My DH gave me an iPod for Christmas! He gave me the 30g one with video and I am not disappointed in the least, but my question is....
Will I really use the video one or not? I don't want to fill it up with my dd's Hannah Montana or Cheetah Girls videos or my ds's Handy Manny or Scooby ones...
I really wanted one for the music but should I just keep this one and hopefully used the video or exchange it for the Nano 8gig???
Oh, I am not savvy with either one so I am just not sure as to which one I would want??

Any advice would be much appreciated!!!

If you have a favorite artist you can put their music videos on it or go to google.com under videos and most of their videos you can download for the ipod. I have performances people have put online from concerts or tv shows on my ipod.

Not sure if this is the advice you need but - DW has the 30g ipod. I have a Nano. We already have all of our Music and Videos loaded on a hard drive we share on our home network. DW's first goal was to load ALL of our Music on her ipod. She was able to load about 70% of it before filling it up. But, she would have loaded videos on it if there had been room left - but having the music on there was the key. She doesn't regret that choice. I just reload my Nano every couple of weeks or so, selecing a new sub-set of what's on our shared hard drive. I don't care about videos. I don't think it matters if you never use it for videos - it's still very useful for the music.

I have both. I use my Nano (with Nike+) for working out. I use my video ipod mostly for video which I buy from iTunes (movies and TV shows), rip from my DVR, or rip from DVDs, or for listening to podcasts while I walk around. I watch the videos when I travel (great on a plane) or when I'm on the bus.

over on the budget board it was discussed how some downloaded from youtube videos from wdw (wishes in particular!!)

They have more than that but they have several videos from disney you can download and on the ipod it's pretty much good quality

I have just over 6000 songs on my 30gig video Ipod, and no video. I wouldn't mind having a bit of video just to see what it's like, but the music is the reason I wanted the Ipod in the first place.:)

I just have an Ipod Mini. I hate when things get too complex. The idea of an ipod was music, not video. The Mini just does music, and that's all I need. I actually got the Mini in 2004 but switched fulltime from CDs to music in summer 2006. Long time, I know!

I have the 30g with the video capability and I have used it. I scrapbook and we do an annual scrapbook weekend and sleep in cabins, etc. I downloaded a video and watched it one night while there. Everyone else was up all night cropping and I decided to go to bed early to watch my movie.

Beware though, they use a lot of battery charge because of the video playing on the screen. You may have to watch it with your charge plugged in or you may have to interrupt a movie to recharge.

Enjoy

I just got one for christmas, and I'm loving it. I kept talking about wanting it for th video. Well, needless to say, I downloaded my first movie and am loving it!!! Now I need to get DH to start ripping some dvd's for me. I don't listen to lots of music, but the video will be great while I'm on the bike, treadmill, or the ellipitical.

I've had mine for about a year and could not live without it!! I watch video more than I listen to music, LOL! I have last season's episodes of Scrubs, plus the first couple from this season, a couple LOST episodes, and a bunch of music videos. I've been downloading new things to install to change things up a bit.

Be sure to subscribe to the video podcast right here on the DIS for some great Disney videos!

I caught up with Heroes because of my iPod! I downloaded the episodes and watched them on the plane for my holiday trips to Florida!

I can't figure out why you would want to drop from 30G to 8? I'd keep the 30 just for the ability to store more music. You don't HAVE to use video!

I'm happy you guys love your video iPods, but it's the one Apple product I won't jump on board with yet.

I just got a 60 gig refurbished video IPod .It's the bomb

I agree. I also have the 30Gig Video iPod and I have all the music I would want on it. The video model is also nice to download pictures to. It may be a little bigger than the Nano but still small enough for me.
:thumbsup2

I got mine for Chrsitmas and I am SOOOO Tech impaired...can someone direct me to a me a Site that's iPod for Idiots...cause I'm not getting what I am doing wrong...I load my CDs onto iTunes and only 3 songs end up on the iPod.
