Hi

Looking for any Milton Keynes dwellers who can give me some advice. DH, 4 mates and I are coming up to the Bowl to see Robbie tomorrow. We are then staying overnight at the Red Lion Pub, Wavendon Road, Salford .... I have booked us a mini bus to take us to the bowl as we will want to have a few bevvies in the pub before and during the concert. The company that I have booked through has told me that no mini bus company in Milton Keynes will guarantee to pick us up after the concert as it will be like a zoo, which I can fully understand. Anyone who goes to the bowl know if we will be able to walk to find taxis somewhere, or is there public transport that we could use ???

Help please !!! :confused3

When there is something big on in the Bowl its absolute bedlam in and around MK. When Tina Turner was on a few years ago it took some people until 5.00am the next morning just to get out of the town.

I would suggest walking to the railway station or the town centre (yes it IS an town and not a city as MK likes to call itself) - about 1.5 miles, and attempt to get a taxi from there. Be prepared for a long wait though as thousands will be trying to do the same. Salford is the other side of the M1 from MK so the taxi drivers would most probably take you through country lanes - the intersection at the M1 will be clagged up for hours.

Yikes! Doesn't sound like good news, Jules. Hope you have a great time anyway. :thumbsup2

May not see you in chat on Sunday - I might still be walking LOL, once the drink starts flowing I am sure we will be numb !!

Arggg!!!! I remember knebworth and not getting home until 5am!!!! we are going up tomorrow morning...then parking at a friends house and either walking or getting a taxi to the Bowl...then after the concert calling my friend and she will try and pick us up from somewhere (she only lives 8mins on a good day) then planning on driving home (back to Woking) Fri night as DH bday on Sat plus have 3 kids so would like to be home for Sat morning!!

Wish us luck!!

good luck Nat, shall I wave a lime green banner at you ?? We were at Knebworth also, we went on a coach trip and our accommodation was at Brent Cross, we left the concert and got to Brent Cross at 4.30 in the morning... On our itinery it said after the concert "enjoy your evening at leisure" - yeah right, still it was brilliant and I am sure tomorrow will be too, we will look back and think it all worth it - have a great time, and if you see a nutter leaping about in a Port Vale shirt with red hair that will be me

I live close to MK, and suggest driving..
It will honestly be like a zoo.. and its about a 25 minute walk back to the train station.
Then you have to try and get to your hotel.... which is the other direction...

i dont know what to suggest really other than, I think you will be fighting for taxi's etc..

Have a great time :sunny:

well, we are home safe and sound, thanks for all your advice ... The concert was brilliant .... We ended up walking to the train station as Sammie had said we would have to. The police were making you go that way so we didn't have a lot of choice - we walked for a good 40 - 45 mins in crowds of people and everntually got to the station. We waited probably half an hour for a taxi which was not so bad, I was expecting much worse ... We got back to the pub at about quarter to one, and the kindly barman offered us a drink which we gladly accepted. It was not as much of a nightmare as I expected it to be, the Bowl was great as a venue and I would definately go back

Wow - Robbie knows how to entertain - it was amazing..have seen him so many times and just gets better and better - also managed to get into the golden circle as they were giving out wrist bands when we got there...so got a really good view.... parked at a friends house and they dropped us off and picked us up and got home about 1.30 am.....good venue...

off to catch up on my sleep -as kids had me awake at 7am !!!

night night.
