Any Advice?

The second week in December 2017 we are taking a 10 day family trip to Disney World. There will be 6 adults and 2 children (age 4.) With the exception of my husband and I it will be everyone's first trip. Does anyone have any advice for planning big family trips?

Notes: Although I am doing all of the planning we will be staying in three separate rooms.

I'm not a huge planner and never did a larger group. knowing how hard it is to plan and get some things for 2 people visitiing, I'd probably call up dreams and let them do most of hte work for me.

I'm the planner in our family and it's a tough job to keep everyone happy. You don't say where your staying so I can only be general in my suggestions. I'd start with planning dinners, I'd make at least 6 reservations for the group and since you have the two little ones I'd plan maybe two character meals (could be breakfast, lunch, etc.). I'd center the trip around MK since that's what most 1st timers think of when they think Disney. I'd get FP's for everyday whether you use them or not you'll have them. I'd plan a break in mid-afternoon for the kids (and 1st time adults) to keep everyone fresh especially since you have 10 days. Also toward the end of the trip I'd have some free unplanned time for everyone to re-visit their favorites. Good luck, I'm sure you'll have a great time.

I guess i'd find out what everyone's expectation of the trip is first. Does everyone expect to hang out together the whole time? do some people want to have their own free days without seeing the rest of you unless maybe for a meal? Are you getting hoppers?

I went to Disney in April with my family (15 of us) and tried to keep as many of us together on the same page (ex: planning lunches and dinners together, heading to the parks, etc.) as possible, but it was near impossible. Everyone had their own idea of how to make the most of their time at the parks. While I was certain that my way was best (hahahaha), I learned to work with the handful who were most like me in terms of planning. With fewer than 15, you should have more luck planning things to do than I did. At least I hope you do! Enjoy your time!
