any new Sheraton Vistana Resort reviews?

we're there in June and I'm hoping some recent April vacation travelers may have an up to date review. thanks!

that say go look on trip advisor - some of the reviews (even of nice places like the Lakes) have been bad.

considered changing it - but decided what the heck - will be back again and if it is horrible since I am going alone - it won't be so bad.

not like with family or friends who will be complaining - you picked "THIS"

we stayed at Vistana Oct 07 and were very disappointed. On our first night around 4 am we had to switch rooms because our room was infested with fleas (we were in the townhouses) they moved us to cascades and the room was better, but the staff didnt seem to care that we had to move in the middle of the night. we asked to speak to a manager and they did not return our call for 3 days, but the place had no problem bothering me every day to attend the time share sale - of which i told them i dont think i should be around people you are trying to sell this property too. i will never stay here again. going sept 08 and i am trying Parkway International. The only condo i have stayed in and never had any problems was with the Westgate ones

I am an owner at Westgate and the sales people drive me crazy. can't stand a push sales force and westgate has some of the worst.

oh if you want to buy westgate just ask - trying to get rid of mind.

Sounds like their customer service still stinks! We stayed there a year ago (May '07) and had a pipe burst in our room while we were away at MK. They called our home phone instead of our cell phone so we didn't know about it. They didn't leave any sort of note or explaination. LOOONNNGGGG story short, I pitched a massive tantrum. Things were ruined and we were more than inconvenienced. They didn't want to help us move either but they did because I caused such a fuss. I spent the rest of the next day tracking down the GM. I let him have it when I finally got him on the phone. The bad part was that he had not been made aware of any problems the night before. We ended up with 2 free nights an a huge basket of snacks in our room.

On top of that, we do own at Sheraton in Myrtle Beach so we were told we had to go to an "owner's update" that was a 3 hours sales pitch! I was so rude to the sales guy...I let my then 18 month old do whatever she wanted! They were unnecessarily pushy! BTW-it wasn't Sheraton when we bought it.

They called me recently with one of the "deals" to come stay at the new Sheraton Resort down there and I clearly refused and then shared my experience with the Sheraton sales staff.

I don't know if I will EVER stay at the Sheraton Vistana again!

Was there a reason you "had" to go to the owner's update breakfast ? I always find a way to say "no" to them on that. I am an owner. They are so bad with their high pressure sales tactics. I will flip if they do to us what they did last year. They actually called and called.....then left a note on our door and tried to make us feel guilty for not going to the "owners meeting". I am looking forward to seeing the newly updated rooms though. Lakes and Fountains I should be done by the time I get there in August.

stayed there only May 4 - 8 - not the resorts fault - family problems.

anyway the only problems I had was with what the maintence called fixing....

the drain in both the sinks in the master bath and second bath were broken.

their way of fixing it was to take the drain out - another words not fixing it at all.

the maid showed me how to make it work....

also they changed the towels - before the pool towels were in your room - now they are at the pool. So pretty sure this was a versus change.

the carpet is one of those strange type - where the vacumm cleaner can change part of it but not the other part. So it does look dirty - but trust me it isn't. you can check that yourself - just wear white socks.

the tv's are still the small ones. hoping with the rehab they are doing - there might be big one.

I think the rehab is 1401-1418 & 1419-1427 building. Those were the ones being worked on when I was there. This seems to be a major overhaul - they were tearing stuff out.

really hope they replace those sinks - although it would be cheaper to just replace the way the drain works!

I am looking into this resort for our trip in oct/nov. I have a question...do they force a timeshare presentation that you need to attend?? I don't want to be pressured into it...we are going for vacation!!

they can be pushy. At check-in, do not go to the back desk when they direct u to. They will tell u it's for discounts, or special offers etc. It's a ploy to get you to attend a "breakfast" where they will talk to you about Vistana. Just avoid it. I highly suggest unplugging your phones once you get into the villa too. Just be firm.

Thanks for the specifics on the villas Pat. Yes, it is a major rehab for the Fountains I (Fountain II to follow). I normally request Fountains II, but for our Aug stay, I request Fountains I (refurbished unit). Supposed to get all new everything. New flat screen TV's, granite countertops, new furniture......I am looking forward to seeing the modernization.

We just got back from our trip in a refurbished room and they are beautiful!!! They did such a nice job with them. We had a great stay but we always did before too. We were there May 17-24. We're owners...we never do the owners update meeting...just a ploy to get you to spend more money!!! They are also putting a new food court in by the pizza hut express. I think it might open next week.

Which ones are the newly refurbished ones? We are going to be there June 7th - 14th, and I would like to ask for one.

WE were in the Fountains I believe..1351 was the unit. That section was all done. My friend stayed in the Lakes and the were done and just as beautiful!

Rolltide.....it's the Lakes and the Fountains I that have been recently done. But....the Fountains I is not supposed to be 100% complete until Aug. So if u request Fountains I, make sure you say you want a newly remodeled room. Otherwise go with the Lakes.

PS : oh, Lakes has elevators and are 4-5 story high buildings.......Fountains are three story high buildings with no elevators.
