Honestly, if it's dead, I'd totally soak it in water with the battery out. I'd change the water a few times, and I'd use distilled water (less than $1 for a gallon at the grocery store) so you don't have any hard water residue when you let it dry out. If it's dead, it couldn't hurt to try.![]()
Never use water!! Use alcohol as it will clean and displace any trapped water between and under small components.

I put it in a ziplock bag with rice and placed it under a light bulb, that I use to warm my turtle ( I think it's a 40 or 60 watt). Everything works on it, but the date sometimes is off. I wouldn't give up on the rice. It took a couple of days for it to dry out. You will notice condensation in the bag, from the water coming out.
