Any guesses on Wine and Dine 2014

I know Run Disney is hard to predict, but we are scheduled all our work vacation for next year and I was curious if anyone had any guesses/rumors on which weekend Wine and Dine would be next year? Nov 8?

My first guess would be November 1st but it could be the 8th. That is of course if they keep the race on the last weekend of Food & Wine. At least once it was on the first weekend instead of the last.

It's fairly easy to predict....

November 7-8.

Its in the 2013 program. Obviously, there is a lot of small print - the most important being, everything is subject to change. The date becomes 'real' once entries open.

Thank you!

I want to run that race next year. I have always wanted to run a night race and couldn't decide between w/d or Las Vegas R/R half. I couldn't justify doing both. I want to do the Disney because its in Disney...and I heard some crap stuff about the r/r in Vegas. For one, too many people and not enough water/pop's or organization.
Plus the w/d is Disney, nuff said on that.

First a disclosure...

I do not run RnR events after 3 fails on their part out of 3 races.

I would choose Disney as well. The Vegas race has been a case study in poor planning, poor layout and letting too many runners on course. It would have been a 4 out of 4 if I would have run the one I was looking at.

Amazing what happens when an organization that started out catering to runners gets turned into a company, bought by a hedge fund, and shifts focus to making money.

I am SO doing the W&D half next year! Anyone know when the actual dates should be announced? I started running in June just so that I could do the Jingle Jungle 5K (had NEVER ran before that) and I'm addicted! Had to cancel our trip this year and missing out on the Jingle Jungle......but next year we WILL be there and I WILL be signed up for the W&D half! :yay:

I was wondering and came here to look, though, how far in advance they announce the next year's dates?

Look 6 posts up. The date has been published.

Have to just add, even though this is a disney site, just did RnR vegas last weekend and it was awesome!! The course was amazing, plenty of water, support. Expo was great. Only negative out of all of it was a couple dark spots between 8 & 10. One of my favorite halfs to date.... Amazing running on the strip! Just wanted to give a positive spin.....

Sounds like our friends at Competitor finally got it right. This has been a cursed race ever since they took it over.

I have been a runner for awhile but my wife has just started to embrace it. When I schedule races for her she gets more motivated. She wants to do the princess but doesn't want to wait that long. If we do the twilight 10 miler or wine n dine half which is better.? Also Has anybody every checked in before the race and still been able to get free dining? I am pretty sure the weekend is blacked out but I have heard it has started the Sunday of the race. We have been the last two falls and like the no hassle of the plans.

I'm so excited to run this one again! :cool1:
I got swept at Mile 9 this year but can't wait to go back and cross that finish line! :thumbsup2

It's personal preference. Tower of Terror is shorter, but Wine and Dine has (in my opinion) a more interesting course and after party and it certainly has better weather. For me, despite being longer, Wine and Dine would be the better run.

Chances of free dining are low-to-none. Free dining as a promotion is really being done away with, save for the occasional pin code and late August through maybe early October (though more realistically, late September) which was historically the first and only free dining period of the year.

And somebody can correct me if I'm wrong, but if you check in before a free dining period, even if it starts a day or two into your trip, you are not eligible for the promotion. Check in has to be on or after the start of the free dining promotion, though if you check in on the last day of a free dining period, your free dining will extend the length of your trip, even if the length of your trip is outside of that dining window.

I would not count on, hope for, or expect free dining for Wine and Dine. Maybe Tower of Terror, but if I remember right, free dining ended in late Sept and had another week or two in early October, but it did not include ToT weekend.

I plan on using free dining during this time next year and running F & W. You need to check in during the right dates though which hasn't been a problem for us. I can't link right now but the dates are listed on mousesavers website as well as a few places here for previous years.

This second round opens up around the beginning of August. There's no guarantee that it will be available but we used it in 2011 and I know it's been available in 2012 and 13.

I have never done Wine and Dine before. I have never done a race at night before so I will sign up for this one when it opens.
It was a toss up between the Rock and Roll Las Vegas one (night also) or W&D and I would rather do the Disney.

Bad part is, I go to bed rather early. I mean, starting a race at a time that I normally am in bed will be completely different but the idea amuses me.
