Any accurate pricing of the Wish Tower suite yet?

IMO, by charging too much for the value. (I’m talking real value, as emotional value doesn’t always make us rational financially speaking... and usually doesn’t care about our wallets LOL).

Don’t get me wrong: The ship is cute, all the cabins are cute, the 2 story cabin is super cute...

But...

As a DCL fan, I’m looking at those rates and I’m thinking... « Nah. They have long passed the prices I’m willing to pay for a Disney Cruise

And, of course, fact that I have tried other cruise lines (and compared value) have reenforced that feeling.

Maybe we have different definitions of "taking advantage of" somebody.

I guess my line of thought is: the fact that you are both willing and able to say "Nah" and walk away, means that DCL can't take advantage of you.

You have the power to choose not to sail with Disney Cruise Line if you don't feel like you are getting acceptable value in exchange for the price you are paying.

I personally love the fact that I can tell Disney, "Thanks, but you're too expensive" and walk away whenever I want. And there is nothing they can do to stop me.

ABD is a great example of that (for me, at least). Can I afford ABD trips? Yes. Do I feel like they are overpriced in terms of the value my family and I would receive? Yes. So Disney can charge $12 gajillion for a trip across Tuscany, and I couldn't care less. I'm not being taken advantage of because I don't have to take that trip and accept that price.

Maybe there was a better expression than "taking advantage of" to address the subject. English is not my first language so my vocabulary is not 100%. My sleep deprived brain went straight to the expression that I felt was closest to my views. But "taking customers for granted" would have been more accurate. (Will correct right away).

I agree with most of what you said...

I just feel like they are trying to squeeze as much money as they can out of their customers... I am thinking that maybe customers should start saying "no" to them more? IDK... Food for thoughts.

Ah. My apologies. I've read a lot of your posts. and I never would have guessed that English was not your primary language. :)

As for "taking customers for granted," I agree with that 100%. Unfortunately, the sad fact of the matter is that they really can take customers for granted right now. It seems that for every one customer that walks due to price, there are two new customers ready to take their place..

That just seems kind of... LOW to me, doesn’t it to you all???

I agree. Our family had a concierge trip booked in 2020 with all of us that we did not get to go on. We needed 3-4 concierge rooms for 10 people (mix of standard and 1 bedroom suites) and the total per person/per night was significantly higher than that. Even if we took a royal suite for 5 of us it would have been well over $4,000/pp for that room on a 4 night cruise. The pricing for $64k that was posted on the first page of this thread is what currently shows on the MV for what we are assuming is the funnel and that is only for five guests. While I agree, that price is probably a bit inflated for the MV.. the first two adults in the room are listed at $24,500/each. If you fill the room with 6 kids, then that lowers the per person cost when you average it out.. but right now on the MV a child is $5,000. Even when considering lower fares in hurricane season, I can't fathom it being $4,000/pp.

I take this as a compliment. Thank you :)

And yes, sadly, as long as people are ready to pay those prices without having any kind of promos, there is no way the rates are going to get better.

I really enjoy these types of discussions! It is interesting to see where people end up on the issue of "how much is too much" when it comes to Disney.

For some background, my family of four has been on nine Disney cruises. Our first one was during the economic collapse of 2008 when DCL was unloading cabins at super low prices. It was that super low price that got us to go on our first. I vividly remember we got two "guarantee" window cabins for two people in each for a grand total of $2,700 for 7 nights on the Magic. Yes, $2,700 total for four people for 7 nights. Imagine if that pricing still existed today, 13 years later.

We had such a good initial impression, that we continued with DCL for the next decade as our children grew up. Of the nine cruises, we booked a Royal Suite on three occasions. I do not remember the exact numbers, but I do know we went from around $2K a night (not per person, but per cabin for the four of us) on the Wonder, to around $4K a night on the Fantasy, to around $5.5K a night on the Dream over a few years. Our latest cruise over New Years a couple years ago was in a one bedroom suite, around $4K a night.

Anyway, as with several other people who have posted, I do have a mental wall on how much I will pay for anything even if i can afford it. DCL seems to defy those usual considerations, although not always. Immediately before COVID, I was looking at a summer cruise and the Royal was pricing out at around $60K for 7 nights (around $8.5K a night). I had a hard time wrapping my head around whether or not we should book. We ended up booking an extended two week trip to Southeast Asia (subsequently cancelled due to COVID) and planned to spend about the same amount as the cruise.

