Any luck with August car rental rates?

Has anyone ever used Advantage to rent a car from MCO? How was the service?

Just a head's up ... I just got an email from Budget that they have a special of $159 per week (plus taxes) on an intermediate car using code U273600. It looks like it is good after 8/14. I am arriving on 8/10 but I already have a great rate that I booked way back in March.

I also booked a good rate in March through National but Alamo's current deal with a Visa discount (minus 10% and $30off w/ 5-day minimum) comes in about $25 cheaper than what I have. This is roughly half of what the best deals were a month ago.

Check your Alamo rates, mine just went down $155 w tax for Aug 18-Aug 23.

I rent cars 5-6 times a year and I am starting to notice a trend that the biggest rate drop seems to always be 15 days out. So something to think about.

I am sad, alamo rates went from 110 to 260 over night! :sad1: i waited too long for priceline bid but it never went through. My last hope is enterprise. Does anyone have a coupon code for enterprise? I would appreciate it.

both Dollar and Thrifty seem to have some good prices for the last week of Aug.

I just got a minivan using the code from Orlando Magic Card for a base rate of $239 ( the price before the code was 273$)

Alamo is showing over 600$ for the same week.

ALWAYS make a back-up reservation and you can always try to do better. Lesson learned :(. Check over at Mousesavers for valid codes.

Anybody come across any good rates for the 13-22nd. I have been spending hours on this.
Situation- I need additional driver
Have booked:
Dollar for 206 inclusive but no additional driver
Thrifty same
Alamo for the 14th-22nd for 169 all inclusive with additional driver but short 12 hours, called to ask them to add the 12 hours for the day before and it increased by 330.00 to 490.00:eek:

I can book a 1 day rental and go back to airport to trade cars, but would rather not. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Is there any real reason you need an additional driver or do you just prefer to have both you drive? I would suggest to just skip the additional driver if you can.

Additional driver makes everything more flexible, and allows DH to have some down time on vacation while I can still keep going.

Just an update. I booked a 1 day rental for our first day and then an 8 day renta.l I called the Alamo MCO and was told I could do the paperwork for both rentals and just keep the car without having to return, just go to counter. DH went to counter and was told everything was done. Went to booth in garage as told, and the person there said I needed to change rental to start that day at the going rate or return to MCO next day. After she checked rental, it was for the entire time- Fullsize 8 1/2 days for 197.00 all inclusive.

If your rates are still high, try changing them by a day and adding a one day rental. It saved me 300.00 with Alamo.

BTW, when DH went to counter initially, they offered him a minivan for 12/ day extra since they had a lot of them. I declined.

Is it a reasonable deal to get a compact for 8 days for $136 plus tax= $195.00. This is with Budget. Thanks.

This is from Sanford Airport. Does anyone know if the counter / cars are right at the airport or is a shuttle etc. required.
