Hey i am on color guard too. So wat do u do on color guard i do rifles planning on moving to flags for this year. I just came back from my band trip to Disney that was the best ever. We marched down Main St. in Magic Kingdom wich was the best parade i have ever done in my life. Don't worry. I also do color gaurd but it is my 1st year doing it. We only spin flags that I know of though. The only reason why I tried out though was b/c I hated memorizing music so I tried out n made it. It's really fun though. Unfourtenatly we don't get to go to Disney till my Junior year. I can't wait though. :woohoo:

I do colorgaurd. I don't really like it though. I just joined it so I had an activity to do in the summer.

thats cool this is my second year and i love it even though colorguard takes up all of my time i dont mind it like i use to cause now i understand that its worth the time. . . i don't like to spin flag, i love to spin rifle though. . . i use to hate rifle at first when i first started to spin but then i got better and started to love rifle. . . now im learning sabre and i dont like it but most likely in time i'll like it just like i love rifle.

i hope you learn to like it. . . i didn't like colorguard at first either cause it took so much time out of my life and some of the stuff we learn on flags, rifles, and sabres got to be really difficult and it frustrated me. but colorguard does have its perks i've become more mature becuase of colorguard, i've learned things i never imagined i could learn, i've made life long friends with people in other grades, you get to skip school sometimes for competitions, you also get thrill of performing infront of people and hopefully make them happy because of the show. thats why i love colorguard so much and it doesn't matter what sport you join each has its up and downs the you like or dont like. i hope you do though decide to stay with colorguard for awhile i didn't think i would but the sport grew on me.

*waves* BRENDON! :) I found you. You DO post on the teen boards. haha

anywho, yea. I just graduated high school, and I was on guard all four years of high school. I was co-captain of my school's flag line for 2 years as well.
I was on the same guard as Brendon (the guy who I quoted), and that Disney trip was AMAZING. :)

I know I'm going to miss guard in college... Gettysburg has a guard, but I'm not doing it my frosh year since I would have to leave a full week earlier, and I'm already the first of my friends to leave... but maybe if I miss it enough I'll join my soph year of college.

Not in colorguard, but I am in band. I have always respected the cooridination that goes with being in colorguard. A couple times however during practice people have been hit by a rifle. :rotfl: I was helping out our guard at their last Winterguard competition, and I believe they got 3 out of 20 I believe.

thats cool band people are just as amazing as colorguard people. sorry about you getting hit with a rifle i've been hit by a saxphone player and a tuba player so don't worry the bands not the only one who gets beatin up the colorguard does too.

I was in band for two years. and one of my best friends is the captain of the color guard team. she wanted me to join this year, I think I'll wait till next year though. I'm way not coordinated, and I just didn't have time for it this year. I'll try it next year though.

I've also been hit in the back of a head with a trombone on more than one occasion. and I don't even play brass! I was a clarinet player!

oh no, I was not hit, other people have been. To top that, my freshman year, this senior flutist got her hair in a trombone slide during our suicide block. We were only two steps apart! :lmao:

hahaha. On my guard, I was known as the resident 'flag-hitter' because I always wound up hitting people. XD. Mostly when we were in the gym goofing off, since I can known some super-high flag tosses, but they can get out of control...hehe
And I'm also known for 'Pulling a Laura' which is dropping my flag on the simpliest of moves. XD. Like for instance, I once dropped my flag during a parade on a DROPSPIN. haha.

i'm not on CG but my boyfriend is and i've seen them at my school and they're so good!! i have so much respect for you guys in it..i could never be skilled like that..haha i'd crack up laughing and drop everything.

This is my first year in guard i tried out and i made it. I think it will be a lot of fun we are going to disney in a couple months.

you'll fall in love like i did. this is my second year and it only took a few months for me to fall in love with the sport. when are yall going to disney were going to disney in march.

colorguard is people who spin rifles, flags, sabres and in the fall season which is called marching season they perform along with the band at football games and marching competitions. in the winter season its called winterguard in winterguard its only the guard thats performing and in winterguard we still spin flags, sabres, and rifles but we but more dancing into it. our instructor says were kind of like the cheerleaders and the drill team but a little bit different
