Any news when DVC members can get an annual pass???

It’s sad. One less reason to keep both of our resorts (total 400 points). We are likely to sell one of the resorts once our youngest hits 12, which is in 2 years.

It’s not a make a break but it is one more straw towards the camels back.

You could pull this off at WDW if you wanted to
Sounds like a lovely vacation indeed. we work in a beach trip/cruise or two every year for chill trips.

It stinks many members cannot purchase APs. Cannot imagine the frustration.

While we are very happy to be holding onto WDW APs, I can’t help thought crossing my mind, right before each of their renewal periods, that they just may pull the rug out from under us. :wizard:

From what I have read, the capacity at all WDW parks has been arbitrarily reduced. So if you reduce capacity how do you keep revenue up? By charging full boat at the box office. That is why there are no annual passes, and why will not return anytime soon.

There are annual passes, they are just not for sale to out of state residents at this time.

We have the Sorcerer pass (previous Gold). We chose to keep ours throughout the pandemic. I am not sure the capacity was "arbitrarily" reduced. I think they had a good reason when they first opened back up and the capacity seems to be what it was pre pandemic.

I I only read a few pages here so maybe someone already said this. Disney doesn’t really care about dvc members. Annual passes will be available when the general public can buy them. I will be very surprised if DVC members can buy annual passes before the general public.

Everything changes or dies. We accept it or we remain bitter. I choose to accept change and enjoy it. I liked the river etc., but it does not affect my enjoyment of the resort. For those that it does, maybe time to vacation somewhere elswhere.
Actually, this post was what I had in mind when I replied that folks might consider other threads...
But OUCH! I meant no disrespect.
I rarely come to these boards now tho I joined using my 1st desktop after Pete began them :surfweb: :cloud9:
Lots of disgruntled folks now, including me sometimes. (And we each have our own reasons...)
And lots of intolerance.
So I suggested that if negative opinions ruin anyone's "PIXIE DUST", consider other threads. 🤷‍♀️

Very sorry, tho, that you don't believe in pixie dust.
That's what has kept most of us going back for the past 50 yrs :tinker:

Probably more accurate to say that they don't cater to DVC members above any other group. At least not with regard to park admission. Not sure why we should think we deserve to be put on a pedestal in all regards. DVC itself is a vehicle for saving 60-70% on lodging, not for cheaper park tickets.

The idea that a corporation "cares" about any particular group has always struck me as rather odd. In those terms, they "care" enough to give members 10% off many restaurants, 20% off merchandise, private lounges, etc. Those are all benefits which are not offered to the general public.

They care when they need the monetary support or if they think doing such and such will provide higher earnings.

That was what was perhaps happening for awhile although I think it had a whole lot more to do with staffing savings than front gate $$$'s. We saw parks packed on days when you could still select them and also very light crowds when they were "sold out". That's staffing, not reducing crowds or changing the experience. Now there really aren't any days you can't go into any park - quite a difference from even 10 months ago. Still it is either increasing revenue from out of state visitors or decreasing the number of visits from them. Locals can buy though and AP holders renew so more picking and choosing at this point.

That is not what you quoted and what I responded too? 🤷‍♀️ You actually told me to scroll on by. I just found it ironic you did not take your own advice. I live in the real world, not the pixie dust world. Disney is just a vacation destination. While we have a great time, I keep my feet grounded in reality. YMMV

I wish I lived in a pixie dust world. . . I would be fishing the ocean on my boat every morning and then my afternoons and nights would be in Disney. . . no working obviously. . .

but let me get back to reality. . . finish my coffee, do paperwork for work, get kids to where they need to go. . . but I do get to fish tomorrow and Monday so maybe some pixie dust in my world. . . but no Disney right now. . .

Have you called member services? I was able to talk my way into getting our son an AP, when he didn't have one and the rest of us did.
I was able to do something similar back in February of ‘22. I had an AP, but my spouse and older daughter did not (and my youngest daughter was aging in / turning 3). Guest services at Epcot allowed me to purchase for all of us. We were polite but persistent, we had been denied when we went over Christmas of ‘21, also at guest services in Epcot, so we decided to try again. During the Christmas ‘21 visit they had told us to ask again next time we were there…. When we got them in February I assumed that meant that they would be selling them again imminently. I had no idea how lucky we were at the time. We’ve taken 6 trips since then…. I really can’t thank that Guest Services CM enough.

I didn’t want to share this story because I was afraid of getting that CM into trouble, but I think enough time has passed now. She was incredibly nice and took pity on our plight I think. (We were part of the group of people who did not buy annual passes when they first came out because we were told by a CM that we might lose the park passes we had already booked for our upcoming Christmas trip, and were further told to just upgrade when we got to the parks on the last day of our trip). That detail (which we shared) may also be part of the reason why they sold us the passes.

I think some have a different opinion of pixie dust. To me it means some live in a unreal world while at Disney. Such as they don't think people get robbed there or their child is safe being at the pool alone etc. I also think they forget Disney is a business, not just one making pixie dust.
I also think people get disappointed when they don't receive this pixie dust others speak off. I just feel we make our own magic, such as you going fishing and sometimes we are lucky enough to cross paths with people not fairies that make that day a bit better. I always appreciate those.

Don, exactly and I think some DVC members are the worst. When we bought; perks were nonexistent except for very few dining discounts and maybe one for shopping. Not nearly what I have seen come and go over the years. I know some members were led to believe that these perks will always be there, we weren't. I appreciate the honesty of our guide. We know what we bought, a vacation plan that gives us a hefty discount on the room. We are not disappointed when that is all we get.

Wow - that's wonderful that worked out for your family. We were not so fortunate. I'm now canceling trips because we can't justify purchasing any more day tickets. I do believe APs will be back soon especially by summer with the dip in attendance at the resorts. We shall see soon. Disney has lost much goodwill with many of us but their cash cow keeps pumping the money out for them.

If they don’t offer new passes for another cycle , yet continue to renew existing passes a strong argument can be made that Disney is violating our contract by creating 2 classes of direct members.
