Any News on Adventurer's Club?

I am just curious if there has been any more speculation about the Adventurer's Club reopening somewhere else on property? There seemed to be a big following who planned to plead their case to Disney (on these boards at least) and I wondered if WDW responded in any way.

Just curious...

We just got back and saw a new building marked as Adventurers Club on Pleasure Island. It was closedbut we were there early. Is that new? I don't know.

Let me clairify. I haven't been to Pleasure Island in over a year. I remember the old Pleasure Island with AC. Last week, after walking over to PI, I was suprised at how much PI had shrunk. It is much smaller. What I am describing as a new building, is new to me but may be a second incarnation of AC that later closed. I have added a link to what I saw. It is the building beside Paradiso 37. The one with the octagonal roof. There was a sign listing it as AC.

Is this the old location that closed and the building still has the Adventurers Club sign on it or is it new? I don't know. This isn't the original building is it? I remember it being bear the big stage with the plane sticking out of it.

From the map, yes, that is the now closed location. I think in January, when I took the kids through PI, there was still signage up. Or painted on the wall? :scratchin

That building has been the Adventurer's Club for as long as I can remember. It's not new. That's the one that closed.

It is heartening that they haven't torn it down yet.

I heard they still do corporate events there every once in awhile.

Practically the best theming anywhere on property.

That is the one and only Adventurer's Club. I don't remember a plane ever sticking out of it (may be wrong) but there used to be a huge stage where the bridge is now so that might be why you thought it was in a different location. They tore down the stage a little while back.

Ok, cool! It does look different without the stage. I'm glad I didn't send out false hopes. I know how much everyone loves AC.

I searched Google images for a picture of a plane on the roof and found 2 different planes in the bushes at the front door and a hot air balloon and gondola hanging from the roof but no plane on the roof. Maybe they changed it up from time to time. Either that or I had too many when I was there. :rotfl2:

The same rumors continue to circle, but in the absence of even a hint from Disney each days passes it becomes more and more a thing of the past.

They had an opportunity to throw me a bone some time ago when they called me regarding an email that was related, and I got nothing.

Disney has ceded the nightlife crowd to Citywalk.

The West End Stage was removed around the same time they removed the turnstiles and allowed free access between the Marketplace and the West Side.

The plane has always been there.

The last event to be held there was a wedding reception in September, the day after Lou Mongello's event, and a couple days after the "ConGaloosh" event.

From what I've heard from different sources, the interior props had at least been in process of being removed and re-purposed for Hong Kong Disneyland. I hold no hopes of this particular building housing the Club ever again.

Nor do I think they'll put in a new Adventurers Club elsewhere any time soon.

Disney could never figure out what they wanted to do there. It was no surprise that they gave up.

I don't know about "never". PI did really well for years. The first mistake they made was to "open" the island and assign the club admissions to the individual clubs. I know WHY they did it - to open up traffic between Marketplace and Westside - but it completely changed the island - and then they started to have security problems, etc. and the solution then was to close the clubs with the hopes of leasing the space to third parties "for a more family-friendly experience". Empty clubs and a tequila bar screams "family friendly" to me...

This is what I've heard, as well.

I've often thought that a similar concept with a different storyline could work well at Atlantic Dance. I don't think I've ever seen that place busy...

Too bad. They should have moved the AC to another location.

Lots of people have suggested good places it could go.

I think in Epcot WS, like in the empty space next to UK. After all, they opened a bar in Mexico, why not a new bar near the UK?

As a cover-charge location, I think it is best located outside of a park.

Of the rumors, the three highest-probability locations in my opinion:

1) Outside of the AK. The rumor involved the supposed "overlay" of Night Kingdom/Jungle Trek on Animal Kingdom, creating a nighttime experience, and the new AC would be the beginning of the adventure. However, this likely made it exclusive to people who payed the upcharge cost. I also believe the whole concept is dead.

2) Flamingo Crossings development - this development has had a lot of speculation of a full "PI 2.0" being planned, although there was a likelyhood that most if not all of it would be run by third parties. This might make sense depending on the target crowd - it is more off the beaten path than DTD and might not see as much off-site traffic - I believe that other than traveling via WDW roadways you need to pay a toll. And last I knew no structures have been built after all this time - just dirt pushing, landscaping, slabs and some infrastructure, as it seems to be frozen due to lack of tenants.

3) Resort location, likely AKL - Make it a nightclub located at a resort. AKL makes sense as it further makes AKL a destination it itself instead of being on the outskirts, and it fits the theme - similar to the Boardwalk as a destination. Built-in traffic from resort guests.
