Guys,

please somebody give me some advice,

I could cry.... we have five room changes within our vacation due to a cast member forgetting to wait list us for the correct room months ago, we only very recently realised we had never received the amended reservation (as the CM had assured us as we had booked right at the opening window it was likely the rooms would come up) but no that hadn't turned up so we called and most of our stay is boardwalk view but we move in and out of rooms 5 times!!!!!!!!!

unpacking and packing 10 times over a vacation in the same villa complex location is a tough one with young family and pregnant and a DH who is currently quite badly injured following an accident :sad1:

MS apologised for the CM error in not wait listing us but said there was nothing we could do, but keep phoning up to check, we have been phoning but getting nowhere

Has anyone got any ideas what we can do?

thank you all my DIS friends in advance for any help or guidance

I know there probably isn't anything we can do but thought i would ask you guys as you all seem to have little gems of advice ready in these situations and i'm just a bit emotional today... sorry :sad2:

Thanks

I'm not sure I understand you.
These "room changes" -- are you changing room catagories? ie. from studio to 1 bdrm? and/or are you changing view catagories ie. boardwalk view vs garden? both??

If you aren't changing room sizes, or view catagories, I would think so long as those are constant, even if you have 5 "reservations" they could all be linked together so you don't have to move at all....are these nights all on points?

edited to add:
I see where you say most of your stay is in a boardwalk view - personnally, to avoid the work in moving I'd see if you can't find a view catagory where all of your nights are available (like a pool or garden view)...have you asked MS if something like that is available?

Sorry for the mix up. Since you were only wait listed and there are no guarantees with a WL I not sure you really could have expected more than your original reservations. The only alternative I can think of is having MS check to see if any resort at WDW has a villa for you the entire time or split your stay between two resorts so you'd only have two moves.

Another thing you could do is write to DVC member satisfaction. dvcmembersatisfactionteam@disneyvacationclub.com Sometimes they can work miracles.

Not due to any fault of MS, we had a similar "bouncy" stay at AKV last December. We moved three times. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, but it could have been better. Our problem was that I was trying to get reservations during one of the highest DVC times. If you want you can read the trip report here.

I'd open up your sights to any resort that could give you a better reservation. I'm pretty sure that if we had looked at SSR instead of focusing just on AKV we would have been able to get what we wanted.

Good luck.

I also don't quite understand how you're ending up with 5 moves within the same category but do agree with the suggestions to look for other openings that will either eliminate moving or reduce it a bit. I'm sure if you were planning on a boardwalk view you feel reluctant to not have it but it sounds like all the moving will cause a lot of distress - which I agree with.

Personally, I hate to move at all during a trip. I would call to see if there is any availability for your entire trip at OKW or SSR, and forget BWV this time.

I'm with Chuck. I'd rather stay at a "less favorite" resort and not move.

Well, I can't give you any advice, but maybe some comfort from our own experience. Due to a CM mix up once, we arrived at HHI to discover that half our reservation had been cancelled. And since we were flying, we didn't have the option (nor did we want to) leave early. They told us the resort was sold out, Member Services appologized but couldn't really help us. Everything worked out, although at the time I was in a panic and sure we'd be sleeping under the trees with a matress we'd "aquired" from a room. And yes, we do look back on it and laugh about "the year we took a grand tour of the HHI resort". It seemed as if after the first couple nights, we had to move every day to a new room.

I agree with the others, no DVC resort is worthy of 5 moves. I would take anything they had that would keep me in the same room.

I totally agree.

Make me number five. SSR and OKW are wonderful resorts. See what you can find for all your nights. But you may wind up with points in holding if you use less points. And that might be worth it.

I also agree that OKW and SSR are wonderful resorts. Don't spend all that precious time moving. You'll have much more fun if you stay in the same villa during your vacation.

If you can't get the same room at one resort for your entire stay, try doing a split stay at 2 resorts. That way you only have to move twice rather than 5 times.

Add me to this list too. I would stay anywhere I did not have to move and that I had the points to cover. Try a new resort if possible. Good luck!!

what Sammie said! Why would you want to put yourself through all of that?

If you don't change resorts as already shared, I would make sure that once you are within 7 days of your checkin call twice daily to see if anything has become available. You might cut your moves from 5 to 2, who knows. The reason for doing this 7 days out is that waitlists are only held until 7 days before checkin. At that point, all waitlists are canceled unless you call. Some people have been very lucky getting a prefered reservation during this time. Best of luck.:goodvibes

:faint: I'd either change resorts or keep calling until you get high enough up on the food chain and are able to speak with someone who can remedy this. I am all about split stays but would never do this.

Another vote for changing resorts. That would be without a doubt what our family would do. All the resorts are wonderful for what they individually have to offer and we would never be sad to be in anyone of them. No resort is worth having to change 5 times if there are other options out there.

I agree with this poster... I wouldn't mind one move but to move several times it way toooo much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you all, you have all reinforced what I suppose I was too resigned to accept... We may not get boardwalk this year, we really wanted to stay there this year, but as you all rightly say it is too much!

I have taken the advice of contacting member satisfaction team in case they can offer any ideas/solutions, the 7 day prior also sounds interesting but I suppose it leaves us open to having to take our original itinerary if nothing comes up.

Thanks all for listening, think the hormones got on top of me and I couldn't see the wood for the trees as they say.

Thanks :goodvibes
