Any news when DVC members can get an annual pass???

No only dvc owners can purchase ap at a discount.

The general public can not
Unlike the early years when DVC owners were only given discounts a new pass type was created. (And of course discounted AP's were not always a thing for DVC). DVC owners could purchase a particular AP type that is priced lower just like FL residents had options that non-FL residents did not. That was not a discount, just a product that FL residents also had access to. I think the discounts on the other AP's that were there pre-covid did not reappear but am not certain.

There is no DVC discount, There is a special DVC pass that can not be purchased right now by anyone,

Even resale owners who had an Incredipass prior to suspension are getting to renew. So, again, being allowed to renew an AP is not tied to being a DVC owner.

Plenty of cash guests, resale DVC owners, etc. are being allowed to renew into some level of pass.

The fact that some DVC owners can renew into the Sorcerer Pass is simply an option… you don’t need to be DVC to renew…just have had a pass, any pass, for when sales were happening.

We are really going round and round with the same points…hopefully, they will open sales soon for APs for all guests….and that those who are DVC and want them are able to get them.

What baffles me is why they haven't introduced a "resort stay only" AP. It would be the perfect DVC pass, would incentivize staying onsite and it would be self limiting in adoption (it cannot cause overcrowding).
Many of us would be very satisfied with that type of pass - provided it was priced appropriately. My guess is that Disney thinks most of those who would buy such a pass are currently settling for MYW tickets, and that generates more revenue for Disney.

It surprises me that people haven't found reliable ways to get around the restrictions on passes and obtain them anyway. I know Disney is good at what they do but the volume of people wanting passes right now would make me think someone or many someones would have figured it out by now. I don't envy the cast members dealing with this stuff.

I'll be staying one month in Orlando in September. I usually stay 2 weeks and spend 12 days at Disney and 2 at Universal. This time, since I can buy an UK Ultimate ticket I'll still spend 14 days at Disney and an AP will allow me to spend 14 days at Universal. In my case, I'll buy the same Disney ticket but spend 7 times more at Universal in dinners, snacks and drinks.
Also, if this remote working from Orlando experiment works, next year I plan to spend 6 weeks in August going to Universal some evenings with the same AP and the usual two weeks at Disney. More money spent at Universal.

I'm sure there have been many grabbing APs as 'Florida residents' through hacks in the past when they were being sold. But not sure how there would be a workaround passes that aren't being sold. They are numbered and coordinated within MDE. But you have a point - I'm sure some have tried!

That's what I was thinking would be happening now since only FL residents can buy a pass. Surprised there aren't enterprising folks finding ways around it. Or maybe there are and I just don't hang out on shady enough parts of the internet lol

You have to be able to show certain things to activate a Pixie pass for FL residents which is the only one for sale.

The best that could happen is getting a CM supervisor who overrides things and let’s someone purchase…but most will not do that unless it’s to solve an issue a guest had.

As a DVC member since 1999 and likely having given Disney more of my $$ over the years than a Florida Resident, I would like to have the Pixie Dust Pass available to me. I am totally fine with not going to parks on weekends or holidays and other black out days. I find having been a member for more than 20 years, I don't feel the need to go to a park every day I am at a resort.

I know this is unlikely to ever happen. But I can still dream that one day it could happen.

I like it. It's been widely discussed that Disney is targeting the less-frequent vacationers with higher spending limits, so how does it make sense to (only) offer new APs to those that likely have the lowest spend threshold? (FL residents)

Again for local local ( under 50 miles) I can see something extra, but for those that live hours away and Disney traffic or whatever doesn’t affect them……..why do they get discount?

Not sure. I think they would make more money offering AP's to DVC members. DVC is there cash cow - it supports them in an economic downturn, but it seems the establishment does not reciprocate. In terms of when AP will be sold again, I assume when the AP is sold again it will open for a fixed amount of tickets, similar to what CA, unless the parks are in dire need of more people. If we didn't have our AP's I would probably buy a Universal AP and spend my days there, and use my DVC for rest and relaxation. I wonder how many others would consider that option?

I've read many articles and forums that speculate that Disney needs local residents during the low seasons or economic downturns. Disney is trying to achieve that "right" balance that will maximize revenues from both AP holders and day-ticket holders. Whatever number that may be, Disney is probably waiting to release more AP slots when they feel that balance might be off. That's my guess. Disneyland and Anaheim is a whole different story.

I would consider this if the transportation between Universal and WDW was cheaper and more accessible, considering we don't have a car. We're usually at WDW for 2 weeks. It would get pricey to uber to Universal and back even just a few times.

Like at DL where there is (or was - does it exist now?) the S. Cal pass for certain zip codes.

I don't think anyone is entirely privy to Disney's decision making. It's been speculated that there may be some promise to state or local lawmakers to offer discounted admission to residents. Or simply that Disney feels it's in their best interest to curry favor with locals. Those passes are blocked-out out on all but the slowest days.

That's been the conventional wisdom. Many businesses struggled during Covid but Disney did pretty well maximizing attendance despite whatever restrictions were in place. I can't speak to Disney in particular, but tourism is apparently looking strong for 2023 despite the lingering inflation.

If members aren't using their points, most are probably renting them. Or attempting to sell contracts they don't need. Ultimately there's someone staying in most of the villas. And the occupants are likely purchasing some form of theme park admission.

Overall I think it's probably a mistake to not offer some unique park admission catering to DVC members. DVC sales seem to be suffering to some degree. I find it hard to believe that a large number of DVC members are buying 2-3 sets of MYW tickets when APs are not available. I'd be fascinated to see whatever numbers Disney is working from if they suggest otherwise.

I can't speak of official Disney numbers. But as a DVC owner coming from Hawaii, we go for two weeks and buy the 10-day pass and works out fine. We have never considered buying APs. But I could be in the minority. DVC sales may be hurting a little bit due to the lack of APs but I'm sure the revenues from selling day tickets more than make up for that loss IMO. I too agree that tourism numbers will remain strong for 2023. Arrivals to Hawaii so far has returned to pre-pandemic levels. And that's not even accounting for the Japanese and the Koreans who haven't fully returned yet. I don't care what people say about a possible recession. Unemployment last month was at a 53 year low. As long as people have jobs, they can afford vacations.
