I'm watching and waiting for my timer to go below 200 days -- IT'S NOT GOING FAST ENOUGH!!! Especially in this bleepin' winter weather and short days/long nights!

Just wondering who else is feeling my pain?

We stumbled upon August last year b/c it was the only time in the year we could wedge in 2 weeks in between baseball (my son is in a spring league and a summer all-star league), school, and such. We actually liked it -- yeah, it's HOT, but there's lots of water in the pools and water parks! And at mid-august, a lot of schools down south start, so crowds weren't too bad.

Anyone?

Anyone?

Bueller? ;)

We will be in a 2 bedroom at OKW from August 28th throught Sept. 4th.

I am thrilled to hear you like that time of year because we were a little hesitant. Figured heat and crowds would be too bad. Sound like crowds might not be too bad!::MickeyMo

We went last two weeks of August in 2002 and 2003 and had great trips. We were not DVC members yet, though. First year we stayed at CB and second year at BC. It was our first time at BC and loved it. Yes, it is really humid at times, but as you said there is plenty of cool water to be had. Ha! The crowds are not too bad at that time because as you said school is back in session for many kids. This year we are going to CA instead at that same time and staying at the GC for the first time. Can't wait!!

gopherit: I know what you mean about the long wait until August. Especially with the snow and cold we are experiencing in NY right now, August could not be here quick enough. LOL.

Hope everyone has a great trip!!:D

You too, gopherit? I thought it was just me waiting to hit the below 200 day mark! Aug. 3, 2004 can't get here fast enough as far as I am concerned.
It will be the first time staying at a DVC, OKW; and my sister and I are very excited about this trip.:hyper:
The rest of our 6 member family group is another story.
So along with you we are counting the days.::yes::
Glad to know there are others who "brave" the southern heat.;) It gives me something to look forward to during one of our Montana winter storms. I just think "Disney":sunny:

Our plans (that I am so eagerly waiting to count down for!) include one nt at BCV in a 2br, then 8 nts at BWV in a 2br -- that part of trip will be our fam of 5 plus SIL,BIL and their son and infant son. Then after our guests leave, we plan to stay about 4 more days -- can't decide where. Right now we still have ressies at BWV for our remaining days, but am thinking about moving to maybe SSR, if possible? Oh the decisions!

And can you believe I've already decided for our trip what restaurants to dine in, what PS to make, what meals to cook, what days to spend in parks and where? IT'S 200+ days away. I am so pathetic (and cold... very cold here in West By Gawsh Virginia...Brrrr......) That's not to say I won't change my mind here and there between now and August, but STILL... I am pathetic (and did I mention cold?!?)

I'll be at Saratoga Springs Resort for 10 days at the end of August-i'm thinking it'll be less busy because of the whole down south back to school thing. Waiting for my countdown timer to drop too!!!:Pinkbounc princess: :bounce:

Hi!

We have made several trips in Aug and we love it! My son plays baseball too - often right up until the first week in Aug so we always plan our trips for August. Sure, it is hot but we LIKE hot

We just finished making our day-by-day reservations for this Aug - BWV here we come! :bounce: :Pinkbounc Hope to see some other DISers there!

PS - gopherit - I love that part of Ferris Bueller! It is one of my favorite parts and I quote it all of the time! :teeth:

Have never stayed in August and was a little apprehensive because of the heat then when talking to someone at the gym he said the thunderstorms in August are unbelievable? Have you heard that?

I am hoping to get a 2 bedroom for August 16 for 6 nights, I am not particular about resort but would prefer BWV or BCV - we are owners at BWV

Can someone let me know what availablility is like in August? I am hoping southern states start to school so it won't be that difficult to get what we are looking for :earsboy:

We will be at VWL from Aug 29 - Sep 3. Our kids school starts after Labor Day, so we will go at the very end with a few days at Universal before. We went 2 years ago at the end of August, it was hot, but not unbearable. The crowds were not bad. It supposedly is a very rainy time, but we lucked out. We had a 1/2 hour downpour our first day. Two evenings it did downpour, we watched Illuminations in the rain one night. Also, the night we were going to Fantasmic it was canceled at showtime. That was the only thing that affected us.

We will be there. OKW 8/22-9/01. We also have a limited schedule during the summer. It's either right after school (usually when we cruise) or last two weeks of August. School, sports, etc.
It is hot, but you can handle it if you are prepared. I have convinced my dh to drive for the first time. We are now 99.9 % sure we will do the autotrain. Can't wait. Brutal outside and snow, we have plenty.

