Anxiously awaiting exam results

DS heard from UCAS this morning that he's got his university place and has just left for school to get the exam results.

:cool1: Great news.

Well the long wait is over for India - 6 weeks after getting her results she found out today that she has a place at Exeter University - Cornwall campus in Falmouth to study Renewable Energy.

She is over the moon and we are all so proud of her achievements.

Tammy

Well done to India, sounds like a great course, in a fabulous location:thumbsup2

Just found out that Samuel has achieved 2 As in his Maths AS level!!! Didn't actually realise he was taking that this year (such a bad mother!!!) so... :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

:dancer: Well done Samuel :dancer:

FINALLY HE PHONES - DS had to be at school at 11 and only just thought of phoning - didn't dare ring him because I assumed it was bad news as his Maths/further maths and accounts teachers predicted him C,D,C in that order for his AS because they felt his swimming was interferring with his studies. Well yar boo sucks to them 2 A's and a C (C in accounting and he thinks he might re-take) we are really pleased, he said that none of his Maths teachers are at the school but can't wait for the cake his Decision maths teacher promised any of her students that got an A

Hope all other students and parents are pleased with their results

Well done to your DS, to get that result and his swimming achivements is a great balance:banana::banana:

Congratulations to everyone on their results :goodvibes My A level results day was 8 years ago, more scary than the day itself :rotfl:

Congratulations to everone who got the results they wanted:cheer2:

Well done to your son, those are great results!!! :goodvibes

And thank you for all you good wishes. Now we're just waiting on next Thursday's main event ... ;)

Congratulations to everyone on their results.

My brother is off to Kings College to study Classics in a month.:goodvibes

Taryn did really well in her A'Level results yesterday - A in Art, B in Drama, C in Media Studies. She is now going to Glyndwr Uni to study BA degree in Illustration. We are all so proud - infact I cried on the phone in work when she told me her results! How embarrassing!

Hope everyone else did as well as they hoped.

Congratulations to her; I cried when I got my results so much so that I couldn't drive home to go tell my mum :rotfl:

Some fantastic results there for everyone's children! They all seem to be super clever these days :lmao: I can't remember 7 years ago when I got mine :rotfl2:

Congratulations to them all and good luck for next week for those getting GCSE results! :thumbsup2

Well done to everyone who achieved the results they needed. :thumbsup2

I found out today that my nephew didn't get the grades he needed for uni, he is absolutely gutted bless him. :sad1: He thinks he might redo the year but is so upset as all his mates passed.

My son did the IB, so got his results 6 weeks ago...... and they were AWFUL! :sad2: :sad2:He had to wait for clearing this week to see if he got anything.
The thing was, his Dad, sister and me weren't here when clearing opened. I'd booked a week at Disney in Paris months ago - not realising this was A level result week. Fortunately he stayed with my sister and she was around to help with the endless rounds of phone calls.
He has an offer from Swansea to do the course he wanted, but he needs to do a Foundation Year to bolster up his results, so it is a 4 year course instead of 3.
:worship:Thank goodness. :faint:

He should try clearing. At our 6th form, there are people on hand to give advice when things don't go to plan. Has he tried talking to anyone about his options?

I think it is so hard on the students who don't get the grades they need, especially when the media is full of "the A levels are too easy!" and "Record passes again this year!"

In the long run a year repeated doesn't take that long, but when you're 18 and your mates are all doing what they planned it must hurt a lot.

We're now anxiously awaiting a finance letter. We were late applying - somehow I missed that there was a cut off date combined with our financial papers being needed by DH work we didn't apply until last week!:scared1:

We've only applied for the minimum loan (still got no papers but probably wouldn't qualify for more anyway). So do you think there's any chance that DS will hear before he starts at the end of September?

They didn't take too long to get back to our son - maybe 3 weeks. He did get the most awful letter from them though. It said "We have completed your application. We do not need any further information from you. Please send this information to us as soon as possible or we will be unable to complete your application" :confused3 It looked like they had mail-merged 2 different letters.

I think he will talk to someone but needs a few days to think it over & get over the upset.

I agree it has been on the tv so much lately how easy they are, not good for someone who fails.

Good luck with your loan, I hope you manage to get it.

Aww, that's a shame - it happened to me back in the day and it's a horrible feeling... Hope he works out what he wants to do and feels better soon, hun...
