And if so, have you tried operating portable from OKW??
Mainly thinking about Vhf/Uhf, but curious to try HF from that part of the country...

Thanks

You know.... I bet most of the posters here have no idea what you're talking about. :D

I do! I was raised in a family of hams although I'm not one myself. Good luck!

...over?

Friends of ours lived in Germany for a time, years ago, and we regularly "hammed" with them...

Have fun, ILPHIL!!!

Rich cooks pigs feet at OKW.

My wife and I order a ham dinner everytime we stop in Virginia on our way down to DVC. The ham is great!!;) ;) ;)

Funny thing is when you asked for DVC hams, I was going to mention Richyams name.

But then I read you were talking about the radio kind.

My dad was a Ham operator from the time he was a kid until he died at 78 (although he sort of fell out of active use he had just gotten a handheld). Can't help you too much since he never did get to use it at OKW but I know he had used his scanner down there and picked up quite a bit. Airport security loved the scanner, the cell phone and the 2-way family radios! These days he probably would have been pulled out for further questioning!

Pam, my brothers and I are 3rd generation "hams" and surprisingly haven't had any problems at airports since 9/11.
I carry-on a large camera bag loaded with cameras, GPS, radios, misc wires and cords. It looks suspicious to ME even, but all I do is mention I'm a ham and offer to emply it out on the counter for them. Then they just shake their heads and wave me through.::yes::
Well...hopefully there is a fellow DVCer & ham out there somewhere...
