Ok I felt confident about this when I booked. We normally fly air france but their prices were through the roof this year so opted for easyjet. Now I'm worried its going to be like those awful airport documentaries on the TV:scared:

I'm traveling with 2 DD's and my OH. This will be his first time on a plane (I usually fly when I go with the girls and we drive if hes coming) To put it mildly hes a wee bit scared:rolleyes1. So I want things to go as smoothly as possible in the hope of actually getting him to board:lmao:

Anyone out there with experience of easyjet? Tips for check in, boarding etc.

I flew Easyjet from Edin-CDG in January when I went to disney, and they are great!
My tips are to arrive at the airport quite early, or check in online, becase then you can get in boarding group A, and you get on the plane earlier and you have you choice of the seats, since you dont get assigned seating.

Also, they do serve food, but you do have to pay for it.

To be honest, I'm a flying blue member on air france/klm, and I was a bit skeptical too about flying with easyjet, but they were so much better than expected :)

I don't understand how to check in online it says on the website you can only do this if you only have hand luggage?

Do you pay for food on the plane in euro or sterling? Guaranteed the kids will want feeding:lmao: not to mention frequent trips to the wee loo:rotfl2:

Hi there, We have flow easyjet before and have never had any problems. My son flew with them this year to Geneva on a school trip and no problems at all. I think the programmes on tv scare you a bit. As long as you arrive by the time stated and do everything that is asked of you on travel docs, there will be no problem. We are actually flying with them this year to Disney as our BMI baby flight changed their flight to the afternoon which was totally unacceptable.

Tip for food on the plane, If I feel I might be peckish on route, I usually nip into Boots at the airport and buy a sandwich, crisps and water for about 3.00.

All flight prices are through the roof.

We are going from Luton, which is where the programme is filmed. Hope we aren't.

I don't think you can check in online if you have hold luggage.

If you have small children you board before everyone else so there should be no problem getting seats together. Just listen to the annoucements in the departure gate.

I think for food and drink you can pay in euro or sterling. I would take snacks on with me in the plane though as Easyjet only carry a small amount of food on the plane daily and if you have a later flight most of it will have probably been sold.

If you want to eat before you board the plan - grab something before you go through passport control as after you pass there there is only one bar/cafe (food was ok though).

I think the majority of the tv show people are people who turn up at the latest possible time and then wonder why they can't get seats together etc. Unfortunately (as with many other things) some people like having cheap flights (or hotels etc etc) but then get upset when they aren't given frills or status that they can expect of 3 stars and above.

I am going to travel with easyjet if I can put together my holiday. The only problem I have with it is the transfer at the other side :)

We have flown with easyjet before and have never had any problems

we are flying with them again in October , cant wait

i went with air france last time... and service was good... but on the french side.. they wouldnt let me have my buggy!! so i had to hold my baby for 2 hours! and had my son who had just started having seizures.. with no buggy... they said.. it was safer in hold.. then on cabin.

When we got back to uk... my pushchair was snapped in half! haha..

i hope easy jet are better with this,
air france were fine uk side.. let me have buggy right up to gate.. but the french side refused!

wont matter so much this time as milo will just be two.. but having to hold a baby who was tired and needed to sleep last time was a nightmare!

i feel happy about booking with easy jet.. when we were checking in last time.. there were alot more desks for easy jet and only one for air france. But the air france plane we got... haha.. was tiny.. a puddle hopper... was so small.... and very wobbly in the wind.. i am hoping this time.. we get on a "bigger" aircraft! haha:rotfl2:

Thank you everyone :grouphug:

Starting to feel bit more relaxed. I think those TV programmes portray a really bad image of their companies and am surprised they are made. The staff all seem extremely rude and unhelpful. I know they are often dealing with irate customers but they just appear arrogant and sarcastic!

I'm sure it will be fine. Edinburgh airport is so small I don't think much can go wrong. Its like standing at a bus stop waiting for a plane to land:lmao: Total contrast to CDG which scares me.

hahaha.. i know what you mean.. i am a total wimp and thought i would be really nervous of cdg when we got there.. but actually it was fine. but it is huge!

