I'm wondering about Curves. Anyone here go? How do you like it? How much does it cost?
I just saw a commercial for it where they are offering a free week and I thought I may try it out. Any info you can give me would be great, Thanks!!

Hi .. I go to Curves and I really like it.
Where I am it cost me $100 to join and $29.00 a month ...
Depending on when you sign up they may be having specials with discounts or waivers on the sign up fee ... I wasn't that
lucky:(

But I really enjoy the work out .... alternates between aerobic stations where you run in place or just keep moving for 35 seconds and hydraulic resistance machines that target different areas of the body ..... twice around the circuit is 30 minutes and gives you a good workout ... where I go they also have stationary bikes, hand weights, exercise mats and ab rollers to do additional things on your own if you wish .... they play energetic music and a voice comes on every 35 seconds telling you to move to next station, with periodic breaks for taking your pulse .....

What I really like about it is that I can go when I want to go ... I'm not limited to any specific time that a fitness class is offered ... as long as they're open you can go whenever you want to ....

So I recommend giving it a try :D

In my area, they would not take cash, checks or credit cards for payment...the only way is to let them automatically withdraw it from my bank account. Just wasn't comfortable with that, ya know?

I have been going since November 1. It's 30 minutes rotating a machine and what they call a recovery square. I haven't weighed in yet for january, but in December I had only lost 2 pounds but I had lost 5 inches. I am pretty muscular so the poundage doesn't surprise me, as you are toning muscle that you have. I am much more interested in losing the inches as I want to get down 2 sizes to pre-pregnancy size.

I joined when the joiner's fee was $65 - not sure what it is regularly and I pay monthly $29 plus whatever your state tax is.

And while my numbers aren't huge I can tell I have really toned my hips and butt so much that my pants are really getting baggy. My chest is getting much firmer and my shoulders are squaring out more. I am hoping at this month's weigh-in/measurement to see even better results than last month's.

I don't go to Curves, but they always seem pretty busy - so people must like them.

I go to Gold's for 24.95 a month and they have tons of equipment and it's really nice there. I try to go everyday for at least an hour. It's amazing how fast time flies once you get going on your workout. DH and I stayed for 2 hours yesterday and didn't even make a dent in all the things you can do. I'd recommend it. They also offer all kinds of aerobic and cardio group classes.

From what I've heard, it's a "light" workout for beginners. I think once you've done it for a while, you will probably need to supplement with something else.
