Any good eats on I95?

If you would like some really good eastern NC BBQ, Bill's BBQ is right off I-95 in Wilson, NC. They have a great buffet with chopped BBQ and all the fixin's. They also have a whole pig out for pickin'. All the sweet tea you can drink. You also have to try the chicken pastry, yams, and collards...yum.

Come on people. Any other good eats? That is a long distance, there has to be something. To OP, we are big triple D fans too:thumbsup2

Oh goodness... that BBQ place sounded good!

I'm originally from up north, but now we're in NC and only drive I-95 from I-26 in SC on down to FL.

Anyway, I've been missing an old favorite restaurant that we used to have several of in NY - Bennigan's. I LOVE the Monte Cristo there! Fabulous! Anyway, we found a Bennigan's in GA... I think it's just off exit 109 - Port Wentworth (or something like that). It's back behind some other restaurant near some hotels.

Sorry about gettng stuck on chains, but there are quite a few Cracker Barrels and Golden Corrals along the route... like 'em both a lot too!

As far as local, non-chain restaurants go, we'd like to hear of some... kinda wish there was a Triple D dedicated to I-95 travelers...

That show makes me hungry...

Okay I have another bbq place, right south of Richmond, va. Nanny's bbq has the best hushpuppies., great bbq buffet, but it also has chicken, ham. Exit 45.

bumping: for all the summer drivers out there!

Any other places?

Lone Star BBQ off I95 in Santee. Its actually about 10 minutes off the interstate but worth it. Coming from the north get off at the Santee exit that occurs after you go over the lake, turn right at the light and drive about 1 to 2 miles down the road. You'll see a sign for a state park on the right and a golf course on the left. Turn right go down about 1/4 mile and its on the left. It's three old country stores pieced together with a working general store in the front.

It's our first time driving and we are also looking for some local places to eat so keep the recommendations coming. I read some reviews on the lone star as mentioned by the previous poster and it sounds pretty good. Any more ideas not too far off 95 would be great.

You know the type, like something Guy Fieri would love :lmao:

Guy would love this place, esp. on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives! :thumbsup2 The owners would kill me for saying this, but it would fall under the dives catagory! It's a very eclectic place with lots of antiques and what-nots! They make a terrific hamburger steak with onions-it's served with homemade mash potatoes and slaw! Voted best around these parts! Their french fries are cut by hand and their fried chicken is out of this world! They also serve livers and gizzards, seafood, BBQ, sandwiches and more.
If I've peaked your interest, PM and I'll give you directions! They're open Thurs-Sat. and Monday for dinner.
If you stop by, be sure to check out the log that has an angel on the inside-yes, exactly what I said-when the log was cut there was an angel carved out inside.

Bill's is about 1 hour from where we live. It is very good. My Dad's wife (who lifes next door to us) loves Bill's. We try to take her there every couple of months.

Since we have never travelled south, we are looking for some good southern BBQ for dinner our first travel day (taking 2 days to travel.) Googlemaps puts us near Columbia, SC around dinnertime, but with the kids, that timeline might not happen. So, the various suggestions of BBQ up and down through the Carolinas is real helpful.

In Columbia, I found Little Pigs BBQ. I know nothing about it, but it looked pretty good to us. I'll stick several of the suggestions here in my GPS, that way I can select depending on where we are at dinner time. They all sound good.

Little Pigs is good- you won't be dissapointed. If you are in Columbia around dinner time and need non BBQ there is always Zestos. It's a chicken burger joint nothing with a big wow factor but it is soooo yummy. Then there is Bernies Fried Chicken- again not bbq but they just do something to a chicken- I don't know what.

These are great guys! Too bad I can only stop once for dinner!

Just saw a Triple D place last night that said it was in Jacksonville, FL. You would have to check out the website to check fro name and location. They weere making their own Tasso Ham. Yum!

Also, if the PP that was talking about Dukes is the same familly that had a location in Beaufort, it is definitely worth looking for!

I have never heard of these places. They sound great!!! I do love Cracker Barrel and Golden Corral, but these places sound yummy!
LOVE the ideas! Thanks for all the input. DH is going to be very happy to hear some new ideas instead of the 'usual'.
You guys are awesome :thumbsup2
