Shannon and Gail, we were just at OKW and the Turtle Pond Pool DID have music playing! It was Jimmy Buffet, I think, perhaps the famous "Old Key West" mix of songs that folks here have mentioned. Perhaps they play it from the snack bar when it is open?
Shan, we love Turtle Pond area and South Point as well. Both areas have their charms. We have been in buildings 55,56,49,35 and recently 41 and all were great. 49 is way at the end and close to the corner of the property near the road - probably the "least desireable" building of all -- and we LOVED it. Close to the bus, not too far to the pool -- it was just fine. It truly is hard to get a bad room at OKW.
With your little swimmers, you might request "near a quiet pool" or "Turtle Pond or Southpoint area." My requests for these have always been met. Most people want to be by the main area; we don't care because like you, we drive down. The pool at Southpoint is great because it is rarely crowded. Turtle Pond is busier but has the snack bar (very convenient during the hours it is open) and a little arcade. My kids love both.
I hope you'll enjoy OKW. It is quite different from BCV/BWV that you guys are used to but lots of fun nonetheless. Promise to share all the great details when you get back. Us poor schlubs that live farther from Mickey won't be back down there for a while...

And no matter what, this is one more
DVC you can say you have stayed at!
