A bit of warning.....when my dear friend went to Disney..it was a surprise trip for her family and we wanted WL to help celebrate her son's birthday without their knowing...so they delivered a cake and balloons to his room sometime during the day while they were at the park....they returned to their room around 8pm..and the cake was beautiful but it had ants all over it. Maybe it's only WL that has the ant problem...they were on concierge level and I guess with all the food around they had some ants way up on the 7th or so floor! Tara

So.... ANTS at WL ?

What if we bring poptarts and cereal with us ?
Fruit basket delivered to our room ?

Do I need throw away tupperware to store it in ?
Would Zip-Loc bags keep ants away ?

AM I CAMPING IN A RESORT ROOM AT THE WL ?
I might as well be in a tent.

PLEASE ADVISE - we may have to switch resorts.
We will not put up with an ANT INFESTATION !

We just came back from a stay at the WL on the 4th floor woods view, no ants :) And I am an "ant spotter"..we get them a lot at home and I notice them very quickly!

We once had ants in our room at the Dolphin (upper floor too nowhere near the window). They came up an spayed and they were gone. If they are a problem I'm sure they'll switch your room.

The truth is FL is the "ant capital"! They pretty much turn up anywhere. I've gotten them in my car (yuck). They must have nested nearby your friend's room and once they smelled that yummy cake they figured they were invited.

So I wouldn't bother switching resorts as they can show up anywhere in WDW. If you're at the WL, I'd recommend putting your food in sealed ziplocs once opened in the drawers in the vanity area.

We just got back from the WL and it was spotless. Never saw one ant. We live in the country and get them all the time so we are pretty quick to notice them but we never saw one during our ten nights.

We were ina ground floor room in April. No problems at all with ants or any other "critters".

I'm having a cake delivered to our room at WL the night we check in. Our flight is scheduled to land at 7.35pm, so I asked in-room dining to deliver the cake around 8.30pm. Hopefully we'll be pulling up at the resort by this time and we will be in our room by 8.45pm with a cake to greet us! I'm hoping we're in the room and eating the cake before any critters have time to stake claim!

BTW - This is a BIG surprise for my DH. Not only is he getting a cake for his birthday, he thinks we're staying at POR!!! I can't wait to see his face!!!

We had ants on the counter at BWV on 2 different trips. It's really important to keep everything wiped up, the one time crackers were left open.

Kind of like Field of Dreams... If you leave it out they will come. :rotfl2: Down here in FL we have to keep everything sealed up and cleaned up or we'll get ants. We have an exterminator come once a month and it still doesn't keep them all out completely.

I know this is a bit off the subject, but we will be at the WL on our anniversary. I read a few posts back about having a cake delivered to your room for a special occasion. I think that would be wonderful to help celebrate. i would prefer it to be without ants, though! :rotfl2: Can someone tell me how to order the cake and approx. how much it would cost?

Also, this is a surprise for my whole family. They think we are staying offsite. Just love those surprises!

Thanks a bunch in advance!

No ants in our room at WL...and my 2-year-old DD left plenty of crumbs around to tempt them. ;) Unfortunately, the ants here at home are better at finding her crumbs than the WL ants! I've been fighting them all summer. :confused3

We stayed aug21-26 on the 6th floor . we did not see any ants. I was a little dissapointed that there were A LOT of mosquitos at the beach and the villa pool and even some at SS pool. , inthe am and pm. Couldnt really enjoy being outside, but I know that's the season/florida.

We left food around(mostly snacks) at WL in July-never saw hide nor hair of an ant or bug of any kind. Room was spotless.

sarah4770-yes it is definitely that time of year for mosquitoes but I must agree even 3 yrs back when we were at WL at the same time (mid-late Aug) the mosquitoes were not NEARLY as bad then.

This past Sun. night when we took the boat back from MK the boat was just swarming with them. Not only were they outside on the seats in the back but tons were covering the walls inside the boat, yuck!! Even the next morning when we went to the CR we walked in through the back from the boat and there was a CM hosing down the bldg by the pool as there were tons more on the walls there.

We used our Buguard everyday just to make sure we were protected and it seemed to work well as we didn't get bit once. It was very strange though as it was just as wet and humid when we were there a few years back at the same time but I don't recall nearly as many mosquitoes.

What do you expect, Flick and his friends live over there...
