Any gifts that were a surprise hit???

I've been thinking about odd gifts that might have been a hit in our family, and honestly, couldn't think of anything. I know my kids so well that I knew they'd love everything I got them. I have 2 teens and I can actually pick their clothing out quite easily and they always love it. HDTVs, iPods, tools (for son), etc.. I knew would all be big hits.

Then it hit me. I bought my son one of those dangling (from the hood of a car) lights so he could work on his car after dark. He never even thought about asking for one, but back in the summer, he and his friends were at a friend's house and had to stop working on someone's car because it was too dark. At that time, I knew I'd be buying him that light for Christmas and he was literally blown away that I'd (his mother) would ever think of such a thing. He loves it. He also loves the other tools he got, but he asked for those (and I HATE buying buying tools, they are SOOOOOO danged expensive). It really makes me sick to buy them. LOL 2 Hollister sweatshirts, or a set of wrenches? ;)

I bought DD 23yo a Disney Princesses shopping bag. The reusable kind you would use to go to the grocery store. It cost $2.50 and she loves it.

I got a wii and a wii fit from my inlaws. I LOVE IT!!! And boy, was i surprised!!

Got the air hogs for DS' (24 and 21 yrs old!! :rotfl2: one friend said "I love where we live in an age where its possible to have a remote control car that goes on the ceiling - AWESOME!!)

a "bug" from Toys R Us (no zhu zhu but same concept - think of a computer chip that 'vibrates' - it moves like crazy) crazy funny!

but the gift that was the best for me - DH adopted a dog for me!! :goodvibes It was the hardest thing he had to do - keep it a secret! he kept it at DS house - they helped him pick it out - and care for it - he takes Zues outside, takes him to the vet... plays with him.. what a beautiful thing!

DS got a "boot" a hand blown glass for beer - handmade in Germany - it holds 2L of beer - dh got him the 5L can of German Beer!! VERY fun!!

Love the Corgi!!! My daughter has been on all the Corgi adoption websites since our current one is 9 years old and has arthritis pretty badly -- according to her we need to get another one !!

My mother has been laughing for the last couple days at what ended up being my favorite gift... a new 10" covered non-stick skillet! Yea... who would have thought I would get excited about a skillet!

We got our daughter a chair from Justice.
I got it because we got our son a snowboard and I wanted a big(in size) gift for her that we have with just a big bow like his snowboard.

I swear, she has been sitting in that chair since Christmas, and if she's not, our son is.
She drags it from her room into the living room and sits in front of the TV playing Wii. She brings it back in her room and sits in it while reading. She even asked if she could sleep in it. I said no..
My son is actually sitting in it playing Wii now. He told me he wants to use his Christmas money to buy himself a chair too.
Who knew?

Here it is:

I usually put those Lip Smacker chap stick tubes in eldest DD's stocking. This year I put them in the little ones stockings as well. Um, apparently the best gift ever! Who knew chap stick would make 4yr olds so happy? :confused3

I thought of one!

My parents have an exchange student who was beyond thrilled (speechless, in fact) over the football he received. He had never seen football before coming to America and is totally in love with the sport.

It was absolutely amazing to see the sheer joy on his face. :goodvibes
