Any Data on when Cruises Turn SWDAS?

We had a great time on the WBPC and booked a placeholder. We don't necessarily want to go back on the Wonder again so soon, and the Dream is going to be way too short for us. My husband hasn't been on the Fantasy. I wouldn't mind going back on it but we are both obsessed with Star Wars and I would love that as a "something different" on our next cruise.

Except all the dates for 2019 are in the absolute dead of winter. :/ Yes the Caribbean is warmer than the States in February but it's still going to be too cold to get in the water!

I know it's used as a ploy to get cruises to fill up and I'm wondering how long we can wait to see if any cruises flip over to SWDAS as it is. Any statistically-minded Disers have some info on when that tends to happen?

Worst case the Magic could be an option but... Star Wars!

Historically, the Star Wars cruises are in the beginning of the year. That's when they are. I doubt that DCL would randomly make a cruise Star Wars themed at any other time.

Star Wars and Marvel days are offered for a reason. To entice people to travel in the off season. It's more logical than it rhymes.

As they say, half of the cruise industry profits are made in the summer season. There just isn't enough supply once the schools are out and the sun is shining. That said, the Caribbeans market is getting super-saturated, so never say never.

The Caribbean is absolutely warm/hot enough to go swimming in the winter months!!! Have done it several times....on the island and on the ship!!

The Bahamas may be too cool at times to swim onboard or at CC or Nassau, but the Caribbean itself (Eastern, Western, and Southern) are all hot all year long

We've done cruises in February the past two years and had no issue swimming and doing water activities in the Caribbean.

SWDAS was fun and we enjoyed it!

We just did a SWDAS cruise in March and it was warm enough to swim in the water at Grand Cayman, but definitely chilly at Castaway Cay. The cruise was a blast, though!!

The Caribbean can be warm all year, with just some cold spells when a cold front moves through. I went on a cruise over Christmas and it was very warm and we spent the whole cruise in the water. I'm from Florida so I get cold really easily too

We were on a SWDAS cruise in March and it was warm enough to swim everywhere. The kids were in the pool for hours at a time on board, and for hours in Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Castaway Cay.
They go from January to April, there's only a few years of data of course, but I can't imagine they'll change it up much.

Good to know! I thought it was a thing where low-selling cruises tended to change over. I didn't realize it was more of a set thing at the beginning of the year, which coincidentally are also probably low-selling cruises (or were, at any rate). Thanks!

I think the first batch or two of SWDAS cruises were add ons for cruises that weren’t selling well (and they were all at the beginning of the year), but now they seem to be released as SWDAS cruises right from the get go.

January to April are the months they offer SWDAS on the Fantasy. And it is typically the first 2 weeks of April and then they switch to Non SWDAS cruises.

To chime in on when cruises turn into SWDAS: We booked an Eastern on the Fantasy for 01/12/19 opening day (11/01/17), then got an email on 1/24/18 stating it was to be a SWDAS cruise. I'm pretty sure the pricing is better before the announcement.

If you look at the SWDAS cruises for 2019, there's only one for the entire month of March and none in April. Don't know why they aren't having more in March or why there's none in April for next year. We went on one Jan 2017 and have another booked for Jan. 2019. We don't really care about the cruises being SWDAS, we go then because we like to cruise during that time of year. We always book on opening day. So far our cruise for 2019 has gone up a little over $800 for 2 adults and one child.
