Any DVCer's from Oregon???

We have just moved to the Portland area this fall, and were wondering if you felt it was still a good investment living so far away from Florida? Can we still get our money's worth?? What have you seen your airfares going for etc.??? Just wondering!

Welcome to Portland! I hope you like it here as much as we do. The only thing we don't like about it is that long airplane trip to Orlando.We feel that anything up to $350 is a good deal for the round trip. We always have flown Delta and they have a red-eye flight that gets us there at about 8:00 am. We go once a year but always stay at least 2 weeks.

We've had good luck with credit cards that accrue free frequent flyer miles. We pay off each month in full so there are no fees, but since we charge quite a bit the miles add up. I know American Express, Citibank and Capitol One all offer these kinds of programs. This trip we managed four free tickets! I use these cards for my business purchases too. Amex gives you free miles for just signing up, the first year is free, and when you cancel at the end of the year they invite you back all over again about 6 months later.

Thanks for the idea about the credit cards- my DH has one that accumulates mileage for Northwest, uses it for business too) - as we lived in the Midwest and it flew out of there often- Detroit, where we're from was their hub! So, we'll probably end up looking for another- we were thinking about the Disney card coming out in March- its suppoesed to offer some kind of kick back- thought we'd use that for AP's etc., but we'll just have to see what thye're offering!

Greetings from Beaverton. We bought 2 years ago after much research and think it's a good deal for us. We will only go every two years mainly because there are so many other vacation options here (Victoria, Alaska cruise, Yellowstone etc). I agree that $350 is about as good as it's been lately although it used to be around $200-250. We use airline miles so I do not follow it as closely as I used to. Welcome to the Pacific Northwest!!