Hi. We have travelled twice with easyjet from edinburgh and had no problems whatsoever. Parents with young children do get priority boarding behind those with "speedy boarding" (although both times we have been, we have been boarded at the same time as the speedy boarders so would have been annoyed if I had paid extra for this). We found that the price of food in the airport did not differ greatly from that on board and my DD and DS shared "the best bacon baguette in the world" on the flight. I had ordered one for each of my childen but the flight attendants encouraged me to buy one between them as they were huge portions. Finally, if your children want one of the model planes they sell on board, then try to ask for one immediately as they only carry 1 or 2 on each flight. :)

When we flew EasyJet from Liverpool, my daughter was 15months. They let me keep my buggy until the bottom of the steps of the plane. Then on the France side, when the gate opened and we showed our boarding pass, they gave me a tag to go on my buggy. We had to use the little bus to the plane, and when we got on there I folded my pram and it was put in the hold.

On both sides, it came out with the luggage on the carousel.

Yes, they are no frills, but I know a few people who have had probs with Air France and others. I've personally not had any problems at all. In fact the opposite. The first time we flew back, the VEA didn't stop at our hotel, as it was full from the others, so when the next one came (and bad weather) we arrived at the Airport at 9.06pm our check in closed at 9.10. I thought they were not going to let us fly (after watching TV show), but they were very fast and helpful.

Now, I hope we haven't jinxed ourselves with them. We fly with them to DLP on Fathers Day:eek:

oh good... hope they let me have buggy both ends this time! haha,
though as i say.. last time was just stupid.. i couldnt believe it when they said i would have to leave buggy... they after 20 mins trying to convince them.. that air france HAD let me keep buggy up to gate.. they got superviser who confirmed... that this is not allowed... and so they watched me pick my sleeping baby out of his buggy and burst into tears... then they broke my buggy in half! haha... i got a replacement.... 5 months later..:rotfl:

Can everyone take on hand luggage, even the children? I remember seeing some with their tiny trolley bags last time. My DD would love to take her Minnie Mouse one but I wasn't sure if she'd be allowed.

yes i am sure that would be fine!
when we went.. we got all disorganised.. and ended up having our hand luggage.. then a plastic bag with footmuff in, plastic bag with pram raincover in.. bottle bag.. plastic bags with coats and gloves in.. haha.. i was worried, but they didnt blink an eye...
i think they half expect it with kids, as you need things to keep them amused on plane..

Yes, little ones can take their own hand luggage.
We always fly BMI baby (its our local airline to CDG) and it does stipulate on the ticket that each passenger taking hand luggage on board should be able to put it themselves into the overhead cabins, but my DD and Dniece took theirs, and no-one batted an eye.

There was a teeny tot (no more than 3) on the flight with her parents last month, she was thrilled to bits being able to take her little Tinkerbell trolley on board with her :goodvibes. Her parents were like me, we all just had hand luggage, for 3 nights 4 days (but obviously in February, you'll have bulkier clothes with you).

Hi Fi,

We have flown twice to CDG with Easy Jet and they have been great. We pay the extra for speedy boarding so we can get good seats at the front and don't have to queue as like your OH this is when I get nervous. Means you're on the plane first and you can get organised with magazine, drink or whatever.

Kids both take bags on with them as hand luggage with snacks, drinks and things to do. I take my "calms" and a bottle of wine in mine to numb the fear. :scared:

G flies with Easy Jet everyweek to London and as long as you're there in plenty time to check in there's never a problem.

See you soon x :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Easyjet are fine and are like any other airline really. The TV programme portrays what happens at every airport around the UK no matter whom you fly with - that's what happens at airports

I would not bother paying for speedy boarding, and just get there early to check in each time. We payed for it once, and on the french side there was no speedy boarding desk being manned at all, everyone was just told to stand in the same line. Needless to say, we will not be wasting our money on this again.

We didn't bother with speedy boarding because when you read the order of priority on their website if you're traveling with children under 5 it says you get on next anyway.

On air france it was always a bit of a scrum anyway even though some people had priority to board first.

Our return flight with air france last October they allocated us seperate seats. This meant DD who had just turned 4 that week would be sitting on her own:scared1: Luckily the cabin crew managed to swap a few people around. Mind you I would have got a lovely quiet flight.
