We live in a house that's about 45 years old and our furnace is original, but in great working condition. Last end of June, we had our whole basement spray painted, ceiling and all. It was easier to use a sprayer than a paint brush. They closed the vent down there and turned the A/C off.
Then this past October, when we turned our heat on, we noticed a paint like smell if you would stand right in front of a vent for about 3-5 seconds. We have had 2 very good heating companies come out 3 times and they all say our furnace is working great and there are no problems.
Is it possible that some how paint got into the furnace or a vent and is making it smell bad? If so, is that dangerous for us to breathe that in all day and night? It didn't smell bad all Summer with our A/C, just our heat. That doesn't make any sense?
Maybe it's not the paint?
TIA!
