We're going to be in WDW for 2 weeks in August and we're always looking for new places to eat both on and off-site. We are not generally fans of chain restaurants (Olive Garden, Carrabas, Applebees, etc.), preferring to frequent family or chef-owned establishments. One thing I was wondering was if you know of any vegetarian restaurants, or at least ones that have a good selection of vegetarian options. DD13 is vegetarian and DW and I happily eat vegetarian meals frequently as I don't eat red meat and she's allergic to seafood. Any tips would be appreciated. We'll have a car and will be staying on 192 in Kissimmee. We don't mind driving 20 minutes or so for a good meal.

There's the new Sweet Tomatoes at Crossroads -- that should help at least for one meal.

I think Deb at www.allears.net offers some suggestions for vegetarians too. And maybe PM LisaS. I know she and her husband are also vegetarians, as is MikeDVC's wife.

I have heard good things about sweet tomatoes.

I usually look up restaurants on happycow dot com. Their list of retaurants for major cities is pretty good. Also if you have the iphone there is an app call ivegetarian (free). it has a decent list also for major cities. Not so much for small towns.

I hope this helps.

Hey there, stranger! I have not seen you in a long time :).

Giordano's Pizza has really yummy stuffed spinach pizza. Even though we are carnivores, we almost always get the spinach and mushroom!

Sweet Tomatoes is also quite good. It has a giant salad bar plus all kinds of other vegetarian goodies including soups, potatoes, pizza bread, muffins, etc.

Hi robinb! Yes, I've been away for a while. We haven't been to WDW since 11/07 so I haven't been in the Disney groove lately.

We know all about Sweet Tomatoes and have eaten at the one on Kirkmann Rd. many times. I was glad to learn about the new location at Crossroads and I'm sure we'll eat there at least once (probably twice) during our 2-week stay. And I'll check out happycow. I think I've used that site before. My daughter has an iPod touch so maybe we'll check the app for that also.

Thanks everyone.
