...I am truly seeing this whole gathering of great minds as purely a God thing! And I am most grateful for it! Thank you for the prayers...they are our only and best hope! Dad is trying to get her to go to the hospital...she is very stubborn. Part of the problem is that when she went last time it was horrendous. She endured a lot of pain and even some humiliation. She is a woman of great dignity and true beauty...they take her down to her worst. Also, they also put her into a completely sterile environment. So it gets interesting on if they let us visit.

Valerie...enjoy your mom's day! CELEBRATE!!! I hope she is able to enjoy whatever you choose to do! Mine just turned 63. I love the fall birthdays...okay, I love birthdays!!! Tom's gets a bit tricky...Christmas Eve. He and a brother 3 years younger. There is a brother between them on New Year's Eve. Add in five more family members with birthdays surrounding them, and life goes nutty!

Okay...on a lighter note....
CHRISTMAS!!!

Agree with all on the music! We start with movies tomorrow!!! The Bishop's Wife-Cary Grant, Loretta Young, David Niven! My fav! Holiday, with Kate Hepburn and Cary Grant! Of course, It's A Wonderful Life and White Christmas! Throw in A Christmas Carol and Scrooge and Holiday Inn! AAHHHH! Love the newer ones too...ELF, Home Alone...1 &2, The Santa Claus 1&2...and almost 3! Jingle All the Way is always a good laugh. And then we roll into the classics of Rudolf, and Santa Claus is Coming to Town and The Little Drummer Boy! And on and on!

Valerie...post a shot of the Goofy tree!!!! That sounds like such fun!

We do Christmas Eve for Tom's side...we usually host about 50-60 people. Fit in 4:30 mass...birthdays...and then the meal and presents. My thought had been to hold it on the 23rd this year...that way we could celebrate bdays on their actual day! Christmas Eve is so frenetic for us...after we boot everyone out around 11 or 12+...we then have to clean up and get Santa busy for our kids. No one is willing to move the celebrating. UGH!!!! Family...we love them and we tear our hair out too!!!

Rambling and venting again...sorry! Okay...Give your Top Tens for Christmas movies!

Hi all,

Firstly thanks for your kind wishes. Also Im sending pixie dust for all the mams pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: Val I hope she can celebrate her birthday, Tif I know what you mean about getting your mam to hospital, mine is the same.

I am supposed to be at college tonight doing my spanish, but sadly my car has died on me, or rather the petrol tank has got hole (sorry gas tank) in it and the garage are finding it difficult to get another one. So they have my lttle car in pieces rather than me blowing myself up. Im bracing myself for the cost as they told me already it was going to be an expensive big job. On top of that our TV down stairs has given up and is refusing to come on. Oh the third thing is the toilets got a leak.

Why do these things always happen when Im alone - Dave doen't get back until 12th November!!! (Not that he would be much use, but I could of at least moaned to him)

Anyway as Tif says Christmas

Now our christmas film list has the usual suspects but some that you might not expect.

Love actually (Dont know if you have had this in the USA, But it is brilliant well worth checking out if you've not seen it)
Santa Claus the movie
Miracle on 34th ST
Scrooged
A christmas Carol ( The black & white one or the muppets)
Lethal Weapon
Die hard

Oh well take care

Happy Halloween

Helen xxx

I truly think there must be a connection to those who love Christmas and Disney! I think Disney brings out the best in people and a sense of childish wonderment...just like Christmas.

Right now we have a combo of Halloween and Christmas going. John put up the fake tree so we should be all done with christmas decoration this weekend...one less thing to worry about.

But on Nov. 18th we are having Justin's 9th bday party and its Pirate themed so I'm leaving some of the skulls/skeletons up for the party.

We have some great Hawaiian christmas music too.

As for movies....I just love The Christmas Story...the one about the little boy that wants a bb gun for christmas....it is too funny!

Can't wait for Christmas to get here....its my birthday too ;)

Happy Halloween!

wow jen you are soo early. Is this normal american practice?

We dont normally put our tree up until about the 18th Dec.

This year we might not even bother with a real tree and just use our fibre optic ones, as we are going away.

Hello to everyone --- and Happy Halloween!!!

Wow - I haven't been on the boards lately, and I had 5 pages to read!!!

Sorry to hear about everyones' Mothers... Mine turns 69 in January, and thankfully she is healthy, with the exception of her severe osteoperosis. Prayers to you all...

Valerie - cute, fun Halloween photo of you and the guys, looks like a fun trip -thanks for sharing. (My youngest, Addison, sent her Flat Stanley to visit Valerie's family in California, and he has just returned home. He had so much fun. Valerie's boys took him to California Adventures, the Angels game, and a Ducks hockey game! He even got his name on the big screen at the Angels game!)