Mitcam - last year 8/9 - 8/17 and this year 8/21 - 8/29. Heat is manageable except for some reason Animal Kingdom was pretty hot. Frequent showers but they pass pretty quickly (bring a poncho). Crowds are fine. Between volumes and fast pass never waited more than 5 or 10 minutes.

gopherit - I feel your pain :p

We(Me,DH,DS9,DS19 and his friend ) will be "going home" to SSR from 8/16-23 in a 2BR. I too can't wait and have already planned out some things to do.We're no longer in" Vacation Commando" mode so this trip will be a laid-back one.We have gone in Aug for the past 2 years and have found it to be a great time. the crowds are managable and except for last years rare torrential rains the weather has been great
I'm like a kid waiting for Xmas to come and I log on to this and other boards daily just to get my fix:Pinkbounc I think my family gets a little tired of my talking about our trip plans:rolleyes: but they have learned to adjust::yes:: -cause if Momma ain't happy then no ones happy!!!
Right now I really need my fix cause it snowed 6" overnite and schools are closed:crazy:

We will be in a 2 Br at OKW the first week in August along with the last week in JUly!!!

Ya, it's hot, but it is hot in Boston too!! I rather be "home" in WDW in the heat then "home" in New England in the heat!!

I had to go get my countdown counters so I could post -lol. We can't wait to share our DVC with my sister and her family. This is our first time taking anyone!

BCV Aug 14
BWV Aug 15-20

I went in the middle of August this past summer, and it was HOT, but that was ok after the blizzard we had in the northeast last year. My only complaint is that it rained a lot. The day I spent in Epcot it rained the entire day- and I mean torrential rain. The other days it rained but only for a short time. I love Disney regardless of anytime I go, but if you do plan on going in August wear very light clothes and bring a poncho!

We will be at BWV frome Aug. 29 thru Sep. 3. this is following a week on the Magic. Can't wait!

We're looking forward to our first trip as DVC'rs. We'll be at BWV, 1 bdrm. from 8/15-8/21. We're going to AllStarMu for the two days before that. We were there last August the same time frame. And it was horribly rainy. And the thunderstorms were incredible. My dd is no longer afraid of them after walking around in them for 6 days!!! See you all there!

We seem to travel at the same times! I thought the rain last year was horrible! We actually stayed off site at an uncle's house for most of the trip in order to bank points for this year. It seemed like 10 minutes after we got to the parks it would start raining and it never stopped. I just had to keep reminding myself and DH that we can't plan on perfect vacations all the time.

This year we are going to be at the BCV from 8/15-8/21, arriving 2 days before that and staying off site. We are getting a 2bdrm and a studio for DH, myself, DS(5), DD(2), my parents, DB, and SIL. This is SIL first trip and my DB and father's first trip in 14 years. I can't wait to show them around. DF is complaing about going in August, but I'm a teacher and I teach summer school, so the last two weeks of August is really our only option. I found these bandana things on the internet that help keep you cool. The sell them at AK (the ones I've seen) but I found them for $6.99 at www.roshgo.com. November was peferct weather and crowds for me, but I really don't mind August and the crowds aren't bad.

We always go the 2 weeks before Labor Day! It is hot but the crowds are not bad. We have been very lucky with the rain, except last year. We needed the ponchos but one day practically had the MK all to ourselves.

This year we will be at BCV 8/20-8/23, Vero Beach 8/23-8/28 and on the Magic 8/28-9/4. It is a long summer but well worth the wait. We go to HH for President's week to get a break. Not very warm but very relaxing. Last year we left NY during the snowstorm.

Everyone have fun! See you in August!

jacksmom99....you know, I really didn't mind the heat/humidity last summer. Here in Ma it's almost as bad. Now, being on horseback when the skies opened was a whole different thing! I've never been that wet, with my clothes on. Even my feet were soaked and they were in stirrups!!! But, I figure the rain is better than those nasty cold nights during Dec. I hate having to wear mittens/coats/hats in WDW. Just doesn't seem natural. I, too, love Nov. Maybe a trip then is in order. Low crowds, nice temps, little rain. But, don't want to be taking my dd, 10, out of school again. They really nailed her in Dec. with the work she missed. And she only missed a Fri,. Mon, Tues and Wed. a week before Christmas vacation. Nope, never again. It's the summertime for us. Maybe we can all touch base when we get there. 211 and counting!!!!
