Any Canadians do the Disney Marathon?

So, I've decided to do a marathon before my 40th birthday. A friend's dh did the Disney Marathon this past Jan and I thought it would make the ideal goal for me. If you did it, what did you think of it, and do you have any recommendations? Anyone do their first marathon at Disney? I am looking at, not the next one, but probably 2011. I still have a lot of training to do before I can run a full marathon (I can do a 10K at about a 10-min mile but, if I did a marathon, it would be important to me not to walk and I'd be aiming for a time of 4-5 hours).

Hey there, have done the Disney 1/2 marathon twice as well as quite a few of the other disney races and they are the best. Lots of people but they are alot of fun. Then there is the added bonus of a trip to disney

Not sure if brave or nuts.

I do a few other races through the year but nothing major. Have done Toronto Waterfront twice but don't think I will do it this year, want to concentrate on Goofy.

Come over to the WISH section of this forum under the Just for Fun I think it is there is a big group of people there and we all love to chat

The Disney marathon weekend is a blast! If you decide to go, you will have an amazing time!

Here's one thing to keep in mind - the race is in January and we live in Ontario. So be prepared to do some running in cold weather, snow/ice and in the dark. The shorter daylight hours was something that I was not really prepared for. I have a treadmill and did some of my shorter runs on it but it's really not the same as going outside.

I would also recommend doing a couple more 10Ks and a 1/2 marathon before attempting a full. You can use the races to get yourself into a better corral and the races will give your body a chance to adapt to longer distances.

I know and as usual I have not trained. Going to be power training over the next few weeks.

Mike and Kevin are doing the Mississauga 1/2 this weekend. Can't wait to cheer them on.

Anytime you are free works for us.

Dave and Erica will get in late on Thursday night and Liz and Patrick late Friday night but you are more then welcome whenever. Just going to be alot of good times with good friends cause we won't see anyone again till Marathon weekend.

I am signed up to do the Goofy too. I am soooo looking forward to it.

I did my first 1/2 there in 2006 and my first full there in 2008. You just can't compare any other races to Disney ones. The crowds are great. Make sure you wear a Canadian shirt. You get lots of chears!
The medals are amazing. I am actually signed up for the Disneyland 1/2 in August. I first trip ever there. So many races so little time!!
I so think your first race should be at Disney.
