We will be leaving for Disney soon & I'm curious if anyone has seen any critter sightings.

Has anyone seen:

Ducks
Rabbits
Squirrels
Cats
Geese
Snakes of any kind
Crocs/Alligators
Armadillos
Deer
Basically anything animal like.

I am hoping to see most of these things except for the snakes.

We are just back from staying at Saratoga Springs and in the resort saw the following :-

Ducks
lots of other birds
Lizards - lots
rabbits
squirells
fish
turtles

Also saw deer when on the monorail - they were not far from the polynesian resort
Thankfully never saw any snakes!!!!

We're at CSR now, but haven't seen the alligator that's in the lake. There are lots of fish and turtles. The squirrels are active gathering up the acorns and of course there are lots of little lizards. While standing in line at the Haunted Mansion Friday, there was a black snake slithering among the headstones. Someone said it was a black racer.

Last year we stayed at POR and one day we were on the bus leaving the resort when DD and I both saw turkeys standing near the road among some bushes and trees there. At first I didn't think they were real, but then one moved. We looked for them every time we went past again but never saw them anymore.

Stayed at the Poly last week and one afternoon after a hard rain I looked over our balcony and saw what I thought was a dog eating grass. Turned out it was a giant rabbit! It was so huge I couldn't believe it.

We were at the Polynesian Oct 3-12th and we saw ducks, lizards, deer, squirrels, bunnies, something that I thought was an osprey (a big duck, nasty thing) and a hawk perched on a balcony.

We returned from our stay at POFQ 10-11-09 and saw:::

Ducks...lots all over the place
Rabbits...a few, 1 tried to run me down
Squirrels..many and friendly too
Cats...nope
Geese..yep, ate out of my hand
Snakes of any kind...Nope, but talked to a lady at our resort who saw a 4ft black one on the path off the river.
Crocs/Alligators: none this year
Armadillos: nope
Deer: lots, especially around dusk
Turkeys....quite a few in the fields off the highways
Lizards....a gazillion of them
tree frogs....everyday
a huge variety of all kinds of birds.

The deer are almost always near the poly and the WL around dusk. So watch out if you are driving.

We always see lots of ducks, frogs and lizards.

When we stayed at POP in 2004 we saw a group of big white birds outside our room. I think they were cranes. They were there a couple of mornings. It was neat to see them.

Stayed a POFQ and had to call the front desk to get the salamanders out of my room...twice...LOL

Have seen them all at 1 time or another. Last trip saw
Ducks
Rabbits
Squirrels
Snakes (2)
Alligator...small one about 4 foot
Deer
Basically anything animal like. (many humans) :lmao:

Yeap, we were at SSR in August and pretty much saw all of the above PLUS on the 2nd night as we were walking along the walkway to our building and a possum shot out from the bushes right in front of us and ran across the walkway, LOL! It startled us, but was kinda funny although my dd didn't find it funny so every night after, she'd grab onto my arm as we walked along the same walkway LOL!!

I love seeing all of the critters there (except snakes) which luckily we only saw a snakeskin on the walkway to DTD one night.

We stay at SSR a lot and are used to seeing the swans, there are 4 of them but we didn't see them that trip. Hopefully they're still there. We'll see next week.;) We also regularly see FL water birds like, herons, cranes, egrets and ibis. They're all very cool looking birds and usually hang out along any of the waterways. grassy areas or sometimes on top of car roofs LOL!!!

When we stayed at BCV in April, there were many turtles and schools of fish swimming in the waters there by the pool area (the BCV pool). It was very cool, we took lots of video. There are also lots of ducks that like to swim in the SOB pool. Many have babies with them which is very cute but many of the kids will splash them and swim after them.

We've also seen deer from the bus on the way to MK from SSR. They're usually toward the side of the road at dusk. It's been a while since we've seen them though.

The wildlife is a perk at WDW, I'll not just pass on the snakes and also the palmetto bugs, LOL! (of course it is FL so there's a good chance you'll see those too):thumbsup2

Did they come and get them out?? If so, how did they catch them?

We get them in our house a lot (I don't like them in my house LOL!-but we have SO many outside they're bound to get in). If dh isn't around to catch them usually the cats take care of them but that's definitely torture for those little critters.:goodvibes

We once saw an armadillo on our walk to the main bus stop at POR.

Another time, in the same spot, a big rat ran across the path. My husband said, "That's not Mickey. His ears aren't big enough!!"

Just back from WL last sat, saw lots of ducks (shared breakfast with them most mornings!!), lots of rabbits, frogs, 1 armadillo (late at night), and 3 deer sitting by the road at the entrance!!!

The only thing I can't remember seeing on WDW property is a cat...unless you are talking about a bobcat. I've seen plenty of those.

Not always the same trip, but we've seen:
Ducks (Some Mallards but others as well), Rabbits, Squirrels, Geese
Alligators, Armadillos, Deer

No: Cats(not at WDW), Snakes of any kind, Crocs (except the rubber kind that go on peoples' feet. LOTS of those! :rotfl:)

We've been a number of times, and although I don't spend a ton of time scouting, I do try to keep my eyes open.

One trip we saw aton of armadillos, but haven't seen any for sveral trips - and I've been looking. I think maybe DIsney did somethig to control them.
I've only seen a gator once. It was a little one, though we saw it more than once. I think we saw it twice in the same area. I fairly certain it was the same one. I've seen other gators off property, too.

I'm not going to count the offsite wildlife places I've been, or the intentional animals in AK...but you may well see lots of birds, on the coast are pelicans, all over are black vultures. I'm trying to remember when and where, but I'm pretty sure we smelled skunk one night..It may have been offsite in Orlando. Of course the many lizards, and frogs.

Just off I-Drive (near Universal), and just north of Orlando are cows and horses. Florida is actually a big cow state! To the southeast of WDW are large orange groves.

We've seen lots or rabbits and ducks.

We've seen snakes 3 times in 13 trips - one time on the bridge at Tom Sawyer's Island, one time in the boneyard at AK, and one time on the boardway near the quiet pool at BC.

Hope we don't see anymore - DH and I are terrified of snakes!

Ducks and bunnies at the Poly, a couple of frogs and little lizards and quite a few of those egret things.

For those that want to see armadillos, you need to go out at dusk. That is when they come out to hunt for bugs. A really good place to see them is in the grassy area across the road from Port Orleans Riverside. I always see a ton of them there.

For those that want to see cats, that's a bit harder. Bobcats are around WDW, but you will only see them at night and only if you are lucky. I normally see them in one of the less populated areas. I catch their eyes glowing in my headlights. There are several that live over by the WDW Entertainment building that houses the WDW Florist.

The best places to see deer are along the road that leads to Ft. Wilderness and near the Grand Floridian and Shades of Green resorts.

The birds are everywhere. There are a lot more gators than people think, but they are not easy to spot from the road.

Good luck with your wildlife search! I love the Florida critters!
