To all who have their docs!


Its 5:30 pm here right now and still no Brown Living in Hawaii we are used to things taking a bit longer.....though I did get my hopes up when Helen said she got her docs.....oh well...hopefully tomorrow.

A big welcome to our new dis cruisemates Momtravels and family!

Another question to experiences cruisers....do you tip cash or add it to your account? I'm trying to figure out how much $$$$ we'll need to bring.

Hi, Jen. We tip cash to room service and to other people for going beyond their jobs, but for the room steward, dinner servers, head server etc. we charge to our account. For the last few months I've been calling and adding a room credit to our account from our credit card. It's basically a gift card that is in the room that shows a credit balance on our account. That way we don't have to worry about bringing a lot of cash, but don't have a large credit card bill to pay off when we get home. My DH is an accountant, so he has encouraged me to pay off my balances in full every month. Usually this isn't a problem unless we've been to Disney!

Welcome Momtravels...this is our first cruise...can't wait! What part of VA are you from? DW and I are from NOVA and moved to Charlotte 15yrs ago. Both Hokies and can't wait for football season.
We are crusin' with DD12 and DS15...happy travels!

How are you doing? Has anyone else got any tickets today?
After work I went food shopping and I bought 2 x bags of mini aeros ( The chocolate bars with bubbles that someone wanted) Dont know how well they'll travel to USa but at least its a start.
Tif not sure if you can eat chocolate, let me know if you can't

This weekend I am going to buy my postcards of Sunderland ( Where I live). Have I got this right, on the back were we exchanging addresses?

Do you think if I buy 20 postcards that will be enough? I am also on the look out for something else. Not sure what though.

I bet this year my case gets stopped @ the airport and I have to explain why im bringing 40 mini bars of choc, 20 postcards etc into the county

It came with the Bahamma documents? Do we have to fill them out, we are not going there? I like the little checklist book, it is cute Other then that I agree there is not much in there.

My documents came today as well!

It's not been a good day around our house. Our cat, who adopted us about a year ago, was on top of the garage door when it was up, and got caught on the door when it was lowered. She broke her leg in a really bad place and might not ever walk well again. We're not sure if she is out of the woods yet, either.... She is currently an outside cat (I'm very allergic), so this is going to mean major changes in our house. I'm so upset about the whole incident and feel so terribly bad for her. I'm just praying right now that she does recover and I'm hoping for a miracle so she can run and jump like she likes to do.

Helen -- I am bringing post cards from Texas in the bags I've put together for our regular posters in our group.

I think a "feel good" movie is in order for me tonight. Off to finish some work and a few things around the house and then plant myself in front of a movie.

Marci, I feel so bad for you and the cat. That is a terrible thing to happen. Here is some to a recovery well enought to be able to do the things a cat is used to.

You are also probably correct about the forms to. I also thought maybe becuse of were the ship is registerd.

Then the sadness for Marci. I am so sorry. How have the kids been? Do not beat yourself over it...animals can be so much more resilent than we give them credit for. One of Tom's hygienists kind of takes in all kinds of animals. Usually they are the ones that are missing an eye or a leg...or are deaf...or have funky attitudes. The thing is...they are the happiest of dogs because they know they are loved. Your cat will be the same!!!! Pixie Dust to your whole family and an extra dose to Cat. We are praying!

No docs for us yet I had a feeling that we would be the last ones. Tomorrow I'll definitely have to go shopping or something because waiting at home is not fun! I'm sure they'll be here soon....as I said earlier...things usually take a bit longer to get here.

Jen -- actually, we haven't gotten our docs yet either. I had called my office to see if I had received a UPS package. They told me yes, it said DIS on it. I didn't think about our DIS board, just about our cruise package. I got to work this morning, and it was a package from the DIS board saying I had won a pirate package giveaway. It had pirate mouse ears, several pins (POC and DIS), a POC mousepad, a DIS polo shirt, a stitch pirate keychain and a DCL mug.

Maybe I'll get my docs today. If not, I'm calling to check on them.

Thanks everyone for the good wishes for Jessie. I haven't heard from the Vet yet, but when I do, I'll give you all an update.

Marci - I'm so sorry to hear about your kitty! Our cat is an outsider, too - I know you and the kids are so upset about the accident. Hugs and prayers for all of you! She may just surprise you with her recovery - remember she found your family, so I'm sure she'll fight to get better!

Flo - congrats on your docs. Marci is correct, Castaway is in the Bahamas, so that's the reason for the form. Yea!!

I guess I missed the Post Card details earlier in our thread. Is everyone just bringing post cards from their state to share? How many, etc?

Marci - Forgot to say - that's exciting about the DIS package. I didn't know they did things like that! Fun!

Thanks to all of you for the very warm welcome! We are very excited to be doing our very first 7 day on the Magic.

Yesterday, I arrived home from work to find DS grinning ear-to-ear. He was holding our docs., and couldn't wait to see them. This is his third Disney Cruise and I think this is the most excited I have seen him.

tomspixie My DS also loves the basketball court. He spent most of his time there in January. Nicholas will turn 12 on August 3rd. Since we will be traveling w/o his siblings, he will surely be on the look out for some pals his age. We usually cruise with his five siblings, so this will definitely be a different experience for all of us! to Nicholas and Iain!

PalmsNSand Yes, we are from NOVA. It's still very humid and lots of traffic!!!
My DD (18) is off to college in a few weeks. I think half of her friends are now Hokies. Hokies football gets bigger and bigger here every year. Congratulations on your first cruise! I'm sure you'll soon be hooked like the rest of us.

How wonderfully cool!!!! It sounds like you got a "boat load" of goodies!!!! That is good.

Well all, lots of storms in central Florida today. Not too much lightening but good rain...very heavy! We have been sluggos today. Even Libby is lazy.

Still no docs..... but a little better news on Jessie. They couldn't put a splint on without doing surgery (the bone was at an angle it would have gone through her skin!!!) so they called to say they would do surgery this morning. They were going to put a pin in, but there wasn't enough bone left, so they wired the bones together. They are hoping that it will hold, and are pretty sure that it will. It might actually give her more mobility with the way they fixed it. She is at the vet for another night, and will hopefully come home tomorrow if she doesn't get an infection.

Thanks for the good words and prayers -- I appreciate it a lot! Please keep praying -- my hope is that she will have full mobility so that she can run and play again.
