Any one else feel spoiled by Disney?

I just got back from a Universal trip, my family enjoyed ourselves, but I must say that we dreamt about Disney while we were there!
I felt awful about it because I wanted to give Universal a fair chance, but I couldn't stop myself from comparing the two!
Universal and Disney just are sooooo different, I won't go into the differences, but I guess that Disney is more geared to what my family enjoys!

Oh yeah! We even find ourselves comparing the cost of going to local amusement parks, resorts, etc. We looked into going to an indoor waterpark type resort in the Poconos over spring break for a night or two. It was $419 a night. We just couldn't do it! We actually considered driving to Disney but we were already scheduled for WDW/DCL in June! Since they were six weeks apart we decided to just tough it out at home! In hindsight probably should have gone to Disney --- DD11 cracked the growth plate in her ankle jumping off playground equipment in OC, Maryland! Three weeks in a cast! But yes, everything we do is compared to Disney.

Yes, Disney has spoiled us in that we feel special and welcome whether we are staying at Pop Century or Boardwalk. Great levels of customer service regardless of what level you are paying for. Our last stay at a chain hotel made us feel less than welcome and for what we paid we should have received a clean room at the very least. And we have come to enjoy our Disney vacations so much that it is worth it to my family to skip some of the local entertainment we used to do to have more money to put towards our Diseny vacations. For instance we have a very nice waterpark here in the Denver area that we haven't been to in a few years. My kids got bored there last time, it was packed, dirty and we dropped about $150 for the day. I gave my kids the choice of going to Waterworld here at home this summer or Blizzard Beach the one day we have in Orlando before our September cruise. They picked Blizzard Beach hands down. Disney isn't for everyone but it certainly is for us! And yes, we travel to other destinations and we enjoy them greatly but we do find ourselves comparing what we eat, see and enjoy to what we love at WDW and DL. So don't anyone feel for sorry for me if I love Disney vacations the most and end up comparing other vacations to them, we all have our favorite things in life (and from the looks of this thread, I am not alone)!

We were spoiled with the awesome TS at Disney. I know it sounds expensive but no more so than an mid/upscale restaurant at home. And NO theme or anything at the ones at home. For example, I would love if we had something similar to Sci Fi at home. If I had more motivation or business sense I would try to open something like that here and play real movies while you eat...It wuld be so much more fun to go out to eat with kids if there was some kind of gimmick or theme that made it more of an experience than just a meal.

As far as fireworks is concerned, I am spoiled by Disney. I still go but it's not "the same".
We live w/in 15 mins of Six Flags Great America and have season's passes. I do compare the two parks, but honestly, while SFGA isn't as wonderful as Disney they are making efforts to change it for the better and alot of those changes are WDW-like. Some things I've noticed this year are face characters (Justice League), a real opening ceremony with characters and dancing, package delivery to the front of the park, character brunch, cleaner park, no smoking except for designated areas, food service set up like WDW in the new waterpark area, even friendlier staff. I see these things and I think "aah that's more like Disney". Nope, it's not WDW, not even close, but it's much better than it has been and I'm glad they are using WDW wisdom to try to improve.

I am becoming a "Disney snob."
I am from Toronto and we have zoos, amusement parks, safaris, water parks, etc. I just do not feel the desire to go to Canada's Wonderland (big amusement park here). I know I will be disappointed and feel that the $$ spent will not be worth it. Nothing compares to Disney. I was talking to a bunch of ladies over the weekend who were telling me all the local places they are taking their children to. I had to chime in, "but you know...if you spend less money at Disneyworld and have an amazing time..."
I will admit - I am a disney snob. :woohoo:

Completely spoiled.

DW and I went to the beach last summer for our anniversary and on the 4th day jumped in the car and drove 2 1/2 hours to MK on a whim we missed it all that much(the kids were not happy when they heard).

It is simply the most Magical place on Earth.

Always compare everything to Disney...especially cleanliness of parks, hospitality, helpfulness and kindness of workers. Our children even compare to Disney. I guess it's official...we're creating little Disney snobs. :rolleyes1