TIf - Abby is so beautiful - I know you were beaming that evening. (maybe even a few tears of pride that your little girl is so grown up?)

Helen - YEA! Congratulations on #1, and on your successful personal run without injury! I am so glad!

We typically go to the mountains of North Georgia or North Carolina over Thanksgiving weekend and cut our own tree at a tree farm. I am a sucker for a live tree! I just LOVE the smell of a fir!

Can't wait for Santa Claus 3!!

Jen, that's a lot to handle with the birthdays and all the holidays at the same time of year!

I even missed your discussions on Theater productions... Funny, we're going to the Fox here in Atlanta to see High School Musical the end of January. The girls love the songs - really a modern day "Grease".

Believe it or not... I have NEVER been to NYC! This southern girl has lead a sheltered life!

Lisa - hope all is well after the storms and power outage.

Flo - hope all is well with the job. I read that you've been very busy lately.

Tif sorry about your doggie, I'm glad everything is ok now. Our precious mutt, Kellee, also got into too much chocolate 2 weekends ago. She had eaten enough to be toxic, so we induced vomiting - and she was fine. Everyone, please be on your toes, and talk with your kids with Halloween being tonight. DOG PROOF YOUR CANDY!!! Chocolate is very dangerous to dogs!

Marci - Speaking of pets - how is your kitty that had the garage door troubles before the cruise? How is mobility, etc?

Take care to everyone!

LOVE EVERYONE'S LISTS!!! I would love to hear the Benatar song. Any idea if we could send you a CD, could you burn a copy?????
Love the thought of the live Christmas tree...but my mom has been allergic to pine for several years...and there is a good shot that Abby and I are as well. I react to juniper in ELEMIS products...so we have had fake trees for years...but I miss the live. Occassionally I will get real live boughs and have them on the outside of the house.
It also helps when we put them up between September...only twice...and don't take them down till after the Super Bowl! Anyway...love to you all. I left home at 9am and got home at 10:15 tonight! UGH!!! Tomorrow and Friday looks just as bad!

See ya
tif

Great idea Tif! I found some of our CDs that we handed out last year so I'll see if I can get my act together and send them to everyone.

Hi all,

I have a question for you, has anyone ever stayed @ a universal hotel?

I know its far off, but I am busy thinking about Aug 2008 (after DH gave the ok, the other day)

I really like the look of HardRock Hotel. It has been 7 or 8 yrs since we last visited US before they had citywalk or even IOA.

I just wondered if anyone had ever visited them recently?

Hope you are all ok
Take care
Helen xx :wave2:

Val....I would love one of your CDs too! If you have extra let me know and I'll send you postage also.

If anyone would like some Hawaiian Christmas music I'll give a try and burn some CDs also.

Hope everyone's Halloween was great! Our kids got too much candy and had a blast. We even had "Dog" the Bounty Hunter Chapman stop by our house with his kids trick-or-treating. I was wondering why there was a camera and light guy and thought it was the news crew at first. Then I saw Dog and his kids and family.

Well I'm off...chaperoning Jonathan's class field trip to the Symphony today.

Jen

Jen...how fun on Dog! Only have seen the commercials, but he is very recognizable! Also, let me know postage...I would LOVE Hawaiian Christmas music! Sounds wonderful! Hope the Symphony was moving!

I had in The Candlelight Processional from EPCOT the last two days! Sigh!
Iain is going to Chicago to see the King Tut exhibit! This is a big deal, as our kids don't usually get these kind of opportunities! It is a 3 hour bus ride each way...60 kids. Not everyone is real patient!

Helen...no clue on the resorts at Universal. Sorry!

Halloween night some friends were here and they talked about a realy pineapple that they had cut the top off of and planted it? Remember, I was hostessing so didn't catch all the details. Anyway, I think that is what she had said. Well her oldest...a junior in high school...asked where Bob was. Helen was confused..."Bob?" "Yeah...thought that would make a good name for my pineapple."

Talk with you all soon!
Tif

Jen, I would love Hawaiian Crhistmas carols. I am going to start playing my CD ( Christmas) at work tomorrow. I know by us there is a radio station that plays nothing but christmas songs starting November 1st but I can not find it. I sent a e mail to my son and asked him if he rememberd what the station was. He probibly thinks I am nuts. He was the one that found it for me last year. Jen if you decide to do the CD's let me know the postage and I will send to you. Christmas is such a fun time of year. :santa:
Later everyone
