Any Magic Halloween Cruisers 2003 out there?

Karen,

Your daughter's reference to "Hoovering" made me laugh. We live in North Canton Ohio, home of the Hoover Company, and birthplace of the Hoover sweeper!

Feeling much better now! Almost normal today.

Nadtwins - I did a search using "packing list" as the words to search and found quite a few useful lists. If you haven't found it by tonight, I'll post the site later after work. Got to run to work now!

John

Karen - book me with you for lunch - I am hoping to get back to 5622 but if not I'll look up the new room number, I think it's 7598.
Yes, Monday 10AM for brunch - me and Mum (love that!!)
And also High Tea for Thursday -

Emma - I'd like some down time with you to talk more about your writing talent - you are exceptionally creative and your writing shows it.

Okay, I've packed (sort of) - realizedwhat I forgot in the first go around....so now I need another day to repack!

Saw a wonderful British written play, "Will You Love Me in the Morning" - just absolutely the funniest play I've ever seen. Haven't heard of it before, but same pair who wrote the Avengers did this one and it's non stop laughter.

Rae

Okay, I finally went shopping (like the rest of you did weeks ago). Now I can start to pack.

Jhalkias - Glad to hear you're on the mend. Were you allowed out to go to the Browns game?

Nadtwins - Here is the email for a really specific packing list. http://www.geocities.com/Calgon1/UPL-2_Adults_Warm.html I needed to tweak it a bit (to both add and definately to remove) and it is for adults without children but, it might get you started. Also the best tips in one place thread (might be back a few pages) has a lot of great ideas.

DVCLady - I would second the yes vote for sweatshirts. We went up on the deck on night (by the basketball courts) and the wind was definately brisk. You could also purchse them there, if you were planning on doing so anyway and save luggage space.

Strissel - The dress recommendations say like a sundress or pants suit. No shorts are requested for the high tea.

Rae - Are you still planning the brunch? Congratulations on the weight loss!

KEH - I sent you a PM about the high tea. Thanks again.

Emma - So what was the final decision on a Halloween costume. You did make a decision right? :) I might be in the same boat as you; my costume has not yet arrived and we leave in one week. UUUgh, so nervous.

Carolyn

I am not sure how many are going to be for the Brunch - maybe we need to have another count -

ALSO, is anyone going to be going to Wilderness Lodge during the week before the cruise? I need a favor.

AND besides Paul, Kaye, June and my family - anyone going to be at Universal Thursday or Friday before the cruise?

AND does anyone flying in need/want anything that we can get for them for the cruise?

WHEW!

Rae

Hey everyone, we just got back from the doctors and guess what?!?!?!
IT'S A GIRL!!!!!!!! princess:

We are so excited. We took our DD with us to the appointment, so she knows what it is, so we will have to tell the rest of the family tonight.:teeth:

Besides that big news, everything else is going well here. I am starting to pack a little more each day to get ready.

Have a great day everyone.

Wow! Congratulations! Can't wait to meet you and your bump!

Karen

I knew it!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: princess:
When we meet her what should we call her? So glad everything is going well.
Can't wait to see you again.

Don't forget the strawberries, I am going to the store today to buy the choc.
Also don't forget to bring a container to put yours in.
That goes for Amanda too.

:teeth:

Gosh, I wish we were going to be at the Radisson with you. The thought of chocolate covered strawberries is driving me crazy.

Karen

Dena, Congrats on your little girl!! princess: What a special time! I was just thrilled when we found out we were having a girl!

Called DVC today, and we've been cleared for early dining! Hooray! :Pinkbounc :bounce::teeth: One less thing to do when we're on the ship.

Rae, has Michael been watching those Storm Stories shows on Weather Channel? When I see the ads for it, I always think of him, your little weatherman!

Probably won't start packing until this weekend. I got a good idea in my head of what we'll bring, but I'll get more serious as the time gets closer.

John, glad to hear you're feeling better. Keep it up!

