I'm going to bring this in as a treat for my son's third grade class for V-Day. A woman at work once brought in a version of it using Entemanns' Louisiana Crunch Cake , sliced strawberries and whipped cream and it was :cloud9:

She had a big glass bowl for it and it looked so delish the way it was presented so I just ordered a *trifle* bowl from Amazon and hoping this will work.

Has anyone heard of this recipe and can give me the specifics on how to layer the cake, whipped cream and strawberries?

Or have another recipe to share?

Thanks for any ideas/advice. :goodvibes

This recipe isn't as fancy but is sooo good and easy.

Two packages of Twinkies (or the Little Debbie version works great, too)
Family size cool whip
Frozen, sliced sweetened strawberries (thawed)

You can layer the Twinkies whole or cut them up, however you wish. Then layer strawberries, cool whip, then repeat. Chill in fridge until ready to serve.

Very quick recipe - it takes longer to unwrap all the Twinkies than it does putting together the rest of the dessert!!

We do "Strawberries In the Snow":

Sarah Lee Frozen Pound Cake (thawed) cut in half lengthwise, then cubed

3 boxes of cheesecake instant pudding mix made according to package directions

Strawberries (fresh or frozen will work, if you do frozen I suggest the sliced strawberries with the syrup and don't defrost them quite all the way.)

Cool Whip

Layer half the pound cake, then 1/2 of the pudding, then 1/2 of the coolwhip then 1/2 of the strawberries, repeat.

Super Easy and very tasty!

I make a yellow Betty Crocker cake with fresh whipped cream and strawberries. I layer the cake and fill the middle, sides and top with the cream and strawberries. Comes out very pretty.

thanks for all the great ideas. I may have to try them out and sample them myself they sound so yummy!

I always make it with the sponge cake recipe from Joy of Cooking....Just cut fresh strawberries and mix with a bit of sugar and (optional) fresh lemon juice to taste, and layer cake on the bottom, sweetened whipped cream, then strawberries, next layer and whipped cream then strawberries in a pretty pattern.

The lightness of the sponge is a nice contrast to the rich cream, and it goes down like velvet.

BTW...cake, whipped cream, and strawberries...it's almost foolproof!
