Any advice for checking in with a Continuing Reservation?

Hi, long story, but due to an error with CRO, instead of adding a day to our reservation at the CR like I requested, they created a whole new reservation for one day. So, now we have a Continuing Reservation.

We're going to have to check out, and then check back in our last day. We may not even get to stay in our original room

But that's OK.

I just have a really bad feeling about this though. It seems, from reading these posts, that if there is any kind of change in someone's reservations, it often turns into a nightmare. :scared:

Any advice about what to do when I first check in to prevent this?

I think that you should be ok -- I think it's a lot easier just adding one day at the end than just about anything else.

I would ask when you first check in if they will tell you exactly when rooms are assigned. It's usually 3 days, I think, or at least it used to be. Then I would make certain that on the day that the rooms would be assiged (e.g., 3 days before your last day) to remind them that you have a continuing reservation and asking if they can assign that room to you.

You should not have to change rooms.

I have had continuing reservations on several past trips and also for our upcoming trip in December. On the previous ones, everything went smoothly and we did get to stay in the same room, though we did need to check in again and get new keys. Hope you don't have any problems.

I have continuing reservations ALOT of the time - in fact I do it three times on my over New Years trip so I can avoid paying holiday rates for the whole trip. At any rate I have found it to be a breeze. Always mention it when you first arrive -- its less work for them also if you stay in the room that last night.

I have done that many times, and have never had a problem, ask them to link your reservations together, and then when you check in again mention that you will be staying an extra day, and make sure that they note that you want to stay in the same room, on your last day of the first reservation just go to guest services and recheck in, they will give you new room cards.

We have had continuing reservations several times in the past. I do not remember it ever being any kind of a problem ( and I would remember if it were! ;) ) We didn't have to change rooms or anything like that. We may have had to have our keys updated, that's about it I think.

If you are staying concierge,(I thought I remember that you are??) they can just handle the whole thing for you with no hassle at all.

Have a great time!

We did this at CR last year. We had one night and then our 7 other nights on another reservation. Booked this way to avoid paying holiday rate the entire trip. Upon check-in I went to mention about the 2 reservations and the CM finished my sentence up for me and told me that the two were linked together and we wouldn't have to switch rooms. Simply come back down in the morning to check-out and then check-in. We did get new room keys as well.
