Any one else have a mediocre server in Palo?

Sorry to hear of the OP's experience. We've done Palo multiple times (25+) and never had a mediocre server. Yes, some are better than others, but even then I wouldn't rate any of them less than good.

Hope you mentioned your experience to somebody on board or at least in your survey. That will assure that the server gets remedial training and future guests aren't disappointed.

Here's a question; We have always tipped our Palo server... but then I read that's what the upcharge is for.... Is that correct?
No. The Palo & Remy upcharges are not your server's tips. :rotfl2:You need to tip separately.

In response to the OP's question, I dined at Palo on the Fantasy twice during our cruise last month, and had the same great server both times.

I'm not sure why you did the rolling on the floor laughing face, as though it's a ridiculous question. It's a perfectly valid question. You seem to be on quite a tipping crusade the last few days on these boards. Heaven forbid someone ask a question about it.

Exactly. There was a time where it was reported that a portion of the upcharge was a small tip to the server. In the last few years, it's reported, this is no longer true.

But neither of those statements were actually ever confirmed.

So, it's still unclear if any of the upcharge goes to the specific server, into a server's pool, or there is no included tip in the upcharge.

DCL taking a financial loss of $30, $60 or $95 per fancy meal at Palo or Remy and giving that money to their servers is a funny concept, actually. A "funny" idea (hence the laughing face), not "stupid" (I didn't use a dunce cap face). We're allowed to have a sense of humor on the boards the last time I checked. You might try getting one. Or at least having a drink and chilling out.

In response to your other comment, yes, I really value the servers who work so hard for us on the ships and always recommend they be tipped. That's what they deserve. Don't you agree?

I have been to Palo on all 10 cruises, mostly for the brunch. Never had a mediocre or sub-par server. They all have been very professional and attentive. Much deserving of an extra tip.
