I was wondering if there are any DVC members heading down for Mardi Gras. This will be our 4th Mardi Gras trip. We love Disney this time of year.

I did't know that Disney did anything for Marti Gras? What do they have?

We're heading down the day after Mardi Gras. Does that count? My kids can't stand to miss the parades at home. You can never have enough Mardi Gras beads in your attic.

This will be my third DVC Mardi Gras trip. Looking forward to this trip and making it a tradition. So long as it doesn't overlap Presidents Day.

We evacuate the city for hurricanes and Mardi Gras. This will be our 5th Mardi Gras in a row, but 1st as DVC.

Someone posted they didn't know Disney did anything special for Mardi Gras. I think there's a parade at DD, but we've never been. We get enough of that here before the trip. It's amazing how many people from around New Orleans are there. Just look for the purple, green and gold shirts on Fat Tuesday!

Next year should be real nice. Mardi Gras is Feb. 8th. I also like Mardi Gras when it is in March, because that coincides with Braves Spring Training. Mardi Gras at Disney has become a great family tradition.

We are not going this year, but I'm considering it for future trips. We went in Dec. and DD7 missed a week of school. It worked out okay, except they only excused 3 of the 5 days. Her teacher did not penalize her though, so it didn't hurt her grades. But since we usually get 2 days off that week anyway, we will probably consider going that week in the future. I hate being tied to a school schedule and I really hate big crowds and heat:eek: , so Mardi Gras may be a good time to consider. How are the lines and crowds during this time a year? We were so spoiled with the 1st week of December, we practically walked on everything. We are going back May 23-28, to use up some of the plusses left on our passes. It will mostly be a resort and water park trip.

Will be trip #6 in a row (squeezing another one in). Tooneric, I'll be the one with Beads around the neck and that famous Purple, Green and Gold shirt.

Disney on the Bayou, did one trip I think it was in 1999 (Presidents Day + Mardi Gras), never again the crowds were worse than Canal Street on Fat Tuesday.:jester:

Yesdisneyfool, I'll look for anyone with beads and ask them if they're the fool. That should make me a lot of friends!!! Actually we have beads that light up and blink at night so look for us. They're purple green and gold if you see us during the day, but flash sort of red at night... We've used them 3 years in a row. That reminds me... I'd better check the batteries in them!

Anyone heard any rumors of eride nights? The last few years Mardi Gras night has been eride, but so far all I see is that no erides have been planned for January or February...

Tooneric, I haven't seen anything either, but when I check in, it will be one of the things I ask for. :jester:

Keeping fingers crossed. I guess that since Mardi Gras is at the end of Feburary, we should begin to see something just after Valentines Day.
