any glasses wearing DisBrides??

Ok, so I know this is totally vain, but this is really stressing me out.

Do I wear glasses at my wedding? They just don't seem very "bride-y." You NEVER see brides wearing glasses, but I haven't regularly worn contacts for over 6 years. DF hasn't even seen me without glasses...well..except for at bedtime..and..stuff...

I wore contacts ONCE last summer when I was a bridesmaid, and my eyes turned all crazy bloodshot and nasty by the reception. SUPER ATTRACTIVE.

I suppose I could start trying different types of contacts again...

Thoughts?

Maybe just walk down the aisle and for the formal pics...or will you be squinty?

Try some Acuvue disposable contacts....they are very comfy...how much time before the wedding?

I've seen a few brides on here that wore their glasses. They looked great.

My one friend was in a very similar situation to you. She wore contacts for her wedding day when she NEVER usually wears them. Her eyes were itchy and irritated all day. In the end, she was very upset she wore her contacts at all.

But, in the end, it's your wedding day and you'll probably want to be as comforatable as possible. If glasses make you comfortable, then stick with them. Maybe you could get some new frames during your wedding accessory shopping?

If you do decide to go with contacts, you'll need to build up your resistance to them for a few weeks or months ahead of time. When I was new to contacts, the doctor suggested that I started out wearing contacts only a few hours a day. The first day was 4 hours, then I increased it an hour every day. It still took awhile to get used to them, but that way you're not going to be stressing your eyes for one day. Plus, that will give your DF time to recognize you without your glasses too

nope! totally blind. I would not only be squinty, but I would likely trip and/or run into things. Several times.

I agree..be as COMFY as possible...I wore ballet slipper flats and a dress that looked great AND was comfortable....

Have worn contacts for years now...

My perception may be skewed for that reason.

my sister who just got married, wasn't a disbride (though she did look like a laughing: ) but wears glasses. She can't see anything without them and contacts for her prescription are crazy expensive. Soooo, rather than wearing her thicker framed glasses, which aren't very bride-y, she went to lenscrafters and bought a really nice inexpensive dainty pair! They looked great!

I never wear contacts. I didn't have any and DF hadn't ever seen my without glasses either. I decided that in 20 years time my glasses would probably look very trendy. I got contacts and I've been practicing wearing them.... this way my eyes get used them, DF gets used to seeing me without glasses, and I get used to seeing without squinting.

Somewhere in my PJ I had debated the glasses/contacts things for my engagement pictures. I wore teh glasses for them and they are beautiful, but for the wedding I'll do contacts.

PS Maggie (Maggimus) wore here glasses on wedding day.

If you choose to wear contacts, you need to gradually work up to the amount of time you will be wearing them on the wedding day, you cannot just put contacts in and wear them for 12hrs on your first day wearing them. Also make sure to have eyedrops with you, either in your purse or in a bridesmaid's purse, just for emergencies.

Maggimus was a DisBride that wore glasses at her wedding, and she looked great!

I wear glasses, and I've wondered if I should wear them. I think I ultimately look better with glasses, AND my glasses match my dress, believe it or not. So I will wear them for at least a portion of the day.

If vision isn't an issue for you, then put your glasses on with your dress, and see if you like the look.

I think the idea for dainty specs is a great one! I wear glasses for driving as does hubby so we left ours off. Both of us have transition lenses - can you just imagine the outdoor wedding pictures?

I feel your pain!!! I'm legally blind without my glasses. I've been in glasses since the 2nd grade! We are having our VR next month and I'm going through the same turmoil. I NEVER TAKE PICTURES WITH MY GLASSES ON, UGH! I always make people wait so I can take them off. However, for our 1st wedding, I opted to wear my glasses because I wanted to see what was going on plus I didn't want to kill myself going down the aisle. I don't regret it at all. When I could I would take them off, so I have some pics of me with and some without my glasses. For my VR, I will probably do the same. For the ceremony pics, I will probably have my glasses on, but for the formal shots I will definitely take my glasses off! Good luck, I totally know where you are coming from!

I wear glasses as does my DF and we are both planning on wearing our glasses. Our eyes are pretty bad and getting contacts would be too expensive.

I say, if you like your glasses (or used to the look) just think of it as another accessory! I wear glasses daily, but I've saved my last pair of contacts for the ceremony.

It makes me feel a bit better knowing I'm not the only one that has stressed over this...

I'd really rather not get contacts...I hated them and stopped wearing them since they drove me nuts. But I suppose they do make more comfortable ones these days. I really like the idea of just taking off the glasses for some pictures! That seems so obvious, but I never would have thought of that!!

Maybe I'll try on some dresses...and have my mom take pictures of me with and without glasses. and see how that goes. I'm probably due for an eye exam...so maybe then I can get new contacts or some sexy new bridal glasses...

I had my eyes lasered a couple of years ago after 30 years of wearing glasses, so it wasn't really an issue at THIS wedding However, I wore contacts for my first wedding and it was the stupidest thing I ever did (actually... the whole marriage was... but I digress!). Me and contacts just never got on properly so why I thought I would be OK to wear them for 14 hours straight on my wedding day was beyond me. My eyes were shut on the majority of the photographs as I was blinking probably 4 times more often than I normally do... and by the end of the night I looked like a total lush with bloodshot eyes and a blinking issue who had been swigging bourbon straight from the bottle... Wait... perhaps i HAD been!!


I would certainly go with what you feel most comfortable in. Go look for some 'wedding' glasses the same way you would your wedding jewellery or headwear and think of them as an extra accessory. You will really regret feeling uncomfortable on your wedding day... I know I did. IF you really want to go without your glasses... then I can't recommend starting with contacts now instead of waiting until a couple of weeks out. Hopefully by the time the wedding day gets here, you will be well used to wearing them

Second: I feel your pain on the "looking like a lush" thing. I'm just thankful I was only a bridesmaid when it happened to me last summer--and luckily I didn't notice until the dance started. I tell myself it was too dark for anyone to really tell.

Third: After all these stories, I'm really starting to remember the pure evilness of contacts on my eyeballs, and even with months of practice, I don't think my eyes could handle it (I will be getting married at Leu Gardens..and did I forget to mention I have HORRIBLE allergies?!).

Sounds to me like you've solved your dilema! Maggie was the cutest thing in her pictures, and Lindsay's e-pics are the same! If your glasses make you happy, then maybe go with a cute flirty "wedding" pair! Your eyes will thank you...(and you'll recognize yourself in the photos )

I had the same problem! But my eyes are so dry that contacts have never been a good option for me. So both my DH and I wore our glasses and I have no regrets.

I really like the idea of just taking off the glasses for some pictures! That seems so obvious, but I never would have thought of that!!

Just be careful you don't wind up with red marks on the bridge of your nose (my glasses are notorious for leaving these!)

Last year when we went to WDW I wore my contacts and DF wore his glasses... he kept having to take them off for rollercoasters, and I wouldn't be able to stand that! just an fyi. ... I like wearing contacts in the parks (and for our pics), but if you aren't comfortable wearing them, don't. Nothing worse than being uncomfortable on the most important day of your life!
