Those who have used it recently -- how did it work for you?

At the end of the trip, did you think it was worth it?

Never did the platinum package and never would. The free things are not in my wheelhouse and the dining plan has too much dessert. However, you need to evaluate the cost and benefits. Me, I use spreadsheets.

Now if I could just stomach the prices. ::yes::

Op are you thinking of doing the platinum package???

We had this on our honeymoon. We did the Chef's table at V&A's, Le Cellier, and other places I can't remember. While all were amazing, I felt a lot of pressure to maximize our choices (it's hard to get a QS burger for a meal where you could also do V&A) since I'm cheap like that. It was actually a bit stressful. If you are a big eater and don't force yourself to only eat a certain way, it's great; but I think you could try all of the best places over many trips for far less $$$

It's on my bucket list -- more for the activities (boats, golf, laNouba, tours) than the food (although I wouldn't turn down the food aspect)!

Thanks for the link, but I was looking for experiences since the MB/FP+ situation has stabilized...

I know only certain hotels can be booked with this, what ones are they? Just deluxe? And you can't book it through DVC, right?

Has anyone done a trip report with this plan? I'd be very interested in reading it.

I can't get the pricing to be worth it regardless of the scenario.
The Queen Victoria's room and the Chef's Table aren't included, but apparently pro-rated from the Main Dining rooms prices. That savings, in addition to a sit down breakfast every morning + viewing areas still doesn't add up in savings.

None of the dining plans are about savings.

It depends on the price and how you normally vacation.
We don't feel obligated to dine differently because of the dining plan.
Without a plan, we would still dine at a signature each evening and order three courses (likely one appetizer and share, but we obviously each get our own entree and we each get our own dessert since our tastes are different.)
Since we prefer dinner around 7:30-8:00PM, we'd also do a table service lunch long before around noon time.

For us, the deluxe dining plan during free dining saves us money.
As a couple upgrading to deluxe during free dining:
$99/night from Regular to Deluxe
$135/night from Quick Service to Deluxe

$155 Average for 3-courses @ a Signature Location. (7:45PM)
$75 Average for 3-courses @ a 1TS lunch location. (12:00PM)
$20 Average daily in snacks in the parks.
$10 equivalent in resort soft-drinks
$260 Daily Average OOP

We eat breakfast cheap and out of pocket.
With a 7.5 hour gap between sit-down meals, the food isn't on-top of one another as some guests claim to be (not sure how unless scheduling tight).
Also, three courses is not some insane amount of food as people tend to cite with the dining plan, but get three plates of food at a buffet. But, let's go with their argument of being "a ton of food" and say out of pocket, we choose to split an appetizer and dessert at lunch and dinner (no way halfing an app/dessert and getting an entree is a 'ton of food'.).

Going lighter by splitting an app/dessert, based off the menu's, we'd save $45, so the that goes down to $215 Daily Average OOP.

With a $99/night or even the $135/night to cover dining, we're saving $80-$115, or $500-$700 for the entire trip. But for us, we'd average $260 a day, so we're saving $600-$750 a week depending if we stay at a deluxe or value.

During "free" dining? Sure, you'll save some money. But the dining plan in and of itself is not designed to save anyone any money. Plus, the plan we're talking about here, the Premium package, is not available, even as an upgrade, during "free" dining.

Oh I agree there.
But during free dining we save $700 or so with an upgrade to deluxe

Yeah, we had the package 13 years ago, and it looks like a lot of what they gave us is no longer there. It's definitely not something I'd do again or consider a "deal."

Sometimes vacations aren't just about saving money. You could save money by eating free bread at the food court 3 meals a day, or just skipping the trip altogether. OP, if you want the package because it makes your vacation better for you, then get it!
