Any DVCer's doing marathon?

Hello,
Any of you doing the marathon or half marathon in January? DH and I are doing the half for the 2nd time. It's less than 2 months away and we're getting so excited. This will also be our first time home at WLV since we bought in January! Can't wait!

The only marathon this DVC'er is doing in January is driving quickly from MCO at 10am to Cape Canaveral for a 7 day Magic Cruise

That's enough exercise for me.

Hi! We'll be there too. My husband and his father are running the marathon and his mother and I are doing the 5K Family Fun Run. We will be staying a VWL too. We leave 7 weeks from today! Can't wait!

DH and I are BRAND NEW DVC'rs (sent in the paperwork today---hope to close by mid-december).

I am running the Disney 1/2 marathon and DH will be cheering (at the finish--I certianly dont expect him to get out of bed at 4am to see me at the start!!LOL!)

I am very excited as I have only been running for about a year now. I have done several 5k's this past summer and a "trial run" of a 1/2 marathon in September (which I surprisingly finished standing up in less than my goal of 3 hours...). I am trying desperately to stay off the injured list so I can earn that finishers medal and have a goal time of 2.5 hours...!!

My race number is 18087 and I plan on wearing SOMETHING lime green!! see you at the finish line!!

Tigger2esq, welcome to DVC. I had only been running for about 6 months before I did it last year. It was a blast. You and Tiggerfreak are going to love it. At the start there is so much excitement and energy. Then the rest goes by so quickly, your in MK (mile 10) before you know it. Don't forget to carry disposible cameras. CM's will take your pic with the characters. I just can't wait.

GCM13, I bet we'll meet your DH and FIL at the bus stop early that morning. Have fun at the 5K!

DH and I just returned from long weekend at BWV. We tried to get info on marathon course,etc. We know that it is closed for this year but do you have any course info?

DH thinks running his first marathon through the World would be tops! Do they do the 5k every year? ( I can't seem to get motivated for a long run!!)

Buttercup, thanks for the great tip on the disposable camera. I'll have to make sure we get one.

Hoppy, I think 5k is run every year. If you have kids, they also have races for them. My kids will be participating in the 200 yd and 100 yd races.

I hope to do the full marathon next year. I agree with your DH that WDW would be a great place for a first marathon!

I'll be at OKW during the marathon, but running? Not a pretty sight.

I ran the Full last year it was fun. This year I am doing the half. Last year it was 32 degrees at the start. Remember you will be standing around for an hour before so bring some throwaway clothing.

DH is running the marathon with a friend. I am running the half, maybe with friend's DH, but injuries threaten to keep him in the cheering section. This will be my third road race - the first, a 5k two weekends ago, the next a 10M in December. If I make it through a 10M, I'll be ready for the half marathon, I think. Just going for the finisher's medal. Looking forward to it. Happy training!
