I was thinking about maybe going to NC for a daytrip to the zoo. Anyone know if there are any discounts anywhere? I checked online and the tickets are $10/$6. Thanks for the help...

Discounts to the zoo are rare. If you are a member of either the zoo in Roanoke or Norfolk, then you may be entitled to a discount here. Our credit union sometimes sells tickets at a discount.

Your youngest will get in free. There may also be a student discount, but it wouldn't be much off. You may want to consider an annual membership--for your family it would be $59 which gets you in for a year. In addition, you get free or reduced entrance to a number of zoos and aquariums, like the NC aquariums. As a member, you are entitled to discounts in some of the gift shops, and maybe food venues (we're local so we don't eat at the zoo much).

Have a good trip--it is a really nice zoo.

The last time we went to the Aquarium they did have a membership that was something like 65.00 for up to six people that would give you discounts/free entrance to other aquariums and zoo's. I didn't have time the day we were there to really ask questions but I have been thinking about doing this for a while. Like another said, we are local to the aquarium so I think we would definitely get our money's worth just doing that. We live on the coast so the zoo is something we do very rarely, most of the time we go to the DC zoo when we are back home visiting family and that one is free.

I would check and see if that is something that is doable and usable for your family. The membership may pay for itself with one trip to the zoo and the aquarium. Depending on where you live the aquarium in Wilmington and the one here in Pine Knoll shores, along with a day at the Beach might be a nice 'mini' vacation and cheap if you do it during the right time of year! We live about 10 minutes from the ocean but during the month of Oct we always rent a beach house for a long weekend. Great time of year, still warm in the day, no swimming for us really, and the rental prices are 1/3rd of what they are in the summer. We paid 104.00 for 3 days last October in a nice little house.

Definitely check into the membership!

We just went in April. Seems like there was a AAA discount, but it wasn't valid on the combo ticket (that gives you the 3-D movie and the carousel ride).

Wear good walking shoes! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the replies..Ill check into these ideas
