I had that feeling. Maybe they feel if folks are avoiding all other rental agencies and coming over to them they are acquiring new clients.
This idea is the whole basis of how Hotwire works. Hotels don't mind letting empty rooms being booked at a cheaper rate in hopes that you'll like the place and return. I know it worked for us when we got the Hyatt MCO for only $59 + tax. I loved the convenience so much, I booked it directly thru Hyatt for 2 more trips.
Maybe National knows people just want a good deal and if they can pull customers from Budget and Dollar, their cars won't be parked in the garage unused.
Exactly!
I particpated in this thread earlier and said I'd let you know how my rental went at WDW using one of these codes (67) for a car at WDW in late June.

Thank you. Would you tell me who the code is associated with and where I can find the coupon to print?
If National won't accept it will say so at the time of booking. No one has had a problem with these when they go to pick up their rentals. (I'll be wondering how many other people in line with me are wondering if they'll get "stopped"
)
that is fab!!!! So when I checked for the July 18- Aug 1 I got $364. with the codes you gave me (still great price) so what did you do? I put p/u MCO d/o MCO..the dates, times and codes???? My dh doesnt want for the full 2 weeks (doesnt want to drive on vacation...lol), that is why I put in both sets of dates, so right now I have 3 days booked for $117 all incl. I have been looking for weeks
Well I dont' care cuz I got my answer...I missed a number in the coupon code. So again a big thanks to wisbucky for your help. I will wait til morning to ask dh which he would prefer!!!
