I would book suites in a nearby hotel if I had a large group, I love staying very close to the parks... but I did google your request:

We always book houses down in FL as well....but that is because there ARE lots of newer houses available for tourist renting....

Anaheim, on the other hand, is a town that is packed w/ACTUAL residential (and frankly, I wouldn't stay in the neighborhoods not too far from DL just from the looks of them)...there are no new neighborhoods of tourist housing. Go with HOTELS w/suites as previous poster mentioned.
Frankly, the Dessert hotels have a suite configuration which is like an elongated hotel room where you have the standard two double beds, then two standard bathrooms and then another room at the end w/two doubles...so you sleep 8 easily in one room.
