Any cool "inside" tips to know??

 We have the late seating too. With an eleven year old I just don't think she can hold out. Is the all hannds on deck cheese platter from room service free? We're on a tight budget to squeeze this trip in so I check this site almost every day for tips. Thanks so much for all the great advice. We bought the stuff for dd to make her door sign today. She's extremely excited.:rotfl: :rotfl:

I too am not very excited about autographs, but I didn't want to regret not getting them later, so I took two canvas tote bags to guest services on our July 4th 2004 trip to be signed. They did it with no problem. The thing I like the most was that each characters autograph really showed their personality and was unique.

Only the cost of tipping the CM who delivers it to your stateroom. One of the gret tips someone here posted was to take along some $2 bills for tips.

Where to you guys find $2 bills? I snagged the last one I saw for my currency collection and I bet that was 15 years ago. Banks here say they can't even get them from the Federal Reserve.
I always take lots of $1s for tips on trips.

There are Panini sandwiches served at the Outlook bar (deck 10) from 11-2 (lunchtime) on sea days. You have to ask for them, as they're in the kitchen behind the bar. They had a DELICIOUS ham and cheese! For those who don't know what paninis are, (I didn't till I saw it on these boards!) they're a sandwich similar to grilled cheese but made w/a sandwich maker or George Foreman type-grill. These consisted of whole-grain bread. My DH didn't like them (he likes white bread only,) but I LOVED them, and couldn't wait until the next 'at-sea' day. (Yes, I ate lunch at Topsider's too; is it any wonder I gained 5 lbs? ).

There is no charge for these sandwiches. (FYI, the only things that are 'extra charge' are the packaged foods outside of the Disney theatre, and milkshakes. And of course, alchohol.)

Didnt realise til after our last cruise that you can have a cappuccinno coffee in any restaurant after a meal! Will remember next year! Nat:Pinkbounc

Also wanted to know if there is an extra carge for this after dinner in the dinning room???

Ginabug...like Mickeyhugger stated theres not much thats not included in your cruise....just about everything except things like some beverages...like smoothies, milk shakes, soda in the bars, special coffee drinks, beer and other mixed drinks...other items are photos from shutters and packaged snacks outside the movie place. I'm sure there are others....but it's all I can come up with at this time.

I was told that you can have a cappuccinno after your meal instead of regular coffee: Ive never seen it mentioned on the menu, but apparantly it is available. Dont think you would have to pay, but I know we did in Cove Cafe. Will ask DD next time she rings. Nat:Pinkbounc

Don't forget there will be pizza, chicken fingers, etc. on Deck 9 to grab to hold her over as well.

We asked at our bank and they did have enough for what we asked. I guess it a hit or miss depending on the local branches.

Surely a photo with the character is far better than a scribble made by people wearing HUGE gloves. Our children never did the signing thing at MK etc., as it was such a waste of valueable fun time. Photos are wonderful reminders of a "magical" holiday - which can be displayed for years to come. Not many children will "remember the magic" by looking at a signature.Ive witnessed countless arguements between parents -fighting for a place to get a character's autograph for a very young child who wont even remember being there! As you say: it will be a tired CM signing the pillowcases. Just take your cameras. Nat:Pinkbounc

Better yet, feeding off of natdencro's idea of photos, when you get home you can print out those pictures (if they are digital of course) onto iron on transfers, then iron them onto a pillow case! That was a little light bulb I just had. I can imagine that becoming a REALLY cute scrapbook that you kids can look at every night before they lay on it and dream about their Disney cruise! A little bit of work? Yes... but I can imagine it becoming a great keepsake! Plus then you are not just limited with characters, you cen put pictures of the ship, your child with their favorite cms, etc.

And with light bulb ideas like that, you can all see why Yoda will be a wonderful and thoughtful CM. The kids will absolutely love you, Yoda. Look at that countdown clock go!:thewave:

Ok, this thread has great suggestions and is a great idea...my tips.....

Check out the Rainforest Spa- it's not too expensive and is a wonderful experience even if you only do it one day.

Bingo (I'm obsessed but it can get expensive)

Develop a relationship with a server at the Quiet Cove, they will make your trip extra special.

Walk on the deck late at night. It is so beautiful then.

Wine tasting is pretty cool. Sign up early.

Adult entertainment - cabaret acts and theme nights can be really fun. YOU HAVE TO PARTICIPATE. I have laughed my head off on my nights in Rockin' Bar D. Last summer, I was picked for the Gloria Gaynor lip syncing contest. I was shaking with fear. It was so funny. I didn't win but I'm glad I did it.

DCL excursions are well run and usually a great experience.

Get on the ship early. It gives you and extra "sea day". It can get hectic with the drill and unpacking, if you get there early, you can make reservations and use the pool w/o alot of people around.

Hope these suggestions help! Have a blast!

Yoda, please let us know how you like your new job. I'm so jealous!

:worship: I'm singing you,re praises for all the great tips and taking notes.By the way, I ordered the make your own disney shirts off the web site and they arrived today. I love them, even hubby was impressed. Has any one tried the sureal exp. in the spa? I saw some photos on some ones web site but it didn't look that sanitary. Just curious.

We had late dinner seating, so every day I ordered the All Hands on Deck (cheese, crackers and grapes platter) around 3 p.m. It's wonderful.

(You can ask for Mickey Ice Cream Bars from Room Service too - even tho they aren't on the menu - this works well when you order a bucket of ice. They put the bars on top of the bucket over the ice to keep them cold)

Pam

I had those cheese/crackers/grapes snacks at Sessions when I went there for pre-dinner drinks.

And the people I cruised with regularly ordered Mickey bars for dessert in the restaurants. It was cute to see them presented so beautifully on a platter!

sorry, I don't know how to include a quote, but about the two dollar bills... I work in a bank, and I can order them from Fed. but the minimum order is $2000.00. Most banks don't want to keep that excess in their vaults to order for one customer who only wants $100 or so, but I have done it, and my branch currently has about $400. left over. Shop around to different banks, You may be able to pick up a few here and there. I suggest telling them that it's for a special gift or something, they will take more pity on you, and may save them aside as they come in... :D

I've seen a lot of people mention this, but it's not on the menu (that I've seen). Is it a free of charge item? Is it just something those in the know know? :)
