Any CMs "confirming" the FD rumor?

If the free dining rumors are true, I'd expect CMs to start hearing about it today. At least hearing to expect a flood of phone calls tomorrow.

So if anyone has called reservations today, wondering if any CMs have said anything confirming or denying the rumors.

Some CM's don't hear about promotions until the morning they come out, and some CM's find out about them through the disboard users who call to have them applied to their reservation (I'm not kidding!).
A CM's knowledge of promotions has nothing to do with the accuracy of a rumor

I find it hard to believe that the CM's are not notified until the morning of. Considering how crazy it will be. I think they are just not allowed to say anything. Someone posted awhile back about being offered overtime the first week in August so that is a heads up right there. But if indeed the CM's have no idea until the morning of GOD BLESS!

I would speculate that CMs aren't totally completely in the dark the day before.
There may not be a department memo with all the details, but I suspect they increase staffing to deal with increased call volume. Their systems start to get updated with the new codes, etc. There may even be some training.

If it was like the call center I worked at a few years ago (not booking vacations, but plumbing ) we had meetings every Monday where they went over all the promotions running that week and other things that might complicate/increase call volume.

Exactly. It would be sheer havoc if CMs were kept clueless until 30 seconds before a major promotion.

Granted, they may be briefed at 6 am tomorrow. But in that case, they might already know that they have a briefing scheduled for tomorrow.

It depends on who they are. I had a manager basically confirm the last free dining discount. She was working the phones that day and we started talking Disney "stuff" and it turned out she reads a website that I write for (actually, it turned out she really hated something I wrote, but that's another story) and while she didn't give me exact details, she gave me rough dates and when. But that is the absolute closest I've ever got and even that was pretty vague.

Most CMs will tell you that they don't know until the morning it comes out. Considering that you can often call and get a CM who doesn't know right up until around noon the day they're released, I'm betting that's true.

This by no means any type of confirmation, however, I was speaking with a CM yesterday (modifying a reservation) and she casually mentioned that "if any special offer codes are announced in the near future you can call back and we will apply it to your reservation."

In my personal experience, no CM has ever made a comment like that to me - I've always had to ask.

She said I see you were planning on mid October, she told me I had nothing on my account or hubby's at this time, but to keep my eyes and ears peeled, you just never know what may happen. I am thinking YA, too bad my dates are supposedly blacked out ! Anyways, ya that's what I was told a few minutes ago.

Same here, Susan!!! I just called about two hours ago and spoke to Gino (Geno?) and he told me that there are no PINs for my household, but to keep watch for something that might come up. When I mentioned that my dates were "potentially blacked out" he laughed and told me to keep watch.

UGH!!! I hate this wishy-washy feeling I have. I am VERY happy staying off-site, but I know hubby really wanted to be at POR. The only way I'm staying there is if we get free dining though (that or, like 35% off the room, which I know is not going to happen! lol).

We are going "mid October", too and I pretty much knew that we would be blacked out even before the rumor started. This newest bit of info from the CMs you talked to has me very intrigued. Tomorrow will be an exciting day for many if the rumor holds true. I guess I won't give up ALL hope just yet.

As long as your check in date falls in the FD dates, you get it for up to 14 days including black out days

Yes that is correct- you would get the free dining.

My dates are supposed to be blacked out according to the rumors, as we arrive during Pop Warner Week. Bummer! Can't change my dates. Fortunately, I did have a 35% discount pin. Unfortunately, I had to upgrade to river view room to get the discount, which was about $100 more. It would cost me about $210 more to get the Free Dining deal with a standard room if they were available, which would be worth it if I could get it since we are doing some table service dining this time. Oh well, I'll just have fun reading about other people who are so happy to get the special (if it turns out to be true!) Good luck everyone!

No 2012 dates are listed... so we can guess that it's through 12/17.
