Any newer TR for SDL?

I don't think it will happen nearly as much at SDL, if at all. There's so many foreigners in Shanghai that I don't think it's as exciting for them anymore. Beijing, on the other hand, gets a lot of Chinese tourists from all over China, including places where there aren't many foreigners, so they get really excited haha :p

This is unlikely to happen at SDL. I have long blonde ringlets, and have only been approached once for a photo on my two visits (and that was while I was Disneybounding as Minnie). There were a few other blondes in my group as well on my last visit, and as far as I know, none of them were approached for photos.

In SDL it's all about if you NOTICE it or not. We had NUMEROUS occasions where people were obviously taking pictures or even VIDEOING without coming up to us, or taking pictures with us, just of us. #creepy. One day in particular was bad since the 3 of us met up with some other friends from WDW and there were about 7 of us milling in front of the castle. People basically never asked, and if they did, it was AS they were taking the picture. (HK & Japan we found everyone would ask).

Apparently it's a thing over there to take pictures of white people and post it on wechat and other such things? It's what a friend living there told us. Guess it all depends on experience lol!!

Can't say we noticed it at all in our recent trip though at SDL it was torrential rain 2 out of 3 days - photo taking by anyone was challenging but on our last fine day we were too busy taking our own pics to notice I expect. In Beijing everyone was too busy taking pics of themselves in front of the sights to bother about us.

We took ourselves and all our luggage into the hotel. At the checkin desk, they realized we were staying on the club level so we were escorted up to the checkin desk on the top floor.
I may have missed it, but what hotel did you stay at may I ask?

I am off to Shanghai next month with my sister. We're staying at a Holiday Inn Express in town for 70$ Canadian a night and we figure that the one hour subway ride to SDL for two days is worth it for all the money we're saving. In comparison, the Toy Story Hotel was 3x that rate for the period we're going. One other reason for staying in town is that I will be doing more travel around and being close to a major train station is an amazing perk.

For the picture thing, I am quite used to it thanks to 6 trips to Japan, two trips to HK, two trips to Mainland China and more travels around Asia. The one time I had the most people ask for pictures was at a wrestling event in Osaka. I guess a tall Gaijin (foreigner in Japan) at a NJPW event wearing a WWE Suplex City Montreal t-shirt was quite intriguing to them? I was asked once too at Tokyo Disneyland to take a picture with two sumo wrestlers.