So, yes, I know I have my limits on how much I am willing to give DCL for a cruise since there are always other options for travel. What attracts me to the Tower Suite is that I love to spend endless hours in the cabin. My wife generally likes have a balcony which I could care less. My middle school son loves the jacuzzi on the balcony of the Dream/Fantasy. My daughter seemingly could care less which cabin we book. So, whether or not we book the Tower Suite is not a forgone conclusion. I am almost thinking the two story Royal with the jacuzzi on the balcony would be our best option. However, the novelty of being in the funnel with a private elevator is strongly influencing my opinion.

Anyway, just a bunch of rambling in the lead up to Monday when I will have a chance to book. If the Tower is $12k a night and a two story Royal with balcony is $8K a night, my decision will be easier!

No one should pay what Disney charges for anything at Disney.

A turkey leg isn’t worth $14.

I'm probably wrong in thinking this way but it wouldn't surprise me if the tower suite's price is the same or lower than the 2 story Royals. The whole tower thing is a novelty and the bigger size is nice but unless they are including extra amenities and exclusive perks, IMO,at least, it doesn't compare to the 2 story royals with their amazing verandahs. The lack of a private outdoor space for hanging out and relaxing makes it less than appealing for me.

Actually, I wondered even if the Wish Royals with balcony would compare to those on either the Dream or Fantasy. Looking at the deck plan, none on the Wish appear nearly as expansive as those on the Dream/Fantasy. I also wonder if the balcony jacuzzi on the Wish will be smaller. On the Dream/Fantasy, it is quite large and really needs that good space. Too bad that floorplans including balcony are not seemingly easily available right now!

Does anyone know if the Tower Suite (or the Royals, for that matter) would "guarantee" a cabana? Or at least give you some sort of a booking advantage over the "regular" concierge suites? If I dropped that amount of $ and then didn't get a cabana....I'd be seriously bumming!!

We have sailed in a "royal" suite on the dream and magic and while they dont guarantee anything, they were able to get us a cabana on embarkation day both times. It seems they might hold a certain number of cabanas for these higher paying rooms up until they can speak to you about your cruise plans on embarkation day. At that point if they arent utilized, I'm sure they pass them on to other concierge guests that wanted the booking but were unable to secure it.

I think officially, no, they wont guarantee it. But I would highly doubt that they wouldn't have a few cabanas saved for those higher paying rooms. That has been our experience at least!

This is what I'd have to imagine happens! Thanks for the reply! With the increased # of concierge rooms - the ease of getting a cabana would definitely be a point in the PLUS column for the royal suites :)

That is interesting as I did not think about that when asked. Once when we did not have a cabana reserved, the concierge at check-in at the lounge mentioned that he could likely get us one if we wanted. Again, did not think about it at the time, but you are likely correct that a few are held back.

I think it's their realistic way of creating some pixie dust for a few families on each sailing!

I don't know if they do for sure but a part of me believes it's one of those unspoken perks that just happens because you're in the highest level suite. As mentioned above they hold back one or two for onboard concierge booking. We received one once after booking a last minute VGT rate and upgrading to a one bedroom at port. I think they should guarantee a cabana for the highest category suites. I know it won't be popular but I feel there should be a tired system in concierge for the cabanas - Royals, 2 bedroom on the Magic and Wonder ( Can't recall the codes because they've changed so much lol) and the one bedroom suites after that they can go to the concierge verandah and oceanview cabins. Many of the other main stream cruise lines do guarantee pool and beach cabanas for their highest level suites or they have separate part pf their private islands for Concierge guests with cabanas and such.

I take it one step further. I actually think they should just include the cabana in the price of a Royal Suite and be done with it. Admittedly, there are 4 Royals and a Tower Suite on the Wish, but when on the Fantasy, for example, with only two Royals, I never understood why they just didn't include the cost of a cabana in the fare and make it more "inclusive" of an experience.

Those aren't natural or real. No turkey leg is that big or over 2,000 calories. 🤢🤮
There's no way I would eat one, but Disney says that they are real turkey legs...

"People are accustomed to Thanksgiving turkeys, which are female birds, or hens; the males, called toms, are bigger — up to 50 pounds apiece — and their legs are the ones that Disney serves, said Keith M. Williams, a vice president at the National Turkey Federation, an industry trade group."