We're almost in the single digits! :hyper:

Tina

Karen I'm not making any promises, but I will try to save you some.

Been trying to get the packing thing done myself. My kitchen cabinet where delivered today way ahead of our current working schedule here. I've had to moving things out of my livingroom which is 1 out of the 3 rooms we are living in to make room for them. I've got no place to place a suitcase to pack it.

We had a great time in Lynchburg, Va, but no trophy to show off.

Karen, I hope you all have a great time at the World. I'll bring the T-or-T list up so you can make a copy.

Don't know when I'll get to post again, have to work everyday till we leave for Fla.

Ok all HELP  Now I admit my 5 year old DS was a piece of cake to raise "thus far" but this toddler is killing me............he is what we call active  He is big for his age (2 years and 4 months), he is potty trained and has been sleeping in a toddler bed for 4 months bc he is so big the crib was too confining. Now as many of you know the boys and I have been living with my parents for 2 months while our new house is being built and my DH is deployed. Cade my 2.5 year old sleeps in his own room in his little toddler bed. Last week he was very sick, bad cold flu yucky bug! So understandbly he cried bc he was sick, had a fever etc. He has never been a cuddly baby when he is sick. I think it goes back to my aneurysm at 36 weeks and all of the time he spent in the NICU fighting to live while I was in the ICU trying too. So he does like to be held while sick just for you to be there. Other Mom's of premies know they are very sensitive to light and noise. Ok, he was feeling MUCH better yesterday, ate, drank fluids and played outside all day. Last night I put him down at 8:00 pm when my 5 year old goes to bed and then at 1:00 am Cade comes into my room and just sits there talking to me and refusing to go back to bed until 5:00 am!!!

1. I can't let him cry bc I am staying with my parents even though they say to let him. He is in a toddler bed and can get up so it is going to be a war of him getting up, me putting him back in bed etc. all night :( Last night I got 1.5 hours of sleep and I can't take it. He has always slept thru the night since he was 4 months old. I don't want him waking up my 5 year old who is now in Kindergarten and I am stumped about what to do:crazy:

Maybe he is still sick or got used to me getting him last week I don't know but he is going to be sleeping on the balcony if he does not stop this mess by the 25th

Also, where should he sleep in our cabin. I had asked for a railing so he could sleep on the sofa bed bc I did not think he would sleep in the pack n play since he is so large...................

I just needed to share but at least I am ready for my Tired Mom's costume:hyper:

AHOY! Mates, Trick or Treat, give me something sweet or you'll have to smell my feetpirate:

Tiff, what if anything is he eating before he goes to bed. If he's not having a bedtime snack try giving him one. But nothing with alot of sugar in it, a peanut butter sandwich may help him sleep. A warm bath than a bedtime story. He may be going through a growing spurt. Now, if none of this works a hammar on the head might,LOL just kidding.
Did you MIL get her Birth Cert. ?

John so glad your feeling better.

BTW, I thought Brunch and High Tea's dress code was resort casual, meaning shorts were welcomed. Sundresses and Pant Suits were for evening dining at Palo. I hope they didn't change it.

Ginger-How was the competition this weekend? Thanks for the advice. He gets no sugar at all and will only drink milk or ice water. He does get a snack at night and I have been very careful on what cold med's he was taking bc I know my my 5 year old DS and myself get crazy on whatever is in most cold medications  I think I will get out Chance's sleeping air bag and put him with my parents and stand guard on the toddler caper pirate:

Yes, my MIL drove to Raleigh and got her BC all I can say is thank goodness I am Type A and thank goodness another thread caught my eye when I was lurking last week bc it spurred me to call her and remind her to pack her BC, my goodness I did not know she could not find her BC at all let alone pack it.........poor thing told me in ther sweet southern accent "won't they just be able to tell I am American"?

