I got invited to an Arbonne party tonight and while I knew it was a line of skin care products I didn't know much else about it. I checked their website today and nearly had a coronary. Holy wah are those prices high.

Now, don't get me wrong, I am more than willing to spend a little more to get a quality product but that seems ridiculous. The only products I'm really interested in are the facial mask, a tinted moisturizer, and perhaps some facial sunscreen.

Does anyone have any experience with these products? Are they worth the money?

ETA: I work outside in the sun so I apply sunscreen at least twice a day all summer long which means I will go through it really fast. This may change your recommendation on the sunscreen.

My cousin uses the baby care line(sun screen included). It's the only thing her DDs don't have a reaction to.

I just don't like their aggressive sales pitch marketed as "there's no pressure to buy". They really want you to become an Arbonne representative. I've been to two parties in the past few months.

That being said, I do like their skin products, but I think you can get comparable products for half the price elsewhere.

I feel sorry for you. I went to one ONCE, never again.

They really pressured people to "buy the package" because you can SAVE 100 dollars. Meanwhile they want you to spend 300 at their party.

My advice, call in sick, lol. It is just something that is not in my price range.

I used to sell in college - i loved the makeup and foundation - i loved the facial line as well. even if you don't buy, they usually do makeovers and do a sugar scrub on yrou hands

I used to use a moisturizer they had/have but it was really expensive. I got the "associate" price from a friend but once she stopped I didn't want to spend the $30something dollars on a bottle of lotion. I had the same coronary when the rep first introduced their $400 skin care routine :scared1:

I have never used the products but the cost is on par with cosmetics that are sold in Department Stores

A few years ago, I used some type of wash from their line, and it just about burned my skin off! A friend tried it and had a similar reaction, so I know it wasn't just my skin having a bad reaction to it. :confused3

I absolutely love a lot of their products. One of my daughters has really sensitive skin and their baby line was the only sunscreen she could use. That being said after a few years my daughters skin can now handle other stuff so I no longer bye it. I just can't justify the cost.

a friend of my DD's sells Arbonne and asked us to use a sample pack of the RE9 line, then take a survey, so we agreed to help her out. I really liked the line, I definitely noticed a difference in my skin after only a few days, but theres no way I can justify spending that much on the stuff

Well, it was interesting to say the least.

I agree with someone up thread that mentioned the hard sell tactics. Maybe it was just this particular rep at this party but she was making some pretty out there claims and didn't seem like she really knew what she was talking about.

Let me preface this by saying I am not all for 100% natural. I firmly believe that just because it is a natural product it doesn't automatically mean it's good for you just like if it is made in a lab it doesn't automatically mean it's bad for you. Do I think we are exposed to more harmful chemicals and things today than is good for us? Absolutely. If given the option I will often go with more natural stuff. However, it's not the be all end all for me.

At one point the rep had us try some of the resurfacing pads on our faces. She said we would be amazed at how much dead skin and gunk they got off our faces. It immediately started to burn and I asked her if it was supposed to do that. She got a confused look on her face and said it will tingle a bit but it's natural so it won't burn. Yeah hydrochloric acid is all natural but that would burn my face if I put it on there too. Also, it looked like it got absolutely nothing off my face. Thank you Mary Kay miracle set for roughly 1/4 of the price.

She also went on and on and on about how bad mineral oil is for your skin because they make it out of road kill and it's just disgusting.

All in all, I did order a few products to try. My major concern with my skin is the amount of time I spend in the sun during the summer so I ordered a bottle of sun screen to try and some of the after sun lotion. We will see how it goes. If it works well and lasts long enough I don't have a problem with the prices but, that said, I am perfectly happy with my Mary Kay Timewise skin care stuff and am not planning to switch. Arbonne's skin care line costs like $400 for the whole set. The rep says oh but it lasts 6-9 months. Yeah, my Mary Kay set lasts about that long too and cost me $95. I'm not looking to switch that.

I generally don't buy any products where the emphasis is on the multi-level marketing and not the products.

Also: friends don't invite friends to MLM parties. :)

Edit: And I personally like Paula's Choice skincare line. Not affiliated.

If you work outside in the sun, you should be using a formula containing zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. Those are both physical blocks that provide far more protection than any chemical blocks. It really doesn't matter what brand you use, just find one with those ingredients.

I'm going to try some of that this summer too.

I have very pale sensitive skin and burn and look like a lobster just thinking about going outside. I found a sunscreen by Derma E that works great for me. They have an oil free one for your face and then a body one.

One caution when you first put it on your face it takes a minute or so to work it in and you will look like casper the ghost. I was scared the first time I used it but figured out to rub it in a little more and was good to go.

You can buy it online, at Ulta and most drug stores.
