Have you seen DVC pop up at all for September, October or January recently through II? I am trying to decide if it is worthwhile to join Interval International through Worldmark to try and use some of my WM points to exchange into DVC. I know in the past people have had great luck, but recently heard availability is getting less and less. I would love some current input. Thanks in advance.

Over the long haul Sept and Jan are by far when most DVC options pop up. Lately I haven't seen much other than HH and VB off season. DVC seems to deposit in spurts so I'm sure we'll see some additional deposits for Jan, early Feb and soon we'll see May. WM should be able to make this work for you but if you're looking for this year, you should not count on Sept for this year.

Dean - How far in advance do they deposit?
The earliest you can see deposits is 10 months and 3 weeks out due to the reservation system. After that there seems to be periodic deposits of the usual times. For WDW this is Jan, early Feb, May, late August, Sept, Oct, early Nov and early Dec. An occasional higher demand time pops up. Most are studios and 1 BR and most are for OKW/SSR. I've seen all resorts and unit sizes except 3 BR. I've seen all times of the year including 4th of July and Thanksgiving. I don't recall seeing Xmas or Easter Week. The best way to be successful is to be looking 11-12 months out with an ongoing search.

Then they seem to deposit a few along. Things seem to have dried up lately though, maybe over the pst 2-3 weeks. If you're looking for one exchange, it's not worth joining II to do this. If you're looking at more over time, it is likely a better option. If one can do the times I mentioned above in a 1 BR or smaller, this can be very helpful. Even if you had to get a 1 BR then rent a studio, you'd likely be better off than cash or renting the entire thing.

One approach I've just started using recently is to book with points then search through II for the same basic time. Then when if I match through II, I have other options with the points or units I had reserved directly. Don't forget to include all the fees including the exchange fee, II membership and extra $95 resort services fee. This makes a studio of questionable value for many exchanges.

I see a few units each day - mostly studios and 1BR at OKW and SS. Today there is a studio at Wilderness Lodge in Jan. I keep looking at it, but there is no way for me to go. Trading Worldmark points would be good in that you would only have to give up the amount of points required for the unit size you are getting (at least it works that way for Fairfield points). I know these DVC trades would not be appealing to me if I had to change a 2 br to only get a 1br or studio.

DVC units are not very plentiful in II.

We also like the Marriotts in Orlando, especially Cypress Harbour and Marriott Horizons. We felt joining Interval was worth it just for the access to the Getaway weeks - especially since we can get Cypress Harbour and Horizons on Getaways in the shoulder seasons pretty easily. I do enjoy those Orlando Marriotts, especially when we're not doing the Disney parks. :sunny:
