Any OKW quiet pool pics?

Threre are three neigborhood pools (they are NOT always quiet ;) ).

One is on Miller's Road - across from the Bus Stop between buildings 19 and 20.

One is on the South Point area- between buildings 55 and 56.

One is in the Old Turtle Pond area and has a snack bar (The Turtle Shack).

Thank you. I'm assuming then that Turtle Pond area is requested often? Do all quiet pools have a playground by them, too?

Yes, they all have a playground area.

Old Turtle Pond is a popular area, but most seem to request being close to HH (buildings 11-17, 23-26, 62-64).

If you're interested in being near a neighborhood pool, just request that area (I'd suggest either Old Turtle Pond or South Point) and you should be fine.

Enjoy!

Thanks again. Strange question - Do the quiet pools have background music playing? I kinda like that. :sunny:

I like the South Point pool area a lot. The Miller's Road one seems very exposed to me. I know it isn't, but it just feels that way to me. We have not stayed near the Turtle Pond one yet. All play areas at the quiet pools are sand lot types. There are also BBQ grills available at the pool areas. I don't recall music anywhere but the main pool.

Shannon and Gail, we were just at OKW and the Turtle Pond Pool DID have music playing! It was Jimmy Buffet, I think, perhaps the famous "Old Key West" mix of songs that folks here have mentioned. Perhaps they play it from the snack bar when it is open?

Shan, we love Turtle Pond area and South Point as well. Both areas have their charms. We have been in buildings 55,56,49,35 and recently 41 and all were great. 49 is way at the end and close to the corner of the property near the road - probably the "least desireable" building of all -- and we LOVED it. Close to the bus, not too far to the pool -- it was just fine. It truly is hard to get a bad room at OKW.

With your little swimmers, you might request "near a quiet pool" or "Turtle Pond or Southpoint area." My requests for these have always been met. Most people want to be by the main area; we don't care because like you, we drive down. The pool at Southpoint is great because it is rarely crowded. Turtle Pond is busier but has the snack bar (very convenient during the hours it is open) and a little arcade. My kids love both.

I hope you'll enjoy OKW. It is quite different from BCV/BWV that you guys are used to but lots of fun nonetheless. Promise to share all the great details when you get back. Us poor schlubs that live farther from Mickey won't be back down there for a while... :) And no matter what, this is one more DVC you can say you have stayed at!

Thanks everyone. It has been raining here today so no pool. :( Kids have trashed the house while i day dreamed about OKW for next spring break trip. This is one resort I'm really clueless about. I guess I need to look at a map to see what all areas everyone is referring to. Hubby tried to drive me thru a couple weeks ago, but as soon as we turned in youngest got irritable.

colleen, is this the building you can see from that main road going thru WDW? I remembered thinking how close the balcony was to the road.

I really hope the new slide is finished by then. :sunny:

I believe DVC has decided the new Politically Correct term is "Leisure Pool." :rotfl:

I like the Turtle Pond or Southpoint area better than the Miller's Road area. Just MHO.

O course, if someone knocked on my door right now and said we were going to OKW but were staying on Miller's Road, I'd suffer!;)

I like Miller road and South Point -

don't like Turtle pond - but I understand it is popular - it has a snack bar - one reason I don't like it the lady only serves Tacos and hot dogs - no hamburgers......

I have always like the Miller Road

remember to bring shoes - you will have to walk along the road at some point - even if you are next to the pool (South point)

Just got back from OKW and had a great time. I have to disagree with Collen Costello though. We said in building 49 and LOVED IT. It is in the back of south point area, but great place. We stayed in 4913 two bedroom and 4916 studio. Had lots of little ones with us. The part I liked the most was the walk to turtle pond pool. All you have to do is follow the bike/jogging trail and you were there. It is a 3 min. walk. With little ones it was perfect no need to worry about traffic. They could follow the path and have fun on the way. We will request building 49 again. we love turtle pond pool.

Sorry I screwed up Mr. BUFFETs name! I love to eat so I guess it was a Freudian slip...

Luv2vacation... I DID love #49... Just figured when it was assigned that it wasn't exactly "prime" location but it was great. I think we had studios 4916 and 4910... Both were great. It took us a day or two to figure out the path to Turtle Pond Pool... after that we did well.

colleen costello I have to agree with you on finding out about the path. If the front desk did not point out the walk right to turtle pond pool we would have never known it was that close.