Tiff,

We had similar problems with one of ours, coming into our bedroom and staying there for hours. We found the only way to stop it was to take them back to bed and firmly but nicely put them back in. Of course shortly after there was the patter of feet again. And so we repeated the process! Again and again! Accompanied by tears when they realised that, yes, they were going back to their own room again. It was not good for catching up on sleep but it did work in the end - gradually, the intervals between trips to our room grew longer until one night we realised that we had had an uninterrupted night. Days rather than weeks or months.

I know if you are staying with someone else it is hard if they are being disturbed but perseverance and patience is the only way, I'm afraid. I'm willing to bet your parents will have gone through similar in the past, most parents have, and will understand.

If you are getting nowhere a little bribery (I mean gentle persuasion!!) can help. A promise of a star on a chart for every night (or hour depending how bad he is) that he stays in his own room, with a small gift that he really wants after so many stars.

Above all, my love, hang in there and keep calm. All phases pass and the problems just change as they grow. If he sleeps in the day, can you catch up on some sleep yourself then?

Karen

Thanks Karen for taking the time to answer me when you are so busy with getting ready to leave. I am at my wits end since his personality is so different than my 5 year olds and I do tend to have guilt from having the aneurysm while pregnant with him. I would try and bribe him but he just turned 2 at the end of May so he is not able to barter with me yet............wish me luck tonight but I am going to take him back to bed each time. It is weird he does not nap during the day, goes on very little sleep and seems fine but he just wants to see me. Maybe some attachment issue or missing his Daddy :(

Thanks!
Tiff

Rae,

We are flying in Friday and staying at VWL, leaving Saturday morning for the cruise. Let me know what favor you need!

Did not go to the Brown's game, as I am still a bit dizzy, and our seats are in the upper deck. I gave my Tx to a Raider's fan friend;) !

I made Amy happy by doing a Target run instead to pick up those last minute things so we can start packing this weekend!

John

Rae - I was going to offer to go over to the Wilderness Lodge for you because I've never seen it but, Jhalkias beat me too it. :D Oh well. We might take a bus ride to satisfy my curiosity anyway.
Although nothing is set in stone, our group is discussing going to Universal on Friday. It depends how much fun everyone is having at Disney, I guess. Maybe we'll see you there.
As for picking up things - are you going to a liquor store? IF you are (and only IF YOU ARE already stopping at one) I would love a bottle of Watermelon Pucker. Please let me know so I can get money to you. I'm in training to be a wild single woman but, this is about as wild as I get so far. LOL

Dena - Congratulations!!!! Do you and your family have a name picked out yet? I'm sure you can find some adorable tropical things.

Tiff - Was Disney able to supply a railing for the bed? Sorry I can't add any advice. No kid experience here yet. Although I had a string attached from my bed to my younger sisters' when she was younger so that she wouldn't be scared. Weird I know but, it worked.

John - What a nice guy you are. Doing the shopping and everything.

Tiff,

Just an FYI. Our 3 year old is now sleeping in our bed with us because she could not make the transition to the "big girl" bed. I know that some parents may think this is coddling, or too lenient. All we can say is:

We both have to get sleep to be able to go to work in the morning, and,

Every child is different, and goes through different phases.

Only you really know your own children. If you use your best instincts, and always treat them with the love and care they need, it will turn out well. Our son is now 16 (yes, big gap, quit laughing), and he went through phases similar to this. Many nights I would lay on the floor in his room until he fell asleep. Many nights he slept with us.

I am proud to say he is a well-adjusted 16 year old young man, an honor student, champion debater, and wants to go to medical school. While all that did not guarantee any of what he is today, love, kindness, and understanding should help raise good young people, who can become caring adults.

All the advice in the world may not be right for your very special child. Do what you think is right, and roll with the punches. As you already know, parenting is an adventure every day, and every child is unique - that's what makes them challenging . . . and FUN!

Almost forgot, Carolyn, do make that trip to Wilderness - you won't regret it. It is still our very favorite resort, and the lodge is absolutely awesome! No other WDW resort makes us feel so rested and relaxed. If you do nothing else, spend a 1/2 hour sitting in the lobby and kicking back - it's a real treat!
