Any news when DVC members can get an annual pass???

The question came up at the annual meeting and they claimed DVC is trying to get it. As of 9/2021, there is no discount on Incredipass for anyone. Eligible Out of State DVC could get the Sorcerer AP, otherwise only available to Florida Residents, not really a discount. The real issue is allowing new AP sales. I don’t buy the ”wrong division” reason. Both DVC and Parks report to Josh D’Amaro. That’s where the holdup is.
Thx for posting this. I wasn't aware.

Their actions say otherwise. There hasn't been a discount since Covid. They couldn't even pony up $100 on the Incredipass when it was for sale for a few weeks.

If DVC wanted to give ticket discounts, it could. It has chosen not to.

DVC doesn’t control the discounts. DPEP does.

So, if DPEP wanted to give DVC owners a discount on tickets or let them buy APs, there is nothing stopping them. They are the ones who don’t want to give it to us.

I mean sure, because DVC pays DPEP.

Maybe, maybe not We don’t know for sure if DVD pays them for whatever deal we get.

But, the point is, even if DVC is willing to give DPEP money, if DPEP doesn’t want to offerthe deal, then we don’t get one.
I think it has MUCH more to do with that than DVC not paying them. Even if DVC offered to pay this year, then decided it wasn't money well spent next year, DPEP is married to you and your AP as long as you don't let it lapse.

Does someone have confirmation of a statement from DVC management on sales of APs ?
That would be interesting.

Assuming there is none, DVC purchasers of any status logically come to this forum to express opinions (Disney Vacation Club: DVC Mousellaneous)

If it spoils the pixie dust for some, as it understandably might, they might consider scrolling on by.
Or visit other threads. There are so many to choose from.
:tinker:
You missed my point completely. I did not say people can't express their opinions here, I said they are blaming DVC for something they have little to no control over. As Sandisw pointed out, DPEP controls tickets not DVC.

In fact I was being helpful in that they should complain to a division that might be able to change it.

Since you quoted this to me, I am going to assume you feel I need to scroll by. Well you could too. And I don't believe in Pixie Dust.

While I agree that there is a lot to do on property outside of the parks, I don’t think there is enough for 3 weeks and not get bored.
Maybe we don’t need to do all this doing. DW and I are spending this week at Vidanta’s Nuevo Vallarta resort. Think of it kind of like WDW minus the theme parks but add a beach. It’s a “bubble” and it’s surprisingly big. Not WDW big but bigger than Universal big.

Sleep in. Coffee and toast or a buffet breakfast. Lay on the beach under a palapa with chair-side service, or hang out at one of the many pools. Loaded kindle with plenty to read. A couple of cocktails (her)/mocktails (me) during the noon happy hour. Ceviche or fish tacos or a flatbread for lunch. Shower. Dinner. Rinse and repeat.

In fairness we did go on a whale watching trip yesterday. That’s kind of like one day in the parks, but better. At one point the boat was surrounded by four humpbacks and a handful of dolphins which was unusual enough that even the boat staff was at the rail taking pictures.

Otherwise? We’ve been doing a lot of nothing.

(Vidanta keeps a tight lid on inbound exchanges, and doesn’t really rent that much. I can see why people buy here.)

You could pull this off at WDW if you wanted to.

I don’t know why they would have to pay, there is no discount. We can get the Sorcerer pass with blackouts otherwise only available to Florida Residents for the same price. I guess they could ask for a flat fee for each.

As I said earlier, they both report to Josh D’Amaro. I don’t think he wants to open up more AP availability. He wants to keep the number down.

It’s the “doing a whole lot of nothing” that gets to me. We’ve done beach vacations and mountain cabin vacations and my family is always just bored. We can do nothing at home, we go on vacation to see and experience things. To each their own, but I’d wager that most WDW vacationers are the type that like more active vacations with a little relaxing pool time sprinkled in here and there otherwise, we’d be at the beach.

Without the DVC AP access and discount, it’s impossible to justify the expense of a direct purchase. Even with it it was nearly impossible to justify. DVC better hope that new buyers don’t do any research and discover resale prior to purchasing.

And once you have your blue card, it’s impossible to justify adding on direct, unless you just really care about future resorts… heck I don’t even want to add on resale until APs come back.

It is super frustrating for sure. We purchased DVC in March 2022 not knowing that AP sales were paused. I don't know why I didn't research that. I was an impulse buy because of things that changed in our lives. We had thought about it and researched it for YEARS but then decided on this visit to just finally sign up. It was late in our assigned use year and we were allocated all the 2021 points so we started booking trips. Went back in May, July & December with no AP's and had to buy tickets for a family of 3. Headed back in March & June this year and already booked January 2024. It kills me to think of the difference in cost between what I'm spending on park tickets annually and AP's but WDW is important to my family. It's something that we really look forward to. I understand all of the reasons they've paused sales but it's disappointing that committing to a lifetime of vacations and additional spend isn't factored into anyone's decision making. *Thanks for listening*

DVC has input, but no actual direct control over park ticket discounts. Nor is it likely that DVD/DVC Marketing will want to give Parks money for a discount while DVC sales, and the real estate market in general, is beginning to struggle. They could say, "Hey Parks, help us out here, please give discounts and start up APs again," but there is nothing compelling Parks to do so.

While I agree that there is a lot to do on property outside of the parks, I don’t think there is enough for 3 weeks and not get bored. I’ve done 1 week like that and it was relaxing and a nice way to enjoy property, but Epcot was calling HARD by the end of that week. One more day and I think I would have given in.
I'm right there with ya! Especially the around the world dining options!

Also, only Disney would raise the price of something that isn’t for sale 😂
Brilliant work by those MBAs!
Yes, it was brilliant, because it automatically raised the price of renewals too, and there are many Passholders out there who are renewing.

We have taken a year and half off from going to Disney World. Used our points at HHI, VB, and we are going to aulani and Disneyland in June. We also have had universal annual passes during this time. We finally go back to DW in October. I am holding out hope that APs come back at some point between now and then. We currently have 480 points and are looking to had a few at Disneyland when it goes on sell, but with no APs we will continue to visit the beach resorts and do DW once a year or so.

I was just responding to someone who mentioned paying.

But I agree..they don’t want more passholders right now and because ultimately it’s up to DPEP, and Josh, or others. DVC owners are stuck.

I have said a lot..if DVD could get us a pass or even a ticket discount, we’d have it by now.

It is a little strange that Disneyland resumed selling (and is still selling the top tier) APs and WDW has not. I get it that the two are different and DLR is a locals park. It indicates that WDW is doing fine with selling single day Or multi day tickets. They could care less that DVC members don’t have passes considering people are still buying contracts without them. If AP sales resume, I can’t imagine the online que to buy one and the outrage for those who will not get to buy it. No one can create demand through scarcity better than Disney.
